Taiwan Day 4: Day trip from Taipei to Shifen & Juifen, with a spot of horse riding

Day 4 of our Taiwan adventure took us on a day trip up to Shifen & Juifen. It was quite a long train ride to get up there, and the local train that runs up there doesn't run all that often from Taipei, so be sure to check the timetables. Turns out you can use the metro cards on some of these routes, so check on this before you go buying other tickets.
These two spots are quite touristy in the main areas. In Shifen, it's well worth walking up to the waterfalls, as it's a little less touristy there than in the Main Street. At night, the lanterns in the Old Street of Juifen light up, making for a very pretty scene, however, it does probably get more crowded at night, so it's well worth getting there a little earlier to avoid quite as many of the crowds.
The street food is good, but probably much more touristy than the night markets and walking streets in Taipei.
