台湾 Taiwan! You probably never knew it had places like we'll show you in this video.
We're officially on the road in Taiwan with our Land Rover Defender and Four Wheel Camper truck camper that we drove here from France.
In this video we head to the Shei-Pa National Park and spend 4 days hiking to the summit of the beautiful Mt Xueshan, Taiwan's second highest peak at 3886m.
To reach this region we took our Defender over the highest vehicle accessible road pass at Wuling.
The narrow mountain trails through this region resulted in several palm sweating moments when encountering other vehicles.
We certainly didn't realise that Taiwan had such incredible natural beauty before we saw it with our own eyes.
It's not even a fraction of what this country has to offer. In fact as a gentleman informs is in this video Taiwan is 70% uninhabited mountains ⛰️🇹🇼😍

Oh the mountains 😭 I miss them so much. I miss being surrounded by them everywhere. Anywho.., I brought a bottle of Kavalan to Ireland last time. They were shocked how smooth it is. Not a whiskey fan. Speaking of alcohol, try the aboriginal millet wine, they're mostly homemade. And maybe, if you have time, definitely visit any aboriginal village while you're there. I'm from the Paiwan tribe. Take your baby jeep to Pingtung (southern Taiwan) and head to Laiyi village. Gulou is the oldest aboriginal village in Taiwan, though it doesn't look like something 200 yeas ago. If you keep driving up, you'll pass more villages. Enjoy 🌞😛👍🤘

Colorado has the most peaks over 14000 ft, but most start from 6000 or more at ground level. These peaks in Taiwan are incredible. Rising to almost 10000 ft from sea level. Just awesome! 🤠

Taiwan’s tallest mountain is Jade Mountain. When Taiwan was under Japanese rule, it was the tallest mountain within Japan, so Japan named it “Mount Niitaka” meaning “new tall mountain” because it is taller than Mt. Fuji. Btw. The code for the surprise attack of Pearls Harbor in 1941 was Niitakayama Nobore or "Climb Mount Niitaka/Jade Mt".

Bravo pour cette fantastique aventure, je vous suis depuis l'Afghanistan. Taiwan est en effet une île magnifique, les gens y sont très gentils et accueillants, avec une gastronomie très variée. Il y a de beaux spots surf la Côte Est, près de Taitung. Si par hasard vous comptiez vous rendre en Chine, j'y ai vécu 22 ans. Et j'ai parcouru en jeep, la plus grande partie du Sud Ouest du pays, donc je serais heureux de partager avec vous mes connaissances des lieux. Mais je pense qu'en période de pandémie, l'accès ne doit pas y être aisé. Si je vois un Defender Pick up en passant par l'Ardèche, je penserais à vous. Bonne continuation.

What a stunning track! It reminded me of the Tongariro Northern Circuit in New Zealand. I pushed this 4-days trekking route into 3 days and still remember how excited I was to see the base camp in the end. All my muscles were sore from top to bottom. There was no phone, laptop, or the likes - pure hobbit style solitary. When you arrived at the gate here I could relate to that feeling of accomplishment accompanied by the sensation of the body's physical mutation. Feels good.

You mean a permit for the drone? From all of the research I've done no permit is required if all of the guidelines are followed. Registration of the drone is required if the drone weighs more than 250g.
