I think the main point is that US wants China to be a democracy so that China becomes pro western. And they want to use Taiwan as a thorn to push for that. India is already a democracy and little bit pro-western so the situation is a little different. So my view is that US doesnt have a big motive to sell arms to Kashmir.

It's not new for China claiming Taiwan is part of their country and for decades, since after 25 years a US top leader visiting Taiwan and what made Ms Nancy to visit China under the circumstances of very high inflation and collapse of economy in US and other parts of the world except Russia and China. US have not retrieved from Covid 19 issues so far and their interest rate is very high among all countries of the world. Their Currency has fallen by about 25% against Russia's Ruble in just 3 months in spite of Russia and Ukraine conflict and US applied sanctions against Russia however its allies in European Union continue to buy Russian crude oil and gas even after imposing sanctions against Russia.. This shows that US is weak with respect to their economic policies and its defence. China is not a weak country with their economy and military power and also incurred very less damage due to Covid 19 when compared to US. Taiwan+US and China stand off should not be converted into a war, which is not good for any country including India and will be a disastrous for US. You should remember that war between Iraq and US+ allies was so different from this stand off because two super powers should not collide with each other. In Gulf war only Kuwait was bombarded instead of Iraq , hence US and it's allies were given contract for rebuilding of Kuwait by earnings huge amount of money, because of that once considered to be richest nation in the world becomes poorest nation in Middle East . US always need a war to stabilise their economy , now the need has come to them. USD, the global reserve currency fallen apart as such Russia insisting Ruble payment for their exports and Saudi Arabia accepting Yuan payment for their oil supply to China and indeed India offering Dirham payment to Russia for importing oil, steel,coal etc., Let's see how this stand off could be between 2 super powers and but I think that it would not be. Regarding semi conductors used an automobile part, we mostly importing from South East Asian countries not only from Taiwan.

Reading these comments is pretty shocking to me, as a US citizen. Are these Chinese paid comments or reflective of some actual pro-china sentiment in India? Hard to say. For what it's worth do I think Pelosi's trip to Taiwan was wise? No. But she isn't the first US congress person to visit the island AND she doesn't have a whole lot of control over our foreign policy. It was almost certainly a symbolic visit. So for China to react this aggressively, like a spoiled child throwing a temper tantrum, I think is completely disproportionate. For all those "what-if" commenters (e.g. what if it was Karachi, how would India feel?) I think is not really relevant or logically consistent. To my limited knowledge, Karachi does not have a self appointed COMPLETELY SEPARATE government, economy, passports/visas, and military right? So how is that similar to Taiwan precisely?? If India and China are truly consistent with all this vague, hollow "conflicts should be resolved peacefully and diplomatically" rhetoric regarding the Russia-Ukraine war but now, when an 82 YEAR OLD WOMAN travels to Taiwan for a photo-op that somehow justifies hostile dangerous Chinese war posturing? Geopolitically the more China engages in Taiwan, the less China will have time and energy for India. Thus, by rules of geopolitics, India should encourage Taiwan unrest, no? However, if India wants to strengthen its economic ties with China, it should support one China policy. India has little or no “economical” gains from supporting Taiwan. What should India do? Claims from US such as -US do not support Taiwan independence. Currently, it is against the wishes of many Taiwanese. -USA would like Taiwan to be unified with China in peaceful way. Would that be acceptable to USA?. I guess not bcz China will access the high tech of Taiwan. I guess at the moment Taiwan is safe due technology dependency. Right now China and USA are heavily investing in high tech semiconductor manufacturing facilities as well as know how. I presume the race between these two powers will continue till one of them achieve the total independence. If winner is USA than Taiwan will have no importance to protect against China. If China become the winner than China would try to stop Taiwan to sell high tech to other countries at all cost. I fail to see a peaceful way out for Taiwanese. A peaceful island people with better democratic and welfare system than many western countries. Visit of Pelosi did not bring anything other than more burden to People of Taiwan. They have to put up with economic losses as well as increased aggression from China. If US+UK do not create conflict in the region for their own hegemonic interest, I am sure Asian countries could find solution amongst themselves. Also, it is rather difficult to be in between two super countries which does not respect any international laws. China should soften their stance against Taiwan. USA instead of creating conflicts around the world, should spend the money for their own people and appalling infrastructure such as roads, bridges, airports, social welfare etc..,.

How is there a standoff between US and China; there isn't one between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan either. Taiwan is just taking cover and waiting it out. USS Ronald Reagan has left the general area. China has announced and is carrying out drills of a declared duration near Taiwan. After the drills end, USS RR can return. This is going to be recurrent. US battleships will cruise near China, but after they leave China will conduct drills of a declared duration near Taiwan. Business confidence in Taiwan will be eroded and Taiwan will suffer.
