So according to you, it is decent policy for China to enable and support Russia's genocide and decimation of Ukraine, and China's backing Iran that enabled Hamas and Hezbollah to brutally attack and thereby provoke Israeli retaliation and the current decimation of Gaza. And that is the most decent policy you can think of? Europe had more balanced and smarter policy than China with regard to Gaza and Ukraine.
@YWang-vl2zh

@@ariisaac5111There is no point arguing over the definition of “enabling.” You can blame China for the “decimation of Gaza” all you want if it makes you feel better. Let’s wait out 10 years and see what happens to Europe. Russia has a surplus in energy and in food; China is a net importer of both. Importing from Russia is the cheapest and greenest, and there is no way China will cut off relationships with Russia (unless Russia attacks China).

Taiwan's political status and the status of the Uyghurs in Xinjiang are none of America's business. Extreme arrogance has made the USA feel entitled to meddle in China's domestic affairs, and this is extremely dangerous.
@ResearchFirst-z7j

Taiwan is none of the CCP's business. Taiwan was not even added to the PRC constitution until 1978? How funny. Lol The 1978 PRC Constitution was the first Constitution in the PRC to touch explicitly on the political status of Taiwan. It said that "Taiwan is part of China" and said that the PRC "must liberate Taiwan, and finish the great task of reunifying the motherland". However, in 1979, the PRC dropped the liberation stance and opted for peaceful reunification instead. The 1982 Constitution mentioned that "Taiwan is a sacred part of the territory of the People's Republic of China" instead of just "China". The fact is the war was never over Taiwan and during the civil war the island legally belonged to Japan not China. Once Mao died the PRC constitution was amended to state that Taiwan was part of China. There are no internationally recognized treaties, policies, agreements or UN resolutions that declare that Taiwan is part of China.
@horridohobbies

@@ResearchFirst-z7j Before Japan took Taiwan in 1895, Taiwan was part of the Qing Dynasty, i.e., China. The Cairo Declaration (December 1, 1943), explicitly stated that territories Japan had taken from China, including Manchuria, Taiwan, and the Pescadores Islands, would be restored to China (ROC) after the war. Yes, there is legal ambiguity surrounding the China-Taiwan situation. Within the context of this ambiguity, China (PRC) claims Taiwan. Nevertheless, practically the entire world subscribes to the One China policy.

For those who struggle to understand what a tariff is - its a TAX. It does not tax the Seller (in your case, Chinese seller). The Chinese was paid as soon as they delivered the goods to the Chinese dock for export - usually via the letter of credit from a reputable bank (importer's bank). When the goods arrives, the US authority issues a 60% tax (in Trump's case) on those goods. The importer then passes on that extra charge (60% tax) onto the consumer - that is, YOU are paying that extra 60% tax. Now, consider this: the highest income tax rate in the US is 37% (yes, millionaires and billionaires are paying that rate). But you guys (the consumers) are paying 60% tax for ordinary items. As a result, the money you have in your wallet or bank account, can ONLY purchase less goods - that is, your standard of living has been reduced. And at the same time, inflation has been increased. That is what tariffs does.

2 things 1. Millionaires and billionaires do t pay that amount. They pay less than you and me. 2. If The tariff is 60% from the importer it gets marked up even more for everyone in that sales chain. The bottom line is US can't reduce its hypocrisy because US is under the control of Capitalists and Capitalists want only profits and they don't want to help other countries. Chinese government is more like wanting to help other countries over profits. The two nations approach the world in a very different way. You decide which approaches is better. Helping over profits or profits over Helping....❤❤❤

National debt is just one of the measure., & doesn't give a full picture. China has some shiny armour like No. 1 in EV's & related tech, Advanced AI, space, infrastructure. All good. But it's going down with real estate bust in which Chinese invested big time which is worth 1/3 of investment. It's growth is dependent on exports just like Japan/Germany. Look at where their economies are. With large consumption markets slamming their doors through sanctions (US/Germany/Argentina/Brazil etc) & India too, what will be the unemployment levels? With steep job losses, educated Chinese are moving out to rural areas to cope with costs. Also with population going down like Japan, the real estate bust is going no where.

It should be noted that Sen. Marco Rubio is persona non grata in China, having been sanctioned as a reciprocal measure for his bills to sanction Chinese officials, specifically Hong Kong officials, and his measures against Hong Kong. Should he be appointed and confirmed as Trump's Secretary of State, this issue would have to be resolved for him to visit China, an opportunity to resolve or intensify conflict. While generally, China pursues diplomacy, given the current hostile posture of the US toward China, a unilateral resolution of this by China might not be immediately forthcoming. Consider if you will, the undiplomatic start the Biden Administration made with China in the Alaska summit, that was not well-received by the Chinese public. Given the fact Xi declined the invitation to attend Tram's inauguration, I do think China will strike a conciliatory but firm tone with the US after Trump resumes office.

Based on ppp , China is already the biggest economy in the world. A doctor charges USD10 in China but USD100 in USA. Does that mean that the USA economy is 10 times bigger ? China already produces more TV, phones, computers etc from USA every year. By any measure, Chinas economy is bigger than USA. Tariffs on Chinese goods will mean that American consumers will pay more. China will also impose tariffs on USA goods and the Chinese consumers will pay more . Net net….all the consumers will pay more and will then buy more goods from third countries. Chinese consumers now eat more Brazilian beefs, agriculture etc…. How does that help american farmers….?

America will never catch up with China on the global market, for instance America built only 0.3 % of cargo ships last year, while China built over 60% of the world's cargo ships, China out produce America even in building military ships 🚢 and has 75% of the global market orders for building military ships.

One major argument for dedollarisation is USD should not be a fiat currency where US abuse it reserve status by simply printing USD to buy valuable goods from other currency. This is equivalent to stealing or cheating other countries. People are also fearful of the loss in value in USD as a result of this. Furthermore, this is very likely as US may advert the default on its debts debts by creating more USD by printing them.
