Frankie Gaw is the founder of Little Fat Boy, a food blog that reimagines American childhood recipes with an Asian twist. The recipes, including those of his latest series "Turning American Classics Asian" are inspired by Gaw's Taiwanese-American upbringing.

Taiwanese food is definitely the best in my opinion. I've been to many countries like US, Spain, France, Japan, Thailand, Russia, Ukraine plus many others and now I am in Serbia. I really wish they had Taiwanese restaurants here in Belgrade.

Omfg this reminds me the episode of fresh off the boat. Quick context: abc show set in 90s of a Chinese American family with the oldest Eddie adapting to moving to a school and trends like rap. The episode involves his mom making lunch for him to eat at school but gets made fun of with the stinky food. Later asks mom if they can go buy lunchables and forgot exact saying but mom said something about it’s for rich ppl. There maybe a clip of it on here. Found it. Look up fresh off the boat “white ppl lunch” video.

To my Taiwanese friends here, check out Didi (little brother) that comes out July 26th in the US. Parts of it was filmed at the park across the street from me and it's a coming of age story about a Taiwanese-American teen learning and discovering himself.

So I can safely assume you do not consume tacos, pho, ramen, sashimi, peanut butter, chow mein, mei fun, hot dogs, fried chicken, bbq, apple pie, pizza, bagels, goulash, tempura, bacon, potato salad, french fries or caesar salads? None of those foods can be accredited to American minds. From food to freedom, one of the reasons America exists today is immigration. :)

Is he really Taiwanese? Americans don’t know only about 1/2 of the people of Taiwan are Taiwanese My wife was born in Taiwan and speaks fluent Taiwanese, but she is only 1/2 Taiwanese. Her father is from JiangSu, JiangSu-ese, and he does not speak Taiwanese When I served in the ROC Navy on Taiwan, none of our officers were Taiwanese The current government wants to make everyone speak Taiwanese. They will cause their own military to revolt

Well, there were the natives before the Kuomintang fled to Taiwan after the civil War but they are now one nation and call themselves Taiwanese. I have one friend who's bloodline is full Taiwanese and another who's grand parents fled to there and I know there's always been that divide where the full bloods look down up them but just like in America, we need to stand united. This country was built on the backbones of immigrants and now you got people who want them all out and it's a shame.
