In NYC, at good Chinese restaurants, Sha Cha Chicken had a curry flavor, light spice, and had mostly chicken, qith cauliflower, carrots, onion. It also wasn't that red. Well, I just purchased Sa Cha from my local Asian store and it looks kind of gray-green in color. I haven't tried cooking with it yet. I really hope to replicate the dish as I had it in NYC.

Awww that sounds delicious! what's the name of the restaurant? I visit New York about twice a year, I'd love to go try that out! The gray bottle, green cap shacha sauce is vegan shacha, a.co/d/dtnLeWV, if this is what you mean. Definitely tell me how your dish goes, and if there's any other questions:) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaibdJmCmKyrZtU Here's another shacha tofu recipe that's super tasty. and if you can't get your hands on press tofu, it will work with extra firm regular tofu as well, just cut them into cubes instead Let me know how you like it:)

Also, Curry powder goes really well with Shacha sauce as well, If you like the curry flavor in your chicken, add 1tsp of curry powder to mix with 1Tbsp of Shacha will give you that unique flavor you're looking for, if the sauce is too thick, add in cooking rice wine to water it down. I'm making a Shacha Currry seared prawn next month, so stay tune and you can use this recipe to cook any other protein as well.

Thanks for response and extra info. Sha cha was a thing at some of the places I worked--the group lunch orders were from several restaurants. Since moving to the Carolinas, I have never seen Sha Cha on the menu so I hope to replicate it.
