Great documentary series documenting the life of a Spirit Medium. I agree that the headline title "Superstitions" is negatively nuanced to the English speaker. There are still spirit mediums practicing their religion amongst the Southern Chinese diaspora in South East Asia, despite its eradication in the Chinese Mainland after the Cultural Revolution.

I think this medium should get compensated for his work. The Universal Law of Give and Take. He is living in a physical world and needs to meet his physical needs. If he gets burned out, have too much load and worries to take care of himself and family, he won't be able to do the spiritual work. Some donations should be given to him for his work.

This is a form of Chinese folk religious tradition, and has brought spiritual comfort to several generations of the local community. It's not appropriate to be classified as superstitions.

Supernatural is real, my wife's sister opened a restaurant with 2 partners in Indonesia. It was busy at first but suddenly it went quiet. "Things" started happening. According to the local custom when you open a business, you need to do certain local ritual almost like a blessing, but they didn't (none of the partner believe in the supernatural). After that the employees suggested that they should do it. Unlike my wife's sister(a laid back Buddhist), both partners are very religious. They both brought their own priests (diff denomination). It was more like a competition, my god is better than yours kind of thing. No Buddhist blessing. The blessings were done back to back. I told my sis, you might need to do a local one too (we Buddhist don't mind, it's about respecting the local customs), but sis refused to tell them. She said we might have a "holy war" even though it's only a suggestion. A few months went by, the business wasn't improving. Then came the muslim's holy days, store would be closed for a week. They came up with a plan for renovation/repainting/re-decorating. There was always 1 employee who stayed inside. One night a complex security found the restaurant's door was wide open @3 am. They found him on the floor unconscious and blood spatter everywhere. They took him to the hospital and he was fine the next day. He told them that there was a granny gave him a drink. It turned out the drink was the paint for the renovation. That afternoon he passed away which is weird since he looked fine during the visit by everyone. This kind of story is common except this happened to our close relative, other businesses might use spirits to destroy competitors. I see a lot of "things" since I was a kid, but it's hard to tell those who has never had it.

It is not Superstitions. not sure why the title. Modern day people like to label ancient stuff as superstitions... it is a sweeping statement and it is a stupid statement that come from arrogance and ignorance... some ancient stuff is Superstitions, but many are not.

@@TaiwanPlusDocs perhaps you can check the dictionary.. doubt it can be interpreted in many ways. Doing a documentary on a subject that you disrespect? On the other hand, there is alot of new superstitions ... the so called scientific superstitions - whatever info that claim to be scientific is taken to be true at face value.. only to be refuted later by new scientific discovery.. human remains gullible, what we need is wisdom to discriminate.

There are many things the human mind can't fanthom and quick to explain thru human's limited science knowledge. The hidden, deep knowledge amd memory of the brain is yet to be explored. Keep an open mind and don't judge the ability of sixth sense as a superstition. You are limited by what you think you know.
