Hi everyone, we’ve seen all your comments and really appreciate the feedback on how the interview was hosted. We just wanted to share a bit of context behind the process. When we edited the conversation, we made some choices to keep things focused, but we realised that in doing so, the flow of the conversation may have been affected. Creating a safe, open space is something that really matters to us, and we worked hard to make sure Mr. Eu felt comfortable talking openly with Kim in person. At the heart of it, we want to tell people’s stories as authentically as we can, and this is something we’ll continue to work on. Edit: We note that there was a sub error at 13:44. Richard was referring to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) instead of electronic road pricing.

You focus on what you want to hear and are totally clueless about your audience. If this is an easy, you should take it home and rewrite.

What a bs response to cover up for your flaws. OGS used to be awesome. Now? Milked dry and honestly uninspiring at best.

Just a suggestion to the interviewer, be more open and go with the flow instead of trying to interview with your handbook of questions, there's many things mentioned in this interview worth a few more follow-up questions, it seems Richard wanted to explain more but got interrupted by your new questions. Hope to see more of this! Thanks!

9:33 I was waiting for him to explain how the rational corporate entity saw him. Instead, she suddenly jumped into family things. Never see thing as choppy as this!

Yea same. Richard mentioned its the best thing that happen to be taken over by a corporate entity. Before he could elaborate, topic changed. 😢

Spoken to Mr Eu himself in my course of work N he is one of the most humble , straight talker gentleman I’ve met . This must be a precious air time to get him on the show . Read the comments on the way this interview is conducted . I guess we r all accustomed to the likes of Diana Ser kind of elegant eloquent high EQ style of interviewing . Thus Kim might come across as rough , interrupt at wrong moments etc . Mr Eu does has many stories to share .. prob more at the right time is an art . May OGS continue to strive better each time .

Hoping that Mr Richard Eu can write a memoir or books about his Eu family, business or sharing his life wisdom

Yea so true, in the start he was about to dive into something good but the random and unrelated questions kept coming up before he could even finish his story. Further this interview has not much relevance to the tittle of this video. Host needs to calm down and try less hard.

When he said he had a friend who was murdered, the interviewer asked, "Are you serious?" Who would joke about something like that during such an interview? Isn't this interviewer supposed to be a seasoned veteran?

There's something missing from the 8-11 min mark. He was saying that his uncles wanted him out and sold the business, and then suddenly they are talking about how he modernised the business. And also no mention of why Eu Yan Sang was sold recently to investors? I thought that was the reason behind the video title
@MrVirgo77 күн бұрын
Yes I was hoping to learn more on why so and I think Mr Eu was ready to elaborate more

Mr Eu, please write a memoir tell us the story of the past and the journey, as a record of Singapore history. Your first-hand narrative should be interesting.

Thank you for the interview! Would love to hear more from Mr Richard Eu. Personally, I find it difficult to listen to the host's way of questioning, didn't felt like it flowed. Would be helpful if she could mirror the interviewee's energy, Mr Eu was gentle and had more things to share but the interviewer was loud and gave close-ended statements. But it's not easy doing an interview that would be aired on the internet, good work nontheless!

Sadly, the interview doesn’t address why the family has decided to sell the Eu Yan Sang to Japanese company last year?

The interviewer and editing is all over the place. From management to legacy to current charity work. Highly unfocused. Mostly it reflects how we consume snippets of information from social media by millennials. Pity, Richard is a true gentleman. He has much more to share.
@zueinder8910 күн бұрын
I think I can overlook the weird tempo since we don't know how much of that is also due to the editing. However when the host said the line at 18:25, " even you procrastinate, so it's okay if we procrastinate." I am certain the host is definitely out of her depth for such interviews.

Thanks for this amazing topic covering one of Singapore's oldest brands. However, the interviewer could have done some research before the interview, she seemed quite ignorant about how things were run historically and the big societal picture on security, etc., in the post-war pre-independence days; these are not too remote even for the young today if one is interested and cares enough to read about them. She should also let the interviewee speak and not interrupt him. It was nonetheless a good show, and it was very informative. Thank you.

I liked how casual it was - definitely invites a much larger audience than the usual "official" podcasts/channels etc. I always put those "official" ones on my playlist but never watch them. This is v watchable. Think it could be long form content though (maybe a shorter video of excerpts and a longer one) since lots of people are saying they'd like elaboration at certain points
@stephenlim28526 күн бұрын
Let your interviewee talk and please ask less questions. We want to hear what he went through and not get interrupted all the time. Perhaps can you repost a longer version of the interview? Some of your audience who are interested in this genre of interviews are seinor citizens and we are available to view a longer interview.
