Great resonator blues, Lightnin Hopkins would be proud. Just watched "Sounder" again. Taj is a true renaissance man skilled in farming and studied classical piano as a youngster. Don't miss his blues banjo. Keep picking.

I saw Taj in 1983 or 84 in Juneau, AK. It was a very small audience in a very small native building. I consider myself very luck to have had that opportunity to see him playing right in front of me and looking at all of us! This was the mentality of Juneau, Alaska back then. Who is Taj Mahal and who cares? Hardly anybody shows up. When he was done he had everyone get up and have a dance party with him! I'm very curious if anyone know the real year this video was shot! Walkin Blues best ever!WOW

Uh, it's called "Walkin' Blues" and has been covered by many artists over the years. I don't know of a studio version by Tal Mahal, though.
@BlueLou9748 жыл бұрын
Yes, a studio version in his first album ( the one with that southern mansion & butterflies etc. 1967) , with a ( very) complete band, Jesse Ed Davis, Ry Cooder, & a bunch of incredible musicians. He plays slide guitar. Warning : addicting version...The actual tittle is " the celebrated walking blues".

The man opened up those Marin white folks to rap, which was just around the corner. They loved it.
