I did notice, when I put more weight in the front of the takacat the splashes is greatly reduced.

Great video! Our 6.5 is great unless we want to get somewhere. 2 miles on Danielle's birthday to get to an island was exhausting.

yea, I figured out the back splash and I am now able to get the takacat to plane out with the 15hp... loving it

Thanks for all your informative reviews! I've had a Takacat 380LX since 2021 and it has been exceptional I previously used Zodiac and Achilles boats but the catamaran hull design allows planing at about 7 mph or a little less, which is remarkably efficient compared to my prior boats. I have a tohatsu 6hp four stroke (57lbs) and a Yamaha 15 hp 2 stroke (85lbs). I'm able to plane with 2 onboard with the 6hp to about 12mph- (I'm only 140 lbs), alone I reach 14mph, but this is likely due to insufficient prop pitch as I reach max rpm at mid throttle- I'll be trying a 9" pitch prop soon for when I go alone as the light weight makes it effortless to put on and pull off. With the Yamaha, I reach 22mph alone and 16 to 18 with up to 4 onboard. I may try to get a tohatsu 9.8 2 stroke as a better 2 person alternative.

thats very cool, I thought about trying different props just haven't gotten to it yet. I do miss my 6hp and may buy another one in the future.

Been watching all of your takacat videos. Just bought a 380lx. Was initially thinking a 6Hp but at 95 pound the Tohatsu 20 seems like an option I will go with using in Florida keys. Thx!

Great combo, just watch the wheel kit if you plan on wheeling it around. Love the Tohatsu motors, they always seem to start first or second pull!!!! Enjoy it, best adventure portable boat I have ever owned!!!! post up some pictures!!!
