I own 2 TAKAMINE G Series and they sound amazing. I own 8 acoustic guitars in total, mostly higher end model dreadnoughts (Martin, Taylor, Gibson, etc). I've been playing for 17 years. This guy is making a sweeping generalization.

Of course there's a big difference between G and Pro Series. It's the same with any manufacturer's entry level and pro guitars. I've never had any problems with any of my G Series Takamines. Right out of the box, they sound amazing, WAY better than the Yamaha or Ibanez I used to have.

Lol the Takamine G series are the best guitars for the money. Great build quality, sound and PERFECT action. Yamaha? Sounds great and good build quality but action is always way out of wack.

I bought a 540C over 20yrs ago and still have it. I set it up the way i like it (removed 2 shims, files bridge slots tonget better break angle, slightly cut the nut slots and left a very tiny amount of relief in the neck) and its been one that I've kept all this time. It spunds good, plays very well and being a non solid wood guitar it handles temp and humidy changes very well. It hangs on the wall year round and always ready for a play. I never play it plugged in though, I have other guitars with way better pickups for that (LR Bags) and if im being honest id rather play electric if im plugging in anyway. Fpr a guitar to take out to the beach, to the forest or tonlet others play at my house my G series had been perfect. My friends liked the way i set mine up so much ive worked on thier guitars too. I dont charge friends much but over 20yrs the guitar had more than paid for itself. I bought a floor model in 2000 for 400 including tax so i got a decent deal on it too.

You must have bought a dud, which would be rare. Nothing wrong with a G series. Yes, the more expensive Takamines are better, but not everyone has the budget.

My GD93 sounds better than my Martin DSS-17 (made in USA) and my Dreadnought Jr.(made in Mexico)….all 3 sound good, but that Black Walnut on the back and sides on my Takamine really sings…. My Takamine GD93CE really “speaks” to me, and it’s half the price on my DSS….

You know why you have dead strings because your shim is up against the wire under your bridge My only grief with these guitars a right-handed 12 string costs 699 left-handed coats 1.900 i have a gd93ce I put wooden bridge pins on my guitar it's amazing

Just so everyone knows, a pickup not picking up the strings evenly usually just means the pickup itself is in the wrong position under the saddle. It's as simple as loosening the strings, pulling off the saddle and shifting the pickup. Do this until everything is even. If your volume still isn't even, put a partial shim ONLY under the section of the pickup where the strings are quiet and this will even out your tone. It's a very common problem with low-mid end piezos in general. Not just Takamines.

No entry level guitar will sound as good as a “pro” (top tier level) guitar. I’ve had a Tak G-330B for over 20 years, which is a entry level guitar. It was my first acoustic. Great guitar..it’s no Gibson. Certainly better than an Ibanez. Epiphone makes great entry level guitars that’s not on his list. This guy is mad over a pick up issue and trashed the entire brand.

I have a g-series I put a brand new battery in it it didn't fix the problem the pickups completely failed and cut out it was working most of the time but when this happens at a gig it's a bad thing I have owned a lot of other guitars and the g-series is not a reliable instrument

I've been Playing over 40+ yrs. and with a good setup, I'll put my $125.00 I paid in 1990 at a pawnshop for my EG530SSC Takamine, and I'll put it up against any 1000 gutair anytime😉 Now let's not get it twisted my 1941 Martin D-28 is in another level, But my Taka will hold her own all day long!!!!
