Takamine unusual fix for neck reset and crushed body repair. Don't think I've seen this done before... but then again I haven't watched ever video on the web. :-)

I have a Washburn 12 string that has the exact same crack the same side as the cutaway but mine is not a cutaway guitar. I was told by one shop the repair would be 1,200 but another shop said $225. I don't know why that happens as it is really discouraging, as I have Autism, and no matter how many times I told the first shop that I want it fixed but can't afford it, they proceeded to talk down to me about it. The guitar is sentimental to me, because a really good friend from highschool gave it to me and I still have it many years later. I just hope the one for $225 can make it look as good as you did with that Takamine

Cool idea for neck angle!

They claim those notches assist in directing the vibration from each string to the saddle and guitar without mixing say the A vibration with the Low E and on down the line. The gaps are between the strings, steps.

I must read up on that... nevertheless the vast majority of the neck resets I get are on this shape of guitar... or those plastic bloody Ovation copies. :-)

I'd like to send you my 12 string as I would happily donate to your animal charity. I love animals, and as I said before I am Autistic, and I don't know where I would be without my dogs. Plus I always like going to zoos and such. Animals are a blessing and I love them a lot

Nice work. That neck fit looked like these repairs were a foregone conclusion. You do good work. I just wonder if the owner is throwing good money after bad.

I do not charge... that is why it was done. I agree with you if I had charged it would have been a waste but I only ask my clients to make a donation to an animal charity.

Informative, but the video title is misleading. Did you actually reset the neck?

I have two Takamine classicals which I really like, the C132S and the H8SS. Takamine claims they are designed like a Torres. Torres used a Spanish heel, as I understand it; do you know what type of heel design is used on takamine classicals? Thx. Update : I sold the C132S. ESP doesn’t seem to sell it anymore as well.
@LennonLuthierFinagler2 жыл бұрын
I think... they are Spanish style as well.

I have had a few takamine classical, as in over a hundred, , many different model numbers. not a single one was built with the Spanish style neck attachment. perhaps someone is using the term "Torres style" to describe that a guitar has a fan bracing pattern somewhat like a Torres.

Looks to me like the neck needs to be pulled up from the headstock and that should pull that piece forward or pull the decal in alignment.

God help me the mortising on the neck joint was just terrible. Just look at the upper part of it ...

Why not use a hardwood mahogany shim for the neck?
