I had a 60 Undead Warrior and it was a pain to level, the racials were useless, I got weird looks from my group every time I started tanking and had to prove myself to every raid guild I joined, people pointed and laughed when I hit BG’s, but that was by far my most favorite toon ever. But I’m certainly not rolling it again for Classic, think I’ll try out Orc but you two have got me reconsidering Night Elf.

Choosing a race for leveling efficiency is akin to choosing a class for leveling efficiency. You may as well just play a hunter. The reality is that you only need to level to 60. This will take around 6-10 days played. The average raider, pvper or casual player will spend at least 20 days played AT 60 over time. Also cannibalize is NOT as valuable as weapon skill for leveling. All of us warriors know this... using a swing timer and hamstring kiting motivates tons of damage. Warriors don’t have regen issues after combat because they have a full spirit set to quick swap to between fights. The largest factor that slows warriors is throughput and the best way to improve throughput is weapon skill and hit rating. This is why “the most overpowered pair of leveling gloves” during BC from level 60-70 were edgemasters handguards. Warriors were taking off their tier 3 gloves to equip a level 30 epic pair of gloves with weapon skill. I would also argue that surviving as a warrior often is more important than regen. Tauren, Orc and Troll ALL give exclusive tools that could be used to prevent a death, undead do not. Regen is not an issue for warriors who are playing properly but surviving the fight may be.

@@DeusVultGamer No it doesn't. Since you WANT melee range as a Warrior, it is only an advantage when it comes to non-melee classes, and neutral when its comes to melee. If you are a healer or a hunter it is a disadvantage, since you don't want melee range. Does that healer want you having extra melee range when you are mortal striking them? Do healers/casters/hunters need extra melee range on you? Of course not.

I can't believe they didn't mention the fact that, as a Horde race, you don't have paladin competition on gear. This is absolutely enormous. Think about the overall PVE impact of this: no one rolling against you on shit in dungeons. If you're a tank, once your DPS warriors are geared in a raid, guess who instantly gets defaulted all the DPS items? Yup. The minor stat differences are nothing compared to the benefits of simply having less competition. People are forgetting how fucking loot starved the original game was. The amount of time is takes to acquire gear is a HUGE factor.

dunno, everyone talkin about how great that orc stun resistance racial is vs rogues, but you gotta consider that rogues are aware of that as well. If they facing orks and know about talent stun resist and racial stun resist, why would then even decide to gamble their hard earn combo points by goin for stun anyway. In my personal opinion that racial is only good vs bad rogues. Every rogue worth of their salt will bleed orks out instead. But it also depends on situation, rogue will try to bleed in 1 on 1, but in some other situations he may opt for something else.

Undead warrior is a good choice. You can break warlock seduce and you can be MUCH more liberal with your berserker rage and also not be forced into zerker stance vs fear classes. The model is smaller as well which IS an advantage. Shadow resistance can help a tiny amount too.

@@nonenone-pk1gi Smaller models definitely aren't an advantage when you're the one trying to hit things. Bigger models = bigger hitboxes, which means you can hit enemies from further away when they are trying to kite you. Taurens have a MUCH easier time dealing with Hunters & Mages than an Undead ever will.

@@porcu12345 Hey Hawken, you're absolutely correct, and there are videos testing this. One thing worth pointing out, is that there are only two hitboxes. Tauren, and everyone else. Even Gnomes and the next largest race, Orcs - share the exact same size hitbox. Just model size is different. I believe the exact ingame measurements are 5 yards, and 7 yards for Tauren. Tauren tanks are no where near as good as people say. That 5% extra health, you ONLY benefit from it when you are in that small health bracket where if you were another race you would be dead, but if you were a Tauren you would be alive. It is very, very rare that this amount of health will save you, as you would likely just die making the racial useless. If you are above that amount of extra health, the Tauren health racial is also useless making it a very misunderstood racial Trolls having increased haste increases your threat output, and as a tank you will be in more situations to get a bigger benefit from it, making it quite handy. In general though, not many good races for a Horde tank, so just play what race you like the most.

Here we go again, "you don't need Tauren otherwise your healers suck!" Sorry buddy, but when you are progressing that 5% health is game changing. In progression situation, the only situation that count when min/maxing, yes it is important, very important. Troll racial = also depends on low health, has a decently long cooldown and a low uptime. Also much of the theorycrafting comes off of private servers. We know now that classic will have higher parry (means half the time on their next attack), making the 5% OH SHIT MORE HEALTH PLZ very important. Can the Troll racial be decent? Probably. But your safe bet is Tauren. And the whole, "play the race you like" is fine, but we know all other races look better then Trolls.

literal garbage that they glossed over it trolls have best pure dps cooldown since it doesnt piss off your healers, you can die a lot if you use it as a dps and aren't careful and your raid isnt on point, stacking spirit is awesome and you never have to eat while levelling/grinding, the spirit working in combat increases survivability, it really is the patrician race for melee in general

Not saying they are the best for anything but undead warriors don't want WotF for breaking fear. Its also able to remove and immune for 5 secs; Mind control, Gnomish mind control cap, Seduce, Wyrven Sting (rarely used), Magic Dust (farmed in westfall and used in pvp) and I believe Goblin Rocket Helm effect (which was all over the place in pvp) same effect as horned viking helm. There may be more but those are the ones I remember. Cannabalize is also useful, as well as the small buff to shadow resist. Also, you were usually in berserker stance in pvp but in the off chance you were trying to disarm or overpower and in another stance, then wotf could be useful for fear. Especially vs the better priests, locks, and warriors who would recognize a stance change as a time to use fear. Don't forget that the pvp trinket in vanilla for warriors only removed stun, root and slow.

Undead is utter trash compared to Orc. 5% base stun resist with hardiness puts orcs at 25-30% before speccing. Wanna know why undead really sucks though? Because 40-45% of your realm will be undead. So almost no allies play priest or lock in PvP compared to how populated those 2 classes are on horde because they are countered by almost half of their opposition. Due to this, the Orcs racial, which is already better, compounds in value because you counter an even Higher amount of your opponents. Stun has no internal cool down and can proc at anytime. Would you prefer to counter charms, fears and sleeps on a 2 min cool down (priest and warlock - there are almost no ally locks). Or...... would you take hardiness to counter pally stun, warrior charge and intercept, rogue cheap shot and kidney, Druid bash and pounce, mage stun, shadow priest stun, engi nade stun, hunter intimidation and concuss stun if specd, tidal charm, and sooooo many more. You already have the tools to remove fear several times, you will encounter FAR more stuns than fears and you’re getting a 25% resist to stuns. If orcs ONLY had this as a racial, they would still be the best pvp race by a landslide. Their other facials (which are also great) are just sprinkles.

Alliance PvE tank: Night elf hands down. Quite amazing some people who min/max all day don't know what the highest agi (nelf) + extra dodge (nelf racial) does for a tank? Granted in the last video you spoke about you can tank as fury and I don't disagree. The usual mindset is when playing warrior "always carry a shield, ju in case". There are more swedish vikings out there then Taka but glad I'm not the only old sob here. Nästan lika mycket skägg =) Taka makes a good comment for pve though, play what you like looking at (or what you want). Fully agree. Vanilla/Classic is about you and your toon. Gnome best pvp? Sure small and hard(er) to target but let me tell you that escape artis, sure short cd unlike some other racials but only one anti root, snare, immobalize. Vs a mage sure but gold snap 2nd root (can't always expect to get clense/dispel from healers) and it is quite easy to re apply snares. Rogue's poisions, hunter's concusive shots and so on. I guess +5 eng skill for some very few trinkets win or break it for some poeple. If you want to play Gnome by all means but I wouldn't give the advice as best. I am little against this "what is best, best, best, best" type of questions, especially for Classic when having fun with your toon is more important as things takes its sweet time but if I must say imho, dwarfs then for pvp. Gnome/nelf human 2nd for their own uses. Want that one time free snare, open from stealth/ambush or see stealthers a lot easier each 3mins. I mean if we're talking about alliance. Play warrior with blessing of freedom (on main warrior at BS in AB), yes please. More effective over a longer period then rely on a racial or spend consumables for it like FaP and such. Unless we are only talking about min/max 40man naxx/AQ or rank 12-14, play what you like. No "fotm/op/best" is going to make you continue if you don't like your toon. Fun is needed to invest your time and effort in it. All from ranged/melee/heal animations, how gear looks and such. I would fear any good player who know what s/he is doing in "not best" races anyday over the other side of the spectrum. From a man who played 7 mmo's during my time as of yet, the secret is having FUN with your toon. Fun = more time played = better geared = better skilled = less chance of reroll etc. Best of regards, thanks for the upload and have a good one!

Dodge and agi is nice, but the weapon skill bonus for humans is so good since it's extra hit chance + stronger glancing blows = more threat.

Please do not follow this advice. NE is trash for tanking for anything but the casual guilds. Threat is the main focus point of a proper warrior in semi competitive guilds, and for that NE are trash as extra dodge only means you'll get less rage from being hit, which is the greatest rage generator as a tank. Furthermore the extra weapon skill of a warrior allows for a lower hitcap which is essential for threat.

Simply saying "don't follow this advice" means don't take into consideration with everything else that was said. I would not throw away info from someone who played since open beta days, 40yo gamer (25 in vanilla unlike many others), 7 mmo's under his belt (but prefer having both feet on the ground insted of elitist snob). Just because some folks prefer to live on the forums/guides more then actually play the games. Common issue these days. Got to rank 11-12 back in the day but I was more serious with my studies/work and did not go for rank 14, as for pve, up to AQ, but I guess don't listen to me. You got all the rights not to do so. EDIT: So don't listen to a word I'm saying here folks. Go check the forums, guides and youtube videos only for info. God forbid having self ingame experience from playing the game =)

Shadow Meld is by far the most handy of the racials. He talked about some, but others are: PVP: dropping combat for a second charge, stopping casts targeting you, and it helps in flag watching. PVE: If you pull to many mobs or think your going to die, lets you drop combat and let the mobs run off. Raiding: it can save your life all the time. it my not drop your agro lvl, but it lets you temporarily drop agro if a boss turns on you. Most other racial are reactionary, use A if B happens. Shadow Meld is more 3 dimensional. it can be used during, before, to end or to avoid fights.

if you get basic shit like glancing blows wrong then im not interested in the other 1656 parts. glancing blows do 30% less dmg and not 40. and your dmg is not reduced on every single hit. you have a 40% chance epr wep swing to get a glancing blow. a glancing blow reduces dmg by 30% and the hit will always be non crit. 1 point of wep skill increases dmg by arround 3%. also wep skill is overrated in a fully woldbuffed grp since you are not white hitting for the most part, but thats a different storry
