Wow man! you nailed it right on the head. Much respect for you mentioning the k o even though you don't go that route yourself. Also got a big laugh from the blender gag, perfect followup to the missed opportunity for a garbage disposal gag. Just got all six Toyworld Constructicons today, gonna display them in vehicle mode for now since there isn't any other combiners this tall to display with, and my combiner wars Devastator with add on kit and reprolables looks about right with my oversize Feral Rex and Oversize Uranos As always, keep up the great work!

The mess on the legs kill it for me. Well, cya at Dirge. Always been my fave under Acid Storm. Also, what do you think about the KOs that act more like 3P stuff? You know; where they upgrade the figure like the M01. You wouldn't like the M01; the tolerances are all over the place. Just asking in general.

so on his shoulder there is a part that flips out and has a square hole on the top....any idea what this is for? also on the back that has the tab that always gets forgotten ,well below it there is another part that rotates but dont know why or what for....also sometimes a "KO" version is nice for the figures that are always in the back and are priced way better for that reason ......always a great review, Thanks!

I'm curious though Bob... What are your thoughts on the new KBB version of Thrust? It looks like they are utilizing the modern seeker mold like they did with their version of Screamer, Skywarp, and Thundercracker. But, they are mixing that mold with old Igear Conehead molds... From the shots I've seen so far it looks great, my biggest concern is their face / head sculpts, as the photos are not very clear. As someone who has both the new MP Thrust and the old Igear version I'd like to know your take on what KBB is releasing? Thanks!

That's for the honest review Bobby, this has really made me think about whether or not I'm going to purchase the upcoming MP Megatron. Your video, made me think about how dissatisfied I was with MP Thundercracker. There were so many quality issues with that purchase that steered towards KO's. I'm simply not going to purchase the Takara versions just to 'check them off the list" because if I do, it validates that Takara can push out over priced crap. That doesn't cut it with me.

Got this and Primal at the same time on Monday. Between the 2 Primal is the better of them. My legs at the hips are crap but my knees are fine. The only positives are the face sculpt and folding null rays to me.

I think a lot of the issues on the 'Coneheads' are down to how they're being assembled. Having just picked up the 2nd release of Asia Exclusive MP-11SW Skywarp. I can confirm he's super tight and everything pegs in as it should with no floppiness what so ever. I wonder if they're being produced/assembled in different factories? According to their packaging, both were produced in China, but the QC on Skywarp seems to be a lot higher IMO.

the hips on my Thrust have the exact same problem. I am pretty sure its not a casting problem, its an assembly issue... simply workers who are so rushed to make the 5 newly released MP figures before Xmas... that they make mistakes. do you know of any way to tighten that hip? I looked at it, but I have no idea what kind of tool to use.

I agree with you on the price vs quality on this one. It seems like we pay more for less. Not to claim that KO's and 3rd party has anything to do with this, but you sort of have to ask the question though... One issue I have with the seekers in particular is the pointless engineering choises! That flap on the back of the jet mode, the cockpit gimmic and the nose cone radar thing... Whats the point? That space within the mold could have been used better in my opinion. It could have opened for a better way to hide that nose cone in bot mode, making it even cleaner than it is! And as far as assembly issues goes, that shouldn't even be a "thing" with Takara at this point! What the hell, Takara?!? The brand "Masterpiece" should meen something, right? Takara needs to get their mojo back, and fast! Can't wait to see how they did Inferno, and if it will have any issues. Its a new mold entirely, so expectations are high for me! By the way, Bob! Did you hit that pre-order button for the MP-36 Megatron yet? Thats going to be a epic one to have a look at and compare, due to the failure of the MP-05 and alot of 3rd party figures LOL!

I have the Skywarp reissue on preorder since I missed out on him the 1st time around and this has me very concerned. It feels like they are just rushing these MPs out trying to keep up with 3rd party. It is such a wobbly mess and at about the same price point. I've heard good things about the KO Skywarp which is much cheaper and this creates a dilemma for me when there shouldn't be. Now they want $220+ for the new megatron. Prices are getting out of hand especially when a KO can be made better at a cheaper price point.

I can tell you, if the ko Dirge beats Takara to market and is well reviewed, and even if they are close, I'm not gonna bother buying the 6th and final official.

Good review. Official/Masterpiece has been short changing the fandom for a while. For re-releasing the same characters with better designs to having the g1 cars too small to bleeding this mold dry and over pricing. As a community we praise the officials but imo there are more misses than hits and we have to ask ourselves are officials the best or could 3rd party do it better?

I get your position on this. If you can't bring yourself to support a KO that is cool and I respect that. We also already know that KOs also have major QC issues. We can dance around that fact all day saying this one is better than that one. But in the end, it's a KO. I am looking into the Toyworld option simply because I really don't want all eight figures to be completely identical. If they are a bit larger that's fine. I simply look at them and think, they are foot soldiers and a bit dim. It makes sense they would be slightly larger because you want the cannon fodder to be a bigger target. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself.

Hey bud, the problem with the hips is the silver flat head screw. Some people have had success using pliers, or a C clamp to just push it that 1 notch further in. Or, the metal washer under the flat head is paper thin. You can cut it off and put a thicker nylon washer in and you're sorted :) I had the same problem with my Ramjet, but I pulled the whole thing apart and replaced the flat head with a larger screw, washer and lube.

(Now I have to see if I can figure out the difference between the KBB ones and the BB7 ones) I share your feelings about supporting KOs, but there's a limit to my ethics. I'm getting him, plastic addict that i am but yeah its for completions sake now and the TW one isn't for me. Didn't Make Toys tease some MP (and cross dimention) ones too, if so and they follow through on them at least you know they'll be solid, even if they have that MT styled look. Well he's turned up and, well, its fine. Mine is far less loose than your copy it seems with just the wing assemblies having a rattle, the legs seem good for this mold. The hips are the same but the other releases have the screw forward too so I have to give them that. Given the price tho fine isn't right. One more and we're done tho and need never speak of it again.

One thing I would say is that I agree for the cost (£144 here) tolerances should be better I think stood in a shelf along with the rest of the group it will still look good and some of the faults won't matter as much.

The Yes Model/BB7 KOs are good. My Skywarp and Thundercracker are significantly better than the official releases (wings don't attach to the back that well though) - way less floppiness and a better waist connect. I'll probably complete that set of six (also the YM coneheads design looks better than this IMO). I have had good experience dealing with TF-direct. I don't have a problem with KOs now given how miserable Tak/Hasbro is, and how sketchy a company Hasbro has been over the years (no fan mail given to Peter Cullen?). Thanks for the review.

I have one KO in my collection and its that skywarp. The only reason I have it, is because I felt that giving TT the 750 bucks for the rest of the set was enough. My only goal for this set is to have a uniformed group that is 90% cartoon accurate, and unfortunately this is the only set that fits the bill. The KO versions so far look like re purposed igear molds and that just doesn't do it for me. Once dirge is out i will be satisfied and i can check this whole set off my list and never spend a dime on a seeker and conehead again.

Ironically, I used this video to transform my first seeker... a KO (BB7) Thundercracker. Picked up Skywarp too. They are FLAWLESS. I have serious hate in my heart for the practice of stealing that collector "milk money" with exclusives of old molds, license or not. Will be getting the official Starscream re-release in April (And Soundwave, and Megatron, and the tapes...FML) Will get them all because they are retail releases.

Yeah, the hips are miss assemble. Wasn't Takara assure us that there are not gonna be QCs on Thrust? (I may heard wrong) Anyway after my experience on the 3rd Party MArket, I can say that MP Thrust is NOT a 180+$ Figure compare it to FansToys, MakeToys or even X-Transbots(that is a new low). I am waiting on mine and I am scared of what I will got, I can understand why they are milking the mold just like the original Series did but at the very least they could inspect the product before they let it out, not even that but now I am more skeptical on the future releases such as Inferno or the up coming Megatron. I do not want to "bash" Takara but if they charge up to 180+ for a mold then they should deliver a good build. God knows what we will get when Dirge comes around.

God Takara is getting so incredibly lazy... This is the 7th (at least 7th) version of this mold now, and they continue to release these figures with the same issues we've seen since it's original release. On top of that they're finding new ways to put even more issues in them... Ramjet had the shoulder issue, and the hips on your figure are in reverse. My god! It's almost laughable at this point. Meanwhile KBB is releasing this very same mold with some incredibly minor fixes resolving all of those issues. And, they're doing it with the same quality plastics, at a price point of $99.99, even as low as $79.99 this month while their on sale. There is absolutely no excuse, and honestly there's no reason to pay these Takara prices for such an inferior product. It's absurd, and they are simply banking on brand loyalty at this point.

The problem here is that the KO doesn't even work for me either. Even if you are ok with buying a KO figure, the two companies making KO seekers (which are both making very solid figures) plan on doing more unique coneheads that don't look as good or toon accurate as these. Most people seem to want a menacing set of coneheads and therefore mroe companies seem to be going that route. I don't. I have always seen the coneheads as the bumbling idiot younger brothers of the seekers. Where Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp are menacing, fast, cunning, and all around badass as a team, Ramjet, Thrust, and Dirge are foolish, slow, and cumbersome. I love the goofy and blundering look of the takara ones, I just wish they were made at the quality of other masterpiece figures.
