Great review, I am surprised you didn't talk about the gap around his feet but luckily there is a way to fix that by rotating a small piece to cover the gap up.

I think the issue with Tracks is he has a bit more complicated design than other cars. It's all about shapes, features, and where to fit it all. Something like his wings are not natural to the car itself as opposed to the door wings on Prowl as an example. None of that excuses the emotionless face, or non pegging shoulders though... He is just a robins egg in a chickens nest, he stands out for his oddities. I'll have mine soon to make a more hands on opinion.

Also if you tab the doors into the back, it makes the backpack sit in a way that it's mostly out of the arms movement. it still has it's issues but just a couple things I've noted.

Generally I find your opinions tends to be different from my own, but this time 100% aligned. Can't understand how people can say the huge gap between the "core" body and the back piece is "ok" Or the fact that his head and arms sideways are basically attached to the /front/ of the chest... instead of middle/back. Uncanny valley effect is insane when looking at tracks sideways. Despite I find your views tends to be different, your reviews are great IMO since they are your honest opinions and that deserves respect.

If you put in your mirrors, unfold the door for leverage(and not to break it in half) and push the mirror in by the post. They go all the way in and fit flush but it requires a little force. mine kept falling out until I did that.

Great review man! I tried to tell people on tfw forums before your review was up and I got crushed for badmouthing an official Takara mp. Which in my opinion I'll be looking for a 3rd party tracks to replace him sometime in the future. He is fine just chilling on the shelf, but Takara shouldn't be proud of their effort. lol you missed the same tranformation step that I did! When you do the ankles, there is a little blue piece that forms the front of the car that you are meant to rotate around to fill the ankle gap more. Looks a lot better and then the grey shin piece can peg in place better too!

Yea I did miss those ankles. The grey bit when plugged in "properly" still isn't very secure on mine and makes him look bowlegged. I forgot to mention that bit.

The way the hood opens is cartoon accurate, but not real Corvette accurate. Personally I would have preferred it Corvette accurate, but I understand why they have done it this way. I know most people aren't too fond of him, but I like him much better than Bumblebee, Wheeljack, Sideswipe, and Smokescreen, that's also why I got the black one too.

Not to be that guy, but there's several transformation mistakes. The doors peg into the back, the cheat pegs into the shoulders, the front of the car folds up at the ankles for clearance, and the feet swing down and peg into a slot. None of that will probably effect your opinion except maybe the foot stuff.

Great review as always uncle Skullface. Tracks was one of the only G1 transformers o had has a kid so I will get this for sentimental reasons, but yeah, this is nowhere near the level or stature of Wheeljack or the Datsun's. Come on Takara, step your game up!

My suggestion to the designer would be, the wings should "sit" beneath the "rims" of the backpack. (Sorry, it's 5am here. Can't think of a word at the moment). Then the "backpack" would be more compact. The reason why you find the shouldes weird because it sit too front of the chest. It would look better if the wheel shoulders sit slightly back. 5.5/10 for this fig from me, based on your vid review.

Saw you referenced on TFW so I came to check you out, I appreciate your ability to look beyond the shiny paint that seems to be dazzling many people. You got a Sub. I agree with you on how tracks is lacking when put into his official by the instructions transformation. It's my opinion that having to mistransform the figure to fix some problems is not really good on the grounds that none of the previous figures in the line required any mistransformation or fanmoding to keep them from untabbing or having clearance issues. Fanmoding like pulling the head up past it's stop to keep it from falling down, that isn't in the instructions and at the point the stop is the base that the head mounts to is perfectly level with the chest as though it was designed to stop there... then it falls down with the lightest breath :/ The backpack on those previous molds you showed also had a very definite place to be and they all tab or soft ratchet into their spot.. (and your Datsun one should be higher up with the two tabs holding it securely, one of the Datsun features I love...) I also can't really believe they use just 2 clear plastic pegs that are somewhat loose fit to hold the chest tabbed in in robot mode :( I am going to be lynched for saying this but... I think MP-5 tabs together more securely then Tracks >.> P.S. I HATE having bad things to say about Tracks... I want to like it :(

As always great review. Your not wrong about everything you said.........but with that said this figure gave me the rare "wow" feeling once I stood him next to the other car dudes. So much so that none of the other figures are standing in front of him, NEXT TO HIM YES, lets hide that gap...lol.

A great review as always, but this is the first time I have a different opinion to yours I think the mould is really good and I’m in for road rage because of this. Most of the articulation issues you pointed out are fixable the back pack armature can be straightened to pull the back pack further away from the body freeing up the shoulders and the foot armature can be swung down to free up the feet and have better access to the rocker and tilt. Doing these mean that the back does go further out and he’s taller then the others but both are adjustable, I’m ok with this as it does not cause stability issues or affect the profile of the figure. Also the front grill of the car can be rotated up to fill in inside ankle and allows you to plug in the shins securely. I don’t want to be that guy who points out every little details I just need to voice my opinion as it’s the first time its differed and as you know opinions are like butts we all have one and its ok if its different. Also wondering when we will see 40k on the channel I would love to hear Skullface’s thoughts on the new Tau miniatures as we all love robots here. Sorry for the long post

The Binaltech Tracks almost seems better than this. Sure it is not as posable, but that one was made out of metal and came out years ago. The MP line just seems to be getting worse. I really like my MP Prowl. I may pick up Wheeljack in the future. Tracks, Ironhide, Hotrod, and Shockwave all look off to me. They look cheap and awkward. FT Hotrod maybe the one to go with. Shockwave is a toss up between Quakewave and Quakeblast. I just don't have plans to buy any of the future "Masterpiece" figures made by Takara, which is sad since I want to support the official version. I'm the type who won't buy the KO's because I feel the company that spent the time and energy creating the design deserves the money. However, I won't put up with subpar products just because a company holds the "official" license for something. They really need to get better designers for these things. BTW: What do you think of the pumped up steroid version of Galvatron coming up by FT?

I love the fact how we are gonna get the fembot repaint (which somehow I forgot the name), and its easy to expect a black tracks repaint, and then thats it

I dunno, maybe I have him transformed wrong but I got the backpack to compact a little more which made it a little tidier. but I agree with everything you said I hate the shoulders, they just look awkward and those wings just get in the way. I haven't played with his leg kibble to make him taller cause i'm just to lazy for that hassle the height doesn't bother me to much. Nice review as always.

Wow tracks is one of my favorites, Im not sure what it was but something was weird about your backpack. Also the feet and ankles can come down a little more for more ankle articulation and height

2 things i noticed to make him look better: 1) the backpack can be brought closer to the body...just push the blue and grey backpack joint up and that will bring it closer...thus making him look better proportioned 2) instead of bring his head all the way forward, i keep mine tucked back a little. that makes his chest look bigger and again helps with the backpack proportions. having said that, i am very happy with his robot mode. however for mine in the car mode i can't seem to get the windshield back tight against the hood and doors. could you show a reverse transformation? i feel like i am missing something with that step............

wow you really don't like it that much? i really think it's cool actually! the windshield part though throws me....i am pretty sure it just sorta has a gap seeing how there aren't tabs. you have to give it props though how they basically made him a triple changer...and the hood opens! how cool is that? i think the engineering is amazeballs on this guy! :)

Man, I can't help getting scared when looking at you transforming a MP, dude! You (and a few others) seem so brutal about it LOL! (By the way, Im just checking out some of your older videos :D) Now... Im not sure how I feel about Takara using a new designer on the MP line... The last one did so great, and after I got my Tracks, I kind of got sceptical about the future of these MP's. I guess that the next one from this designer is Ironhide, right? I saw a prototype transformation video on MP-27, and Im not sure what to think of it... I meen, the MP-27 transformation looks clever, but there are some bits and pieces that makes me think twice about the MP line now. Stuff doesn't seem to have the same MP quality that we're used to, but the price range seem to stay the same. They also seem to add some straight out useless features and accessories that I'll never use. They should knock the price down, skip the stuff like the human figures and other accessories that isn't important to the figure, and rather release these accessories as a seperate product. Most people display their MP figures in bot mode with the gun anyways, so where does the rest of the stuff go? Straight back in the box or some where else! Thats where my stuff went anyways. And speaking of the human figures in the MP line. If they did make them a seperate product, they could probably release a bunch of other human characters as well. And while on that topic, it wouldn't hurt if these human figures went through a redesign process. I meen... Come on! Articulation, paintjob, mold details? All of that can easily be improved on, instead of just slapping a cheap piece of s"bliiiiip"t together! The technology of today is so impressive, so why not use it? That Raol figure is a slap in the face to me. The very least they could have done with him would be to to do the same as they did with Spike and Daniel figures. That static worthless thing looks like a sorry excuse to add a buck or two to the price, which brings me back to my point about seperate products as far as those figures goes. We've got 2 Spike figures and 1 Daniel. I could need a Sparkplug, Chip and several others from the G1 cartoon on my shelf, but they need to look like they belong together. Raol looks like a water bottle on the beer shelf to me, and I can't even look at that thing, dude! I don't even like to see the water bottles so close to the beer bottles when Im at the store. They simply just don't go well together. Its either water OR beer, not both of them! Maybe that was a bad comparison, but you probably get my point, right?

He looks just like Tracks in car and bot mode, to me, and that's great. I agree that gaping backpack could have collapsed better, but it doesn't bother me much. QC-wise, however, I have issues with the elbows not bending the full 90 degrees, his head flopping about at the hinge joint, and both legs having that "looseness" you mentioned on your left leg. And yes, the shoulder pieces un-tab from the chest piece if you look at them funny. These are all design choices that simply don't work after factory production. So many small annoyances that add up, and just don't compare to previous car-bots like Prowl or Wheeljack. Shame.

Not that I have the figure, but I've seen on the box on Baltmatrix's review where the backpack is suppose to go down more....apparently that is NOT the case...not sure if it got photoshop that way or what but I think that is the proper way to make him look, I think, not sure how to go about that though.

Great review mr skullface. He looks great but has issues that shoudn't be in a masterpiece. I agree with the face sculpt. I would prefer a more angry look for him. All in all good figure but not the best.

As always awesome review. Do you think that they are limiting themselves on how far they can push the bot mode due to the constrictions they have with these licensed alt modes? Had they not gone the licensed route they may have been able to exaggerate the alt modes enough to really nail the robot.

+DrewsiferXXX Shogo Hasui did the best car molds in the last few years, including Sideswipe, Prowl, and Wheeljack, but as you pointed out, he wasn't involved in this next lineup that included Ironhide (probably pulled off MP to work on movie and Combiner lines). I think Hasui achieved the perfect combination of clever transformation, cartoon likeness, and articulation, for this scale of cars. Tracks is alright, but felt a bit lacking in each category by comparison.

Takara Megatron was my first nail in the coffin for Takatomy. I had to buy a knockoff Ratbat because fuck buying another Soundwave for one cassette. I preordered Tracks even though I always thought the character was a douchecanoe, but I love Vettes. I watched a review of him and thought well...maybe it won't be that bad. It's not. It's worse. The car is not even in proper scale with the rest of the autobots. Same with Bumblebee. The kibble is unforgivable, the dead soulless face has no Spark, and overall it's a waste of money. I made up my mind right then I was pretty much done preordering MP Transformers from Takara. There was a time when knockoffs and 3rd party "transforming toys" were complete garbage(I got burned on an Alternators Wheeljack that literally fell apart as I was taking it out of the box.) Now, frankly, if it's not FansToys or Badcube, I am barely even interested. I have Quakewave, and I didn't even blink when I saw MP Shockwave go up. Ironhide is a busted turd and I agree with you his sculpt is just wrong. This is not to say that Sunsurge or Spotter or the FT Insecticons are perfect, but the FT Dinobots are *spectacular*, FT Shockwave was incredible even if his legs are slightly off. Gundog is spot on, and even looks slightly influenced by Guido Guidi's work. So nah. Takara needs to fire the shit for brains designer and bring someone in who knows how to make Transformers *right.* Classics and Deluxe used to be cool, but now everything is Duplo levels of inarticulate clunky garbage. Gobots would be embarrassed by the non-MP molds they are pushing out. And takara seems to hate the fans. "What do you want?!" *JAZZ! DINOBOTS THAT DON'T SUCK! HOUND! CLIFFJUMPER! TRAILBREAKER! Constructicons! Combaticons! And the OST to the G1 cartoon!* "Nani? Ok, here's Tracks, Star Saber, and another version of Rodimus Prime no one wanted! We fucked up Ironhide, but LOVE US!"

Bobby you have some mistransformation going on here. Those shin guards actually lock in to place. There's a piece near the bottom of the leg that's supposed to swing up and lock that peg on the shin in place. Also those ankle armatures lock into place. If you look under the leg you should see a slot for the peg in the grey armature to lock in. Nothing you can do to fix the backpack unfortunately

Dude if you got a figure with paint flaws you shpuld contact the retailer you got it from to get a replacement... btw this is common knowledge that everybody tends to forget XD....

Jetfire48 Thanks for your input. However, I wouldn't make the assumption that I don't know that - I didn't say I wasn't going to return it or didn't know about this. However, I wasn't sure if it was going to fall under 'manufacturer's defect', as the understanding of many sellers/buyers is that toys are inherently often not perfect. For example, a lot of anime fig dealers state specifically that paint imperfections are considered normal. I'll probably return it, but the more things you return to a place that aren't severely defective, the more of a pain you might seem to them, and maybe they won't be as compromising in the future. Just my thoughts on the issue. Plus I kind of think that given that it's Has-Tak it is just going to arrive screwed up again (some of the marks are from the packaging that presses against it that it is unprotected from), and maybe next time even more defective!

I feel like Hasbro is doing a money grab because 3p companies are getting better at putting quality products out. Feels like they're rushing. Ironhide and Ratchet are a joke lol and I'm afraid future Masterpiece products will suffer while they continue to try to catch up.

I gotta be honest, I don't really understand why fans bitch about articulation or lack of with the masterpiece or even the generations Transformers. I pretty much just compare them to what we got with the G1 toys and think what have I got to complain about? As for the backpack, is there anyway you can move it down further? I noticed it was on a double hinge of sorts. and It looks as though it can be lowered.

+Destined Tofail no it can not be lowered down any further. there is a video out there where a guy shows you how to take it apart and shave pieces off with an exacto blade to get it to lower more. in regard to articulation, i think that it SHOULD have evolved from where it was 30 years ago and should be compared to other figures in its line, and honestly, other competing companies. the problem with this guy is that he falls short when compared to figures released prior to him. thats the issue, it should always be the opposite. thanks for watching though and i hope that helps better explain why people have such high expectations for this line. best wishes

My masterpiece Transformers are brought purely for display, so the negative factors aren't really an issue for me. But I do appreciate that you point them out and make people aware of them. But even with everything that is wrong, it's still not the worst MP we've had. That goes to Star Saber.

The head sculpt is the biggest let down. His eyes are way to small, if they were larger and a lighter shade of blue (like Road Rage) he would have been so much nicer. All the rest I can live with.

As a collector, this makes me a bit sad. You're the fourth or fifth person I've come across who says MP Tracks is a rickety piece of shit, as far as engineering goes. I might be done with Hasbro and Takara, altogether, as I have no love for any of the other upcoming MPs, and forget about Hasbro's mass market lines. Ugh. It's gonna be all about 3P and filling out older figures in my collection, from here on out.

This is the weakest masterpiece. This backpack was bad. Those wing maybe should have been parts forming. That hinge connecting the back and the body needed more engineering. This thing looks like its 75% done then it was rushed. Im glad i got the KO. July is coming and i can see an M80 attached to his back. Or ill just keep it in vehicle mode till Fanstoys or Mastermind takes a crack.
