This time, we will take a riverside walk along the Takase River, which flows on the west side of the Kamo River in Kyoto City.
The Takase River is a 4.5 km long river that takes water from the Misosogi River, which flows through the Kamo River high water bed, downstream of the Nijo Ohashi Bridge, and joins the Kamo River upstream of Jujo Street. The Takasegawa River, a populated canal excavated in the Edo period, supported the transportation of goods between Kyoto and Osaka until its role was completed in the Taisho period (1912-1926).
This time, we will start our walk from Jujo Station, and from the outlet of the Takase River, we will follow the riverside path upstream. Much of the street became Kiyamachi-dori, with a view of the tattered streets of Kyoto.
