For me Yakuza Kiwami 2 is the best in the series because it updates the original Yakuza 2 with modern features. It has a strong, emotional story centered around the rivalry between Kazuma Kiryu and Ryuji Goda, smoother combat, and better graphics in that time. The Majima Saga side mode also adds extra depth, making it one of the most memorable Yakuza games overall.

Most of these games are lame and gay. They should play real games like GTA, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Witcher, Stalker, Assassin's Creed, Mafia, grand strategy games like Total War or Paradox games, Dragon Age. When we translated Ultima Online to Japanese, the players in the game jumped quite a lot. At peak, I think we had 75,000 Japanese players. One player, I forget his name, would give me presents in the game. He didn't speak English. I eventually tracked him home in developer invisible mode and decorated the outside of his house with a garden. He loved it. I helped the management team in Tokyo quite a bit with their requests. They sent me a complete set of Japanese trading cards. I think I'm the only person in the US to have an entire set.

One of my favorite mobile games was Puzzle and Dragons. I was one of the few Americans playing it when it first came here. A few years after that I went to Japan for the first time and it was AMAZING to see EVERYONE and I mean E V E R Y O N E playing PaD on the subway. It was such a phenomenon at its peak. Monster Strike is also an interesting story. I played it when it first came here, but I think the match making failed in the US because we have far less population density than cities in Japan. As a foreign resident in Japan, the games mentioned aren't surprising. I see some of those smartphone games being played on the commuter trains. Also not surprised many don't play or mention games like Souls/Sekiro or Elden Ring or FF, even though they are Japanese games as well. Could be a generational thing too as most of the interviewees are very young. Those games seem to be developed for western audiences rather than the local country. Nintendo, arcade centers, and smartphone gaming are the main staples of Japan in gaming. As a gamer with completely different preferences, I guess I'm an anomaly here haha
