Don’t worry too much about pronunciation. Some people care, but most people appreciate your best efforts. Professionally it can be very hard for people living in a country that doesn’t largely speak their native language. I was a student in Italy for a while, and I remember feeling shy and embarrassed about my Italian. She seems like a fun person to be around. Even as a super introverted barely social person for whatever reason i tend to find that my most meaningful friendships are with people like this. My best friend is the total opposite of me personality wise but we get along extremely well and he’s able to consistently bring me out of my shell and step out of my comfort zone. The best part is I’ve never felt pressured to do anything I didn’t want to. Like I’m very reclusive but if he invites me to go anywhere I’m there in a heartbeat.

Introversion is not being shy, it’s getting drained from social interactions

I love extroverts who plan things and are consistent. I'm the same way: I'm always there. The best basis for a friendship is just showing up. Also helps if they're just a cool person, though.

There is no such thing as introvert or extrovert, they're abstractions that psychologist use to simplify and generalise behavioral tendencies. What there is however is the energy expended in interactions, which can be measured objectively from body movement to the amount of muscles involved (speech for example requires the organised synchronisation of a lot of muscles such as the tongue, lips, jaw, vocal cords, diaphragm, etc.) It is carl jung and his pseudoscientific approach to the field who popularized the terms introvert, extrovert and is to blame for the muddying of reality with thoughts a guy came up without any objective basis.)

She probably has an easier time with the language b/c Italian is really similar. Both languages are very sing-songy with lots of syllable and consonant length variation, and some Italian regional dialects like Calabrian are even more similar.
@ffelegal Жыл бұрын
No way lol. The grammar is completely different. There are barely any cognats. It's so difficult to learn japanese. Maybe the phonetics is okay but that's the simplest part of Japanese 😅
@lozoft9 Жыл бұрын
@@ffelegal “phonetics is the easiest part” as an English speaker I disagree. The prosody of the language, especially the whispered vowels and gemination, makes understanding everyday spoken Japanese that much more difficult. People who know similar languages where vowel and consonant length is variable and lexical will have an advantage in that regard. It also doesn’t hurt that Italian verbs are highly inflected like Japanese ones vs English and Chinese which are on the complete opposite end of the spectrum.
