I'm a guitarist and seriously this guy is probably the most technically proficient guitarist on the planet, his picking technique is so relaxed and efficient not to mention his hand synchronisation is flawless, he beats all the other shredders such as Petrucci, Becker, Buckethead etc, and he's basically the Japanese Malmsteen but better.

technical wise Gilbert is still better and Malmsteen is worse than any of those guys you mentioned so saying he's the japanese yngwie is kinda a blow

@@dathomirrules9689 yngwie is not more technical lol. He uses mixture of legato and economy in his 3nps runs with alternate meshed in. Gilbert strictly uses alternate picking for his 3nps, plays more cleanly while mixing in accents from his clever use of pick edging. His string skips are also probably the best in the game. Petrucci does everything Gilbert does just slightly less clean and tell me when Yngwie can do 5 finger tapping and 6 string sweeps at high tempos like Buckethead. Yngwie was legendary for his time but nowadays he’s nothing. Becker is prob the only one comparable to Yngwie in terms of technique similarities (economy, legato) but his sweeps are way more cleaner and dude sweeps in the bridge pickup
Most amazing player alive. And his stage presence is so fucking cool.

According to a new study, men play extreme metal to impress other men: The survey results “indicated that time spent playing chords predicted desire for casual sex with women, whereas perceptions of playing speed positively predicted intrasexual competitiveness,” or a desire to impress other men.
