I had this exact same problem with my TSi3 9deg driver, spinning around 3500 on average. Great for finding fairways, lousy into the wind. Got fitted for a TSi4 9deg, increased my angle of attack from 1up to 3up, teed the ball up higher and started consistently hitting above the centre of the face. Average spin dropped to 2300, still finding the fairway and hitting it further. Head winds are no longer an issue.

The timing of this video is pretty ironic... just last Sunday I got tired of my driver ballooning up and decided to take 1.5 degrees off of it just to see what happened... much to my surprise, I instantly gained easily 15 to 20 yards. I figured I might gain a few yards but was happily surprised at just how much of a difference it made.

Very nice lads. I had a very similar experience when I was fitted this year to the Sim 2. I was averaging 308 carry and angle of attack between 1 and 2 up. I was fitted into the 9* head, standard setting, with a Mitsubishi TB 70x. I was averaging around 2,500 spin. I turned it to the upright setting and then down to 8.25* with a prov 1 left dash. Super stable flight and absolutely bomb it.

This was me. Got a good fitter who understood the causes and suggested dropping to a lower loft but kept me in head kept my ball straight. Also said to play left dash. Longer tee shots on both good and bad strikes and gave me some tips on my delivery based on numbers. Driving is back to being a strength in my game and I’m having more fun

Ok, as a high spin player, some takeaways: -lower spin club head (SIM2 for Matty here) -shaft flex combo that suits your timing -lower loft = lower ball flight but you have to have the swing speed and delivery to pop the ball quicker and farther So from my current setup: Callaway Edge regular flex 10.5 degrees with high 90s low 100s swing speed, I need to try out a 9 degree driver. Shaft is the one variable to play around more extensively. Thank you TXG!

Looks like you said, rotating through better and staying more on top of it compared to your old follow through of staying back and hitting way up on the ball.

With my newly bought Alpha 816 DBD 9 deg with Aldila Rogue 110 MSI 60-3.8-S RIP IO. I do love the head. It's a compact 460 CC head with a deep face. Looks good behind the ball. Avg numbers with driver in standard settings. Club Speed = 111.7 mph. Ball Speed: 163.9 mph. Smash Factor: 1.47. Attack Angle: 5.6. Launch Angle: 9.4 deg. Dynamic Loft: 12.5 deg. Spin rate: 2613 rpm. Height: 25.8 meters. Land Angle: 34.7 deg. Carry: 246.9m. Total: 269.9m. Spin rate is up with 600 rpm. I'm used to spin rates at 1800-2100 rpm. I think it's because of the deeper face. I don't hit the ball as high in the face anymore. Height is down with 5-6 meters. Guess its the little to stout shaft. Don't feel the load as much. All my shots ended up on left side. club face closed to fast. Start aiming litte more right and started to hook the ball instead. With this information. Any shaft that you would remommend? Have booked a retro fit end of month to test other shafts. I have played the UST Proforce V2 (Yellow/White/Red) in the M5 head. I liked the feel of the shaft. it was wippy but stable at impact.

Apologies in advance if this is repeating what you've already tried - have you looked to flip the orientation of the gravity core (assuming it's set low) to reduce spin / provide some fade bias to help neutralise the flight? Perhaps setting the hosel to a flatter lie might help also if you're really having issues with the hook? It may not 100% fix your issues, although it might help between now and your fitting. Hopefully the retro fit goes well and you get what you want out of it! :) Cheers

Shaft definitely. I currently average around 1700 spin (not ideal for most but it's the current driver config I have) with around low 100s CHS and 150s ball speed. Fujikura Motore X F3 is my shaft and it really tunes down the spin. I was actually back at my fitter's place using one of their trackmans and some girl came in with 2600 spin or so, the fitter gave her the Fujikura and her spin went down to around 2k instantly.

I always thought it was interesting that in past driver bracket testing, specifically things like the TS3, that Matt just couldn't get the ball up in the air, even with a pretty positive AoA. It made for a good test aimed at people who deliver less dynamic loft and obviously inflated his distance numbers a little bit. Curious to see how if this sticks and whether or not his irons will be higher spin too.

If you guys have done this before I must have missed it. I have always had trouble missing to the right mainly because of an open club face. I got fitted for a new driver last spring. I swing about 105mph, up on the ball. I thought about the Sim Max D type to help me get more square at impact, problem was it spun way too much for me. The Sim Max didn’t get me as much ball speed as the Sim to outweigh the forgiveness. Ended up with the Sim 9° with Aldila Rogue silver 60 stuff. I have it at 9° with the upright setting. I still miss to the right, but if I loft it up to close the face a little it spins to high. Can you give me your thoughts on the differences in a 9° head at neutral vs an 8° lofted up (face closed) vs. a 10.5° lofted down (face open)? Will the launch and spin be relatively the same if they’re all set around 9°? I’d love to see a bunch of shots with the same shaft with the 3 different heads set around the same loft. Thanks men.

@dabdias 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrEasyaloha That doesn’t work from experience with shorter shafts - I have tried a 44” shaft and even a 43.5” one from my TM300 (I also have one). I would like to hear TXG on this, because I think that with smaller heads, anyone who tends to hit closer to the heel, will be hitting closer to the center of the clubface when using a smaller club head (if you hit about the same distance from the shaft, the smaller the head is the closer to the center the strike will be). I recently learned (based on what I saw on Trackman and on an old blog post from a golf instruction company) that the SIM has the CG closer to the heel (slightly below center line and about 1/3 of the distance between center and edge of toe), and I have been lining my driver with the ball towards the toe. This has helped a lot, but I don’t like that and I would like to hear from TXG if there are other options. BTW - Do you really think you can adjust your stance by ½ inch? If you do, that is quite impressive. I am pretty sure I can’t, too much precision for me!

Would you guys please help to answer a question I have never been able to find an answer to? My question is, in a PROPERLY FITTED shaft, should the golfer be able to feel the shaft flex? I swing a stiff flex but never actually feel any shaft flex. I have a pause at the top of my back swing. I think the lack of a fluid transition puts a lot less stress on the shaft in my swing as compared to other people. When I go down to a regular shaft I can feel the shaft flex sometimes. It feels a little funny but only because I am not used to it. It doesn’t feel bad. In a nutshell I am wondering if I am losing distance because I am not loading the shaft. I also realize that most golfers will get used to their shaft and probably won’t FEEL the flex after a while but my question is sort of general. Thank you for any help!

It's a very interesting question and one where a golfer's individual perception plays a very big part in the overall feel - since we all feel and interpret differently. We all load the shaft one way or the other, whether it be overload, underload, or "just right" ala Goldilocks and the three bears and that is the sweet spot you want to find for each golfers load profile. The feel that is best associated with this is where the shaft works with you, and you and is able to create great results with your natural rhythm and speed ( swing your swing as they say). As a VERY general example - For smoother players, a shaft with a softer butt section will feel like it loads easier and a different player at the same speed but much more aggressive transition at the top of the swing the same shaft could feel loose. To whether you are personally losing distance or not - the only real way to find out is through a fitting to know your launch conditions and if an equipment change could alter them. Hope this helps - Ryan

As I understand it, Low spin also means less forgiveness. I noticed my Callaway max ls fitted with a autoflex gives me good distance when I hit it perfect. However, on ,y bad drive I lose as much as 50 yards. How do you balance between Low spin and forgiveness or is there a driver head that would have a good combi of both?

So I'm a low speed / high spin player, 85mph driver and 4200 spin. I have a speedzone with the weight forward and a fitted shaft, even good strikes leave me 40 yards behind my playing partners. I'm using a r flex matrix shaft. How do I reduce my spin from there

Question, the last comparison numbers you put up with Matt's Titleist and the TM, wasn't the wind turned on for Matt's driver and turned off for the TM?

Matty/Ian, I have a X flex 70G weight hzrdus black rdx in the tsi4, I like how it performs for the most part, but I’d like to get a lighter shaft that performs similarly, what’s something you guys carry that’s lighter? Chasing 120mph club speed 🤣

What about the radspeed? Does it not compete with the sim2 for 460 heads in the low spin category?

Hi any chance you can test jumbo grips to see if they improve club head speed and distance. Andy "the average golfer" on youtube has just been amazed with his results and I wondered if you had any thoughts. Bryson obviously swears by them

This is strange because when I got fitted the SIM2 gave me too much spin and the TSI3 gave me less spin!

What number BirTee do you use with the driver? I use them during the winter for indoor SIM golf and was just curious how high you tee it up

Looking at the results I would have thought the sweet spot on newer drivers is higher up on the club face. And, hitting the sweet spot consistently helps in keeping spin consistent and lower? Seems the strikes are lower on the face and even the launch monitor sweet spot placement is lower then I would have expected? Thoughts?

So, the question is, does this mean he is going to get a new driver now? Most of us don't have unlimited time/money to change around $700 drivers depending on how the wind is or how our neck is feeling (I have the same issues as Matt). I have a new tsi3 and I'm not going to buy a new SIM2 this winter, so if you really want to help us, you should teach us how to adjust things to make the best out of what we have.

What would you say to someone who consistently has too LOW of spin off the tee? I generally hit it pretty solid, with a decent draw. (would go straighter with more backspin) I went and hit like 15 drives today on a simulator, and here are my averages: 9 degree Sim Max Launch - 13.1 Push - 3.7 degrees BackSpin - 874! Side Spin - 560 I'm not an expert, but I feel like my spin loft is next to 0. So are my options to swing less up on it, and to up the loft to 11 or so? This has plagued me my whole life it seems, and I can't figure out how to fix it. It is driving me nuts.

Ian, listening to some of the tour pros, they want 2200-2500 this is a lot lower. Even when callaway introduced the epic line this time, it wasn’t as low spin. So why would i want to be at 2000?

Hey guys.. tested the tsi4 and 3..hzrdus smoke yellow. Spin numbers were higher with tsi4 for some reason. Total distance was about the same but carried more with tsi4, but like the little more forgiveness of the 3. Played with my buddies 3 with the raw white shaft but seems to spin a little to much. Suggestions?

Does faders (not slicers) produce more spin than drawers with driver?
@dabdias
@dabdias 2 жыл бұрын
If properly fit, no. Also, if shot shape is only driven by gap between club path and club face, then you probably just need to find a loft-CG combination that keep differential between dynamic loft and angle of attack narrow enough (to get low spin). If you watch Ryan’s recent driver fitting video you can see that he hits a fade but with low spin.

How much does ball position effect spin? I find that if I tee it off my big toe, rather than my instep, my launch angle is much better, I hit it with less spin and I square the face better.

Got fitted into a Sim 2 Max set at 7 degrees on Hzrdus' "Hulk" back in February. worked on my speed pretty hard during lock downs and gained a little over 6 mph club head speed, unfortunately my spin and ball flight has went to the moon......I'm averaging between 3,500-4,000 rpm with peak heights hitting over 200 ft. where I was fitted they had said "the Hulk" was the lowest spinning option they carried (and was during the fit) is there anything that y'all could recommend that would kill some spin???

I made some swing changes this year that really kinda demolished my ability to strike the ball, but I'm kinda wondering if some of it is equipment. I became a flipper cause I weakened my grip, but I also went to Winn DriTac 2.0 grips oversize, which are much much lighter than a normal grip. I play the mizuno JPX 919 forged irons with the Dynamic Gold 105 Stiff shafts. Before the swing change I hit my 7i 205, since the change it goes 175 when I'm striking it well, but as low as 145 when I'm flipping and swinging really poorly. I've actually gained club head speed overall and still don't get nearly as much out of it as I used to. Can grip weight throw off the feel of the club so much that it leads to that kind of loss of distance?
