Gorat's Steakhouse is known to be a favorite restaurant of Warren Buffett. We visited the Omaha, Nebraska restaurant to try Buffett's usual meal and take a look at his private dining area.

Truthfears Guilty shut up idiot. Nice empty argument. Single payer healthcare is waaay cheaper on society than the criminal system in America that enriches only the insurance elites. Are you one of them or one of the brain dead sheep? 40 thousand Americans die every year from preventable disease. Number 1 cause of bankruptcy in America is healthcare. Healthcare remains the top issue for Americans. If America had a true democracy we would have a more humane healthcare system. But for you anything that helps the people is bad, but corporate subsidies are good? Are you part of the 80% of Americans living paycheck to paycheck? Or some insurance lobbyists. Maybe just a lost sheep. Don’t respond just leave smh

@blue copper I'm starting to understand why. When you invest money and start getting cash flow, you start to think everything else you purchase as an opportunity cost. Go to a restaurant every weekend? You could have saved that money and put it into something that will pay you dividends every quarter. Buy a Lambo? That car is bleeding value every mile you drive in it, whereas putting that money into bond coupons will generate cash flow for you.

I live in Omaha, I actually lived a block away from Gorats Steakhouse. What people are forgetting is Warren enjoys a Traditional place he attended over the years that brings comfort and happiness as well as great steaks. They have a kitchen in the lower level where they butcher there own meat, that is so sanitized and clean, ya wouldn’t believe it. Also Omaha has the best tasting steaks than other states. In my opinion the grass fed or rice fed cows ,that to me is just horrible tasting. So Berkshire Hathaway has been a tradition every year at Gorats! I understand Warren Buffets choice.

They never reviewed the food. A friend of mine and I ate there 2 years ago. Worst steak experience of my life. The meat was chewy and poorly grilled. The mashed potatoes were cold. The gravy for the potatoes was so cool it never leveled out in the bowl and the glazed carrots looked and tasted like their mound shape was maintained with enough cornstarch to hang a picture on the wall. By far a "never eat there" recommendation. As well, let it be know, Warren Buffet is a brilliant, brilliant investor whose life story I love reading about but he's no food connoisseur.

I ate at Gorat's back in 2010. The steak I had was a good piece of meat, nicely seasoned, and cooked properly. On the other hand, the side dishes were lackluster. The green beans tasted like they were canned, rather than fresh. Now, I believe that Gorat's changed hands about 5 years ago, and the menu got overhauled. So, I suspect that things have improved. Now, as to why Warren eats like a 6-year old. He studied actuarial tables and learned that 6-year olds have the longest life expectancy. So, he eats like one.

Gorat's is good, but I like Anthony's better!! They're the two remaining restaurants of the great, old time Italian steakhouses that Omaha used to have! There were literally dozens of them. All because of the Omaha Stockyards, the largest of its kind the world ever saw. Gorat's is probably still in business only because of Warren's patronage. (Many people suspect he owns a piece of it too.) Likewise the Omaha World-Herald, because of Warren's nostalgic streak... He likes thumbing through a paper newspaper.
