Putting aside Elisha Cuthbert's breathtaking beauty (though I remember watching this film as a teenage kid just for her), I love how this movie attempted to dispel our society's prejudices towards adult actresses who are often demonized for their choosing the route of adult films, despite the fact that they almost exclusively do so for monetary reasons. I appreciate the film using her character and the lead male character to quell our biases in this infamous romance piece.

This movie is my story, I’m the Emile Hirsch character. I was once taken by a woman who literally lived next door, every guy I knew wanted to be with her. She had a past that was haunting her and she struggled with that. She moved in next door with her grandparents to get away. She came over after seeing me outside one day and introduced herself, got my parents hooked on her. She came over all the time and slept over at the house, watching scary movies, playing video games, getting to know my family life and past life as a child. She knew pretty much everything. She made a move on me one night while staying over and snuck into my room and we kissed. But that was as far as it would go. At the time I wasn’t sure what I wanted out of life. From a woman. In fact sex was a scary subject for me. I wanted the right woman, and so I pushed her away. We remained friends for a while but she eventually moved away to Arizona, got married and had kids. It took me until about my 30’s to have a wife and I’m just now having my first child and I’m 36 years old. Most of this story I’m sure there are men like me out there who have a similar story, or even better. This movie always reminds me of those 2 years. Some of the best times. I wish I had just ‘gone with it’ as Danielle always says in this movie. Let go and live a little bit in the moment. I sometimes wonder how life would have ended up had I just let things be as they were. But in a way, I’m glad because she had a happy ending that she deserved. Anyway just wanted to share that story. Don’t be like me boys, get out there and show a woman what you’re made of. We need good guys out there

I have been reading comments about different scenes from this film, and it amazes me how people, especially men, were touched by the scenes and particularly by the character Danielle. It is important to make this distinction because surely the feeling that everyone feels does not transfer to the actress Elisha Cuthbert, but rather to her character Danielle. This undoubtedly highlights the quality of Elisha as an actress. She was able to give beauty and sensuality that she does not express on a daily basis to her character. Danielle touched the hearts of so many men, young and not so young, as she materialized or relived feelings and dreams that everyone would like to have experienced or have experienced in their lives. In this aspect, the film fulfilled its role.
