Nicholas Elias I came up in the 70s so I had my share of sporty vehicles with manual transmissions (4 speed was common) and very beefy motors. Shifting isn't that hard. It's more of a technique. If you listen to him drive he's not smooth in the transition of gears. Sounds like he may be pushing the clutch in too far. There's no need to to push the clutch to the floor...You just need it far enough to make the shift. When you do it like that there is less time for the pressure plate to reingauge the flywheel making the gear change quicker and smoother. Plus you need to "Jam" the shifter instead of babying it. What I commented about the shifting was only advice. It wasn't meant to be taken as criticism.

@frankjohnson6342 Жыл бұрын
I don’t know what version this car is but I would be surprised if it made it into the 13’s. He was shifting at maybe 5000 rpms max and then combine the painfully bad shifting that he thinks using the clutch is not necessary has turned what I thought was going to be a trip down memory lane into anything but. That car couldn’t smoke the tires through four gears under any circumstances. My not stock 340 4 speed Duster with 3.91 gears would tear that Camaro a new one. This motor was out of breath between 5000-5500 rpm and ran like a rebuild where the owner got to pick all the engine parts from JC Whitney and then Summit and believed all the manufacturer claims for each part even when they clearly were going to be working against each other. It reminded me of a guy that had a beautiful original 1970 454 Chevelle that he put this big 671 blower on then added this high lift mean sounding cam into as well as some L50-15 tires on Crager S/S rims that were popular for that time period . He drove around like he had the baddest car on the planet with a big block 454 and a big chrome blower sticking up out of the hood. Then one Saturday he shows up with his car on a trailer at New England Dragway to show everybody how fast his car was. 14.3 was his first and only run before he loaded it back up and left the track, it was NEVER seen with the blower on it again. He had plenty of $$ to build something but didn’t consult anyone with the knowledge to do it right. Judging from the size of the houses in this guy’s neighborhood, he needs to take that car to some place that builds good street strip motors and do this car some justice. In the meantime he can learn about how to drive a stick that includes using the clutch to change gears, those type of use no clutch to shift transmissions are for drag racing on the strip as they will not last on the street but a very short time. Then repost a new video of what the car can do with someone who can drive a stick and not be scared to use it. Also try a GOPRO instead of the VHS recorder that you used this time.

Hopefully in the 10 years since you’ve posted this video you’ve finally learned how to drive the damn thing.

Yes, we have automobiles in my town too. We often use them to run errands, or get to work. Small world.

Any updates on the car? Keep up the work on improving shifting and you'll be one with the car one day. Might already be after a decade

Look to everyone that is negative on this video... My apologizes that it did not meet your video watching criteria...I believe it says in Desc - First Ride... The linkages for the shifter were not adjusted and dialed in and The first time I drove this car for more than around the block to make sure brakes worked... I'm not a great driver... where in the description did I claim to be a race car driver? Please build a Car that compares and post a video so all the Jealous haters can attack you! The Car is a beast! Unfortunately I have sold the car and moved on to another project.

It's OK Dude, but just don't let it cost like you do, No!! That's just not right, OK? Other than that, careful where you point it and be sure not to ram into someones rear end. You gotta make sure you have lots of time to break. You took a couple chances there and if a car pulls out you're done. you're not gonna be able to stop. Rule of thumb, in the city, stick to burn outs if anything. Go out of the city where there's way less traffic and let 'er loose there. Awesome ride you have, don't F%*& it up.

I can see why you sold it. 1st of all you cant drive a stick and 2nd you are clearly afraid of it....

The best thing about this remember when this car came out and all Detroit musclecars if I'm not mistaken came stuck with bias ply tires try driving a car like this on bias ply tires not only is the steering crappy you can light tires up anywhere on the road and never drive it wet

Probably a nice Yenko near clone, but not a real Yenko, those didn't have floor consoles. Yenko didn't make any red 69 Camaros either.

The most frustrating part of any test drive video are the number of self-proclaimed experts in the comments talking about how the driver of the car isn't driving it right. Especially when the driver isn't really doing anything wrong.

It sounds good, 1st gen camaro always be one of my favorite cars. Don’t think this one is super fast, just decent exhaust, moderate cam? But sounds good man. Enjoy it for what it is and be safe.

Sounds better than a Mustang in my opinion. Cool car cool vid. Practice makes perfect when it comes to driving those stoplight drag beasts. Most people are used to rice and paddle shifting nowadays so good for you for even knowing how to drive with a true manual transmission. ✌️☺️

Ugh it's painful to watch when someone does a rip and pushes in the clutch as they slow down .....ain't got shit for control at that point. Besides , 80-90% of engine wear happens at a cold start , so just leave the clutch out omg it's so cringy.

I own a 600 HP Plus built up 67 Shelby and with that much power this guy drives fine, shifts are OK he is not pushing all the way, you need to realize how much tork He has, I suggest getting an overdrive, easy to install and will change the car from stop light terror into a all around package, highway driving with OD will be incredible, I love mine

I highly doubt you know what it's like to shift an 80lb clutch spring..
@twistedtaipan38627 жыл бұрын
I guess they do if you're a moron and have way too much engine to tire ratio. It seems like most 4 speeds are pretty easy to drive if you have a basic 350 setup. Having 700 horsepower is cool but rather useless if the clutch is too stiff to shift easily and the tires can't hook for shit. Another founding member of the more money than brains club...
