Welcome to Casita Land. You will enjoy the ease of towing and living in the Casita. We have a 2019 Independence DLX, and love it. Get in sites easier and place you would never see with a larger trailer. Hope to met you on the road. We are head down to Big Bend in February. Tom C Plano, Tx

Thank you. Excited to be here in Casita Land. Cool that you also have a 2019. Independence is a good floorplan too. Nice that beds can be separate, so no crawling over each other, and also better fit for taller folks. We haven't formalized our winter plans yet. Would be fun to meet up with other Casita owners like you sometime. Maybe we will even go to a rally when the pandemic gets under control. -M

We love our 2006 Spirit Deluxe Casita, this is the 11th season for camping coming up now this next summer with it. Fits in lots of camping spaces in Calif, campgrounds are known for small spaces, same for camping in sierras, spaces in campgrounds are limited in size generally. You will enjoy the Casita it opens up a lot of possibilities. Plus it tows very well since narrow and rounded corners way less wind resistance than standard type trailers. Only real neg is crawl over to get in and out of bed, which isn't that bad.

We used gallon jugs to fill our casitas fresh water tank. We used a felt tip marker to mark 5 gallon, 10 gallon and 20 gallon points. Comes in very handy. We didn’t get the microwave...there’s a ton of storage if you don’t have a microwave. We also carried a Clam which greatly expanded our living space!
@Rvlove4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great suggestion on how you marked your tank for more accuracy. The shape of tanks can sometimes deceive the reality. I remember our Tiffin water tank was thinner at the top and bottom. So, the first 10 gallons went fast, but middle of the tank was much more predictable. Yes, not ordering (or removing) the microwave would open up a huge amount of storage.. We know white a few others with small RVs (towable or motorized) that also swear by their clams for extra living space. Thanks again for sharing. -M

Me and my girlfriend are interested in a Casita ... We want to buy something good that's small, we wanted one brand new and I'm assuming there is a waittime for it and was wondering how long you would think we'd have to wait for? Also, we are interested in the Freedom model, since it has a full bed area and the swivel chairs are functional for our needs to eat, be on laptop, etc .... For the bed section, I was wondering if I would be able to extend my feet if I am 5'11? Sorry if you mentioned your height in the video, I watched it without sound ... Thanks!

Love the addition of the Casita! As empty nesters, we “discovered” RViing and camping in 2015. We bought a new to us 2005 Casita 17 Freedom Deluxe with some really cool modifications in November, 2015. We bought a used mid-size SUV in December, 2015 to tow the Casita. We started camping in March, 2016. Since then, we have camped 240 nights in it. We love it! We also attend 4 to 6 molded fiberglass rallies each year. I just retired and plan to use our Casita even more. We will keep the Casita for the next few years before thinking about another RV. We might keep the Casita even longer and add a small motorhome. Love your channel. Hope to see you at an egg rally soon!!!

We have heard from so many that the molded fiberglass egg rallies are super fun, and we look forward to going to one some day. @@richarde1355 we hope you love your Freedom Deluxe as much as we do! We are now up to 334 nights of camping in it since 2016. The previous owner was much more skilled and talented than me and did all the modifications. I will try to cut and paste those here. . .- Orbital Machine Works -- Casita Hitch Receiver. - Orbital Machine Works -- Casita Shock Kit.. - Orbital Machine Works 3inch bolt on lift kit, in addition to the factory hi-lift. - Little House Customs -- 24" Double step kit. - Built in Progressive 30amp Surge protector. - 30amp transfer switch if one chose's to use a Honda EU200I. - Built in Hughes 30amp Autoformer. - Two 30amp 120v switches which permit one to disengage post power from - Upgrade Progressive 3-stage power converter. - Custom bathroom door - Custom closet - Four wicker bins for clothing, top shelf for towels, sweater etc. an behind the top two wicker baskets there's storage for extra paper towels, etc. - Custom table (between FD chairs) - has built in cup/bottle holders, magazine rack. -Table is permanently attached inside, to the side camper wall. - Custom overhead light 120v-led and led 12v about the table. - Custom “china” cabinet. Top cabinet above stove has been modified for dishes/cups. - No furnace - but bottom cabinet door below sink is split two door with bottom modified for a Pelonis cube heater. This MOD keeps the heater and cord directly off of the floor, which eliminates trip hazards. With no propane heater there are two custom wooden bins: top one is full length and second bin is short since it butts up against the inside wheel well. - Custom work in the microwave area: Upper cabinet shelf above microwave has been lowered three to four inches, plus a larger cabinet door which permits one to carry items such as a small crock pot, toaster, waffle iron, small single use blender. - Custom built in Kleenex tissue holder. 8.2x8.4 in box size -- with two spare boxes tucked under and behind the stove/sink cabinet.

For the price of a tank of fuel on that RV, you can buy the Cassita. My original plan was to buy an F-150 last year. It's been awhile since I watched any of your videos and commented. But that's due to us downsizing and selling both our homes. One in the Smoky Mountains and one in Southern Indiana. We are going Full-time RVing next month after December 14th. Can't wait be are both so excited. It's a life long dream. We discovered that our next RV was going to be to much for our current truck. So we went truck shopping today. And we have our RV picked out. We are downsizing our RV. We currently have a 40ft Class A Gulfstream Sun Voyager. To a 32ft Grand Design Reflection Fifth Wheel. Oh mercy you don't realize how much stuff you have till you downsize everything to fit into a 33ft Fifth Wheel. Lol. We are installing our own Solar System. And doing that while we Boondock in Quartzsite, Arizona for the Winter. We don't want to waste our money on Campgrounds. We are strictly going to be Boondocking. Maybe once in a while we will stay at a Campground. I love your little tiny RV as a secondary option to travel around in. We have made our first step to getting things lined out for full-time RVing. We signed up with TSD Logistics Fuel Card program. After watching your video on it and many others. We saw it was the best option for us. Safe travels to you both. Maybe one day we will meet out on the road.

I'm glad you like it. The one drawback for me is the single axle. I've owned a single axle and they tend to "wage their tail" more than a dual axle. Our last Jayco pop-up on a 17 ft. box had duel wheels. Much better than the single one we had. I believe with the high lift option, it gets electric brakes. I know in most states trailers under 3000 lbs. don't require them.
@Rvlove4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. We find that it tows really well, especially with the friction anti sway hitch. I believe it is also important to make sure we keep the weight toward the front. If rear bias, it increases sway from what I understand. Yes, ours with the high lift option also includes electric brakes. -M

Just make sure your Jeep is properly equipped, with a tow rating of at least 4,000 pounds. The 17 Casita only weighs 2500, with a max weight of 3500. BUT... the tongue weight can quickly be over 400 lbs which means you would need a vehicle rated for at least 4000. -M

Can you use the air conditioner on battery power and if so how long
@Rvlove3 жыл бұрын
We definitely cannot use the air conditioner on battery power in this camper. The standard battery only has 44 usable amp hours. Not much at all, but ok for LED lights and sensors for propane fridge. BUT... our previous motorhome had 600 amp hours of Battle Born Lithium, so we could run the air conditioner for a couple hours on that. Though... we hardly ever did. We rarely stay places unplugged that would need ac. Hard for batteries and solar to keep up with ac. You need a pretty extreme set up for that. IF we camp with this little camper where we need ac, we will either plug in to shore power or bring a small generator. This Casita camper ac can run on a small Honda 2200. -M

Mark and Julie we miss seeing your videos on KZbin. I hope you are staying busy and being well. I have a question about your Country Coach. My husband and I are looking to buy a 1997 - 1999 Foretravel Coach. I'm almost afraid to buy one this age, but I'm hoping that most of the bugs have been repaired. Buying a new coach is not for me because of the lose of money when you drive it off the lot, plus the quality workmanship is missing. I know you remodeled your coach and it's so pretty. We will not be full time. We will keep our home and just use it on vacations. What do you really think about buying a older coach? Thanks! And Blessings!
@Rvlove3 жыл бұрын
Hello. Yes, sorry we have been absent from KZbin for so long. We have still been producing quite a bit on our rvlove.com website and blog. Also been very busy working on our next book, and our next Hit The Road RV Summit event. Check it out! hittheroadrvsummit.com/ Our Country Coach was definitely beautiful once we finished remodeling it. Initial bugs were worked out, but at 20 years old, even though it was a quality coach, there were still things that needed repairing for sure just because they start aging out. One of the big advantages of a coach like that is that there is really good support from owners groups. also keep in mind that our coach was used much more than most RVs, (over 200K miles) and the previous owners did not take as much care of it. Which is why we could buy it for only $25K .If you find a well cared for unit you will likely have less issues but more expensive. If you haven't already... be sure to check out our blog post about the cost of RV ownership over the last 6 years. It should be super valuable to you. rvlove.com/rv6yearexpense Thank you, Marc

I am considering one of these. I have two questions because you have the model I like: 1. Are those chairs comfortable for long term sitting? 2. The wall texture looks rough. Is it hard on skin or is it all rounded and fine? A nice video.
@Rvlove Жыл бұрын
It is a great little camper. We found the chairs to be quite comfortable for multiple hours. The walls are covered in carpet, so it is not hard on your skin at all. -M

Nice informative video. I luv those slider type windows and plenty of them which helps in not feeling too closed in. Curious if there are storage cabinets underneath the bed?
@Rvlove3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. glad you liked it. Yes, the windows are fantastic for such a small RV. There is a large space in the center under the bed, but not really any available storage cabinets. One side is mostly taken up with the fresh water tank (especially since we have the larger 25 gallon one), and the other side is the battery, water heater and some other electronics. If ordered without the water heater, or with the smaller water tank there would be more storage space available. -M

We have a casita Spirit deluxe and our bed is just like that one. there is a large space under the bed. I have a big plastic storage bin which slides way back and there's still plenty of room under there. I use it like a big drawer.
@joniboulware14362 жыл бұрын
I like the basic simplicity. However, I don't think that fresh water tank even upgraded is big enough. Hopefully it is easy to fill and some 5 gallon spare tanks can be carried. Solar might require some creative work to incorporate due to roof shape.
@Rvlove2 жыл бұрын
Yes, solar is a little tricky with shape, but new flexible panels would work well. Easy to carry some extra 5 gallon spare water tanks if needed. -M

why tow this behind the big class A motor home? how do you use this when you have that huge motor home? loved the videos
@Rvlove3 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the videos. On long hauls it makes more sense to pull it behind the coach because the coach hardly notices it. That way Julie can have total flexibility with the Jeep, and no impact to fuel mileage. When shorter trips, we pull it with the Jeep for better maneuverability. Fun to mix up our travels by going to places we could never consider in the big coach. Update for you in case you haven't seen it in our email newsletters, blog or other places we have mentioned, but we eventually sold the big coach, and only RV in the Casita now. We have a home base and RV part time now. -M
@wincrasher20073 жыл бұрын
where you going to store it? I've seen a few with pushers towing a small pickup with a slide-in bed camper. that might be the ultimate off-road boondocking rig you can take with you.
@Rvlove3 жыл бұрын
That truck with truck camper behind a pusher would be a really cool set up. Too heavy for our coach though. We initially travelled with both, storing one or the other. But as shared on our blog this winter, we hunkered down in a home base and only traveled in the RV part time lately. -M

How did you find the used Casita for sale? I think you said you traveled for it. It seemed like a real deal!

We just regularly check platforms like RV Trader, and yes, being willing to travel 1,000+ miles each way is very important. We have bought our last two cars, and two of our three RVs more than 500 miles away from home where we were when shopping. -M

Love it, great review! Any idea what the tongue weight is when fully loaded?
@Rvlove3 жыл бұрын
Tongue weight is around 300, but will depend on how you load the trailer. For example.. when headed out with a full tank of fresh water at the back of the trailer, the tongue weight is less than returning with water in the black tank at the front of the trailer. -M

How does the Casita tow with the Cherokee? We are looking at this exact set up.
@Rvlove10 ай бұрын
We were amazed at how well it towed. And we sold it to another Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk owner, who agrees it has been great. Just make sure your Cherokee has the higher towing rating like ours 4,500. Also, watch your hitch height as it makes a big difference for tongue weight. Have fun -M
@grammamarth66813 жыл бұрын
Would love one of these, same model! Would a towing capacity of 3500 be enough for one?
@Rvlove3 жыл бұрын
They are really great campers. Technically... these Casita trailers weight about 2500 and have a maximum weight is only 3500, so you would be ok if you didn't carry much of anything in the towing vehicle, including passengers. The biggest potential issue is that the tongue weight might be a bit much for a vehicle with 3500 towing capacity. So... technically yes, you could, but you would need to pack light. -M

I really love your curls ! How do you get them to not frizz up lol they look great 👍

Would a single person and two 60 lb dogs fit in that RV comfortably?
@Rvlove3 жыл бұрын
Probably. But maybe one of the other floor plans would be better. Not a lot of floor space. But if ok with dogs being up on furniture, it would probably work. -M

It was cute to see the Class A towing this one... How do you plan to move yourselves from place to place, i.e. tow the tt and drive the Jeep separately, or drive the A and have Jeep tow the tt? Or can youtriple tow? (I shudder to think of the length!)
@Rvlove4 жыл бұрын
We will most likely tow the tt with the coach when re-locating significant distance, because the coach hardly notices it, compared to the Jeep. Better overall fuel economy. Multiple barriers to the triple tow idea, so we definitely won't go down that path. -M

I still work full-time and currently on a 2 week trip with a few moves during weekdays...how do you deal with working on move days? Campgrounds want you out mid-day so it interrupts the work day. What did you do back with you were full-time working? Thx
@Rvlove3 жыл бұрын
When we were full time traveling and working, travel days were super disruptive for work. When I worked for other people, we generally only moved on weekends. Once we started working for ourselves, we had more flexibility, but just ended up working different hours on move days. -M

Was there plumbing showing under the bathroom on the driver's side of the Casita? Is there a pipe of some kind (ventilation?) inside? I've seen other tours of Casitas.
@Rvlove3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the drain pipe for dumping the black and gray tanks are visible from the outside on the driver's side. And yes, there is a ventilation pipe inside the shower area. Plumbing would of course be reduced if you purchase one of the other models that is not a 'Deluxe' and therefore does not have the bathroom at the front of the camper. -M

What a great trailer for a couple! Nice score, finding a trailer used so few times. Where did you find it, and was your search long? Why did you pick Casta, and what other trailers did you consider? Thanks for sharing your video!
@Rvlove3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes, we love it. We researched these little trailers for about a year. The exact one we wanted showed up relatively quickly when we were ready to buy, but they are generally not easy to find used, and have a long wait time for new.
