Take a walk inside Tokyo Station 東京駅構内を散歩 【2022】

It is the starting point of the Tokaido Shinkansen, Tohoku Shinkansen (including the branching Yamagata Shinkansen and Akita Shinkansen), Joetsu Shinkansen, and Hokuriku Shinkansen, and is the largest base in the nationwide Shinkansen network.
It is also the starting station for major trunk lines such as the Tokaido Main Line and Tohoku Main Line.
It connects to 33 prefectures without changing trains from this station, and is one of Japan's leading terminal stations with about 3000 trains departing and arriving per day.
The number of platforms is the largest in Japan, with conventional lines having 5 planes and 10 lines above ground and 4 planes and 8 lines underground, for a total of 9 planes and 18 lines, the Shinkansen having 5 planes and 10 lines above ground, and the subway having 1 plane and 2 lines underground. The area is about 46,800 m².
The red brick Marunouchi exit station building was designed by Tatsuno Kingo and others, and was completed in 1914.
In 2003, the Marunouchi station building was designated as a national important cultural property, and the only station buildings designated as important cultural properties are this station and Mojiko station (Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture).
It is also a "100 selections of Kanto stations" certified station.
東海道新幹線と東北新幹線（分岐する山形新幹線と秋田新幹線を含む）、上越新幹線、北陸新幹線の起点となっており、全国の新幹線網における最大の拠点となっている。
また、東海道本線や東北本線など主要幹線の起点駅でもある。
当駅から乗り換えなしで33都道府県と結んでおり、1日当たりの列車発着本数は約3000本という日本を代表するターミナル駅の一つである。
プラットホームの数は日本一多く、在来線が地上5面10線と地下4面8線の合計9面18線、新幹線が地上5面10線、地下鉄は地下1面2線を有しており、面積は約46,800m²。
赤レンガ造りの丸の内口駅舎は辰野金吾らが設計し、1914年に竣工。
2003年に丸の内駅舎は国の重要文化財に指定されており、重要文化財指定の駅建築物は当駅と門司港駅（福岡県北九州市）のみである。
「関東の駅百選」認定駅でもある。
