Minami Lane is a gorgeous cozy little game about building a street and making people happy, which I think sounds all very wonderful.
Guided by our hat-wearing tanuki friend (who I refer to as a racoon initially, sorry tanuki friend!) we take on our first mission, which is to turn a drab street into a nice one! Each day we can build one new building, such as a house, a park or even a ramen shop! Each building adds something new to the street. Homes mean there are more people, the parks add beauty and the shops bring in the money we need to build more things.
The appearance of each building can be configured a little and the products that the shops sell are also configurable! Want more noodles in your ramen? Go for it! Want less egg but more shrimp? Sure thing!
On the second mission there are more new buildings, such as a bookshop, and the requirements to complete the level are a little different.
Also on each level we can see what the people on the street are thinking, which can help us plan the next day's setup, and we have to pick up litter and remember to find our tanuki friend who is hiding somewhere! Oh and there are cats to pet.
NOTE: This is the demo version of the game.

Minami Lane is a small, wholesome management game set on a Japanese-inspired street. Create and manage your own street, make sure everyone is happy, and watch the villagers live their lives!
Build your street
Build homes to add villagers to your street, then improve their happiness by beautifying every inch and building a variety of shops & attractions! These include ramen shops, boba cafes, bookstores and more, each with unique inventories and effects.
Manage your shops
Attract customers with everything from floral bouquets to karaoke! Shops you create will need your careful guidance to offer the right products at the right prices. Lead them to success and make your neighborhood thrive.
Watch your villagers live their lives
Once you start the day, you'll get to see each villager react to your street and offer helpful feedback on how to improve! Memorize their preferences and refine your street the following day.
Reach your objectives
Complete missions to unlock new levels with more buildings, villager types, and other surprises.
What Minami Lane offers:
2-4 hours of play time
Create and customize your own adorable street
Manage shops by adjusting their inventory, recipes, and prices
Play strategically to complete each level's mission objectives
Keep the streets clean by picking up trash
Tanukis and cats!
What Minami Lane does not offer:
Hardcore strategy
Multiplayer
Tons of missions
Ongoing content updates after release
In Minami Lane's missions, you'll need to strategically plan each day and use random events to your advantage to complete multiple objectives.
The sandbox mode focuses on creativity and relaxation, allowing you to immerse yourself in the peaceful, cozy world without the stress of objectives.
Minami Lane is the collaborative effort of Dorian (Doot) and Doriane (Blibloop). Doot, a former data scientist turned game developer, brings light strategy and management gameplay, while Blibloop breathes life into the isometric world with her Studio Ghibli-inspired, hand-drawn designs. We really hope you will enjoy this tiny game we made with love 💕

We say "Use your noodle!" in Australia, or my grandparents did and my parents do. But it probably came from my grandparents, who came from England after the WWII. Haha! I was excitedly shouting at the screen, "Cat, cat, CAT!!" and you missed it!! 😂 It was a lovely stripy ginger cat and he walked about quite a bit while you were watching the people's reaction to the shop... 😍 LOL! Maths with Penge... 2 out of 3, means for every 3 people in total, 2 have to be young. 🤣 What a lovely game. 😀

(It's Ebba with her tea again 😊) 2 out of 3 youth villagers means that 2/3 of your total villagers need to be young. So, for say, 12 total villagers in your street, 8 of them need to be young; for 15 total villagers, 10 of them would need to be young... etc.

Re the “why less noodles?” around 16~17min, this is probably because Japan counts noodles in servings! So “1 noodle” is 1 full serving in your bowl.

"Use your noodle" is definitely something I've heard before(I'm in Atlantic Canada), but it's uncommon. Mostly from older people. Haha

The animal is a tanuki, a Japanese raccoon dog! Fun trivia; You often see statues of them outside of shops here for good luck because they are depicted with a massive set of…ahem…male assets 🤣 the word for “golden ball” and “testicles” is spelt differently but sounds the same in Japanese (Kintama), so the idea is that the large assets will bring fortune to your business 🤣

2 out of 3 young villagers means for every 3 villagers you have, 2 of them should be young. So if you have 15 villagers, 10 should be young.

This was such a charming little game. I'm downloading the demo right now to give it a try for myself. Though I also love a good tea, I've never tried Boba. I'm not a fan of tapioca, so I'm afraid the it would probably not appeal to me. I'm in the Northern US and I have heard "use your noodle" many times over the years, but I don't hear it much these days.

I'm team less noodle, more pork. I like ramen but I find it very hard to finish a full bowl of noodles in shop sizes because it's like 3 whole cups worth of noodles. I can easily finish all the toppings and soup, but I almost never can finish all the noodles cause there is just too many. It doesn't help that I get gluten free noodles due to allergies so they are a bit more dense.

I know I've heard the phrase "Use your noodle" before, but I've been a bit of an Anglophile ever since high school. Watching BBC shows since the first time I saw Monty Python and Fawlty Towers. So I genuinely don't know if I've heard it outside of that BBC context or not despite having heard it for decades.

(It's Ebba with her tea again 😊) Oh yes... "Use your noodle" (either preceded or followed by "for goodness sake!"). Very popular phrase used by my mother (in Canada) as I was growing up. We could tell she was "a bit miffed" when she brought that one out.🙃 I tended to use "God gave you a brain... use it!" instead... once I'd grown up and left home. 🤣
