That half track is awesome. The sort of thing you normally only see in old WW2 footage

Can you play any other tune on the gearbox 😊

You need to learn how to double clutch. The grinding gear change was painful

Having a truck myself which requires double de-clutching I can assure you we did that. Understand that these things are old and who knows how they were treated during their lifetime :-)

@@michaelscaplis Are you sure he was not operating the clutch brake as well as the clutch by pushing the pedal too far down when double de-clutching on down changes? Is the free play adjustment correct?

@@dukwdriver2909 hard to say it's more than 4 years ago. We can't test again as the engine block had suffered a crack while we were preparing the vehicle to take part in the July 21st parade and the Liberation columns. We used the Bedford QLB in its place (which did both the Liberation column North + South without any hickups!).

@@michaelscaplis Great to hear the QLB made both runs successfully. I think the work you guys do to keep this history alive is very important. Sad to hear about the Matador engine block. I do hope you can find a replacement as they used the same engine in many of their bus chassis too. I once saw an external crack on a Cletrac Tractor block repaired by a process called "stapling", if that helps.

@@dukwdriver2909 Thx for the kind words. Unfortunately we're just a small team of volunteers and budget is quite limited. On top of that there are lots of other projects which require our attention. I recall having seen a video on external crack repair so indeed it's possible. These days we get a lot of requests for event participation with some of our cold war vehicles and that's taking up a lot of bandwidth and we're still working on the Churchill mk IV restoration.
The most boring WW2 vehicle? The schwerer Wehrmachtschlepper
