Elton John is a musical genious. Wouldn't it be great if he could go back in time and play with Mozart? I bet he is alot like him. People like that are on a whole other level than the rest of us. I saw him in 1984 I think he is better than ever. Wow, thanks for sharing.

I remember going to a show where Elton J played a similar intro to this very song..it was a long and very beautuful into lasting a good 4 minutes and in the middle of it he played a few notes of the Lord's my Shephard...I couldn't believe my ears it was so very clever! :-)

People like Elton John and Freddie Mercury and/were brilliant musicians . The media and some people need something negative to write and talk about because they can't offer the same . Hell , even Liberace was a great musician , with or without his flamboyance . It brings spice to the performances .

hi, i'm 25 now, elton-fan since i'm 12 years old. back then in school, they also laughed about me & the reaction was everytime he's gay .. so don't worry .. this are two pairs of shoes: one is elton's private life, the other is his music, and both is great, also because he's now 'married' with david!

i'm a big fan. saw him do this song at fillmore east 1970ish. the intro sounds like ok backround music only. I like the rest of the song and the power house ending.

Sorry. Just hate it when the negative comments come out about someone as iconic as EJ. He could be playing a toy piano and it would be better than most pros on a Steinway! In case you are interested, he switched to digital decades ago! *I'm chilled now....really I am! :) *

technocrash09 His Yamaha is a real fully functioning Grand piano, but the sound is coming from external sources. The strings in the piano have microphones above them on a cross bar under the lid. But even then they only account for about 5% of the sound. Elton's piano sound comes from a mixture of Roland And Yamaha piano module voices. That are ran through his piano via MIDI. Since Elton's pianos are Yamaha Disklaviers ( CFllls 9 foot models) they have MIDI capabilities and much much more.

Hello! When I was young and this man was younger in the seventies and eighties, no one gave a damn about him being gay. No one would put the focus on that. Music was the main thing. What has happend to the f world?

Who are you to say what is right? The Bible was written by Man, who is inperfect. God wants us to live a happy life on earth. God created all of us the way we are for a good reason. He wouldn't want to make us a certain way, so he could send us to hell. Being gay is not a sin. And that has to be the best intro I've ever seen!

I think this is real. I don't think that he was performing using a prerecording. I think I like listening to someone who can perform live for real. I, also, think I like the fact that he doesn't blame the "industry" and try to punish the fans by not allowing this to be LISTENED TO!!! BTW: Fuck the industry!!! They're really helping us all. Selfish bastards. It's good for them that they've almost abolished free radio.

@tyleryesta1 Okay, I'll chill. But I will say, I've seen the man 3 times since the 70s. I play some piano myself and I say that even on a grand that you KNOW is authentic, Sir Elton can make it sound unreal......just sayin. It's all good. I just get ticked when someone sounds like they are dis-ing an icon! peace

@Kingofhorror87 People that don't like his music don't like him. And that's ok. But people that don't like him and his music shouldn't listen to it. Some are simply looking to start some shit. It's like George Carlin said; you can always change the station, "Reverend". What is it that makes some people screw with others about liking or listenning to something? I think people that have a problem with gaydom have some problem with themselves; maybe a gay fantasy? I think people like to ...

I'm not a fan of the piano sound he gets now either. It actually has midi triggers that trigger a yamaha piano synth module, and that's about 70% of the sound, with the other 30% being the actual miked piano. Not to mention he uses unbelievably outdated samples. It really cuts through the band, but unfortunately sounds pretty awful, especially solo.
