I know that feeling re The Wax Museum DC , amazing sound, not a bad seat in the place unless it sat in front of you- & now it's all a parking lot . From the Animals '83, The BAND reunions, R McGuinn, Richie Havens, DCrosby & that hot band Knechtel, Kunkel, et al [& that's before STUPID thought because they CSN were playing a Texas venue, he HAD A RIGHT 👍 TO SMOKE ALL THE CRACK HE COULD & IN HIS UNDERSHORTS - THIS IS AMERICA!! Huh? FOOL]. The Roaches, Dave Mason, Warren Zevon, NICKSILVER (10-4-83- check that one out), Albert Collins, Jorma, on & on- if it hit the Bottom Line, The Beacon, The Capitol in Passaic, The Tower - it probably kept going to/from the WAX MUSEUM DC I COULD RELEASE EVERYTHING I'D SEEN AT THAT PLACE & IT'D SELL OUT (A FEW-5 THOUSAND EASY. >RIP GOOD 🎼in DC

I began listening to Elton John in the car with my older sister Susan! When she got her drivers license when I was just six years old. Susan would pick me up from school, we would get a slushy,go for a ride and listen to Elton on the 8 track tape player in the car! The car was my grandfathers big old Oldsmobile and it was MAGICAL for a six year old. I felt so cool and it is one of my best memories with my sister! How many of you remember 8 track tapes?

8 tracks were obsolete by the time I was born in '89, however when I was real young I remember riding with my Aunt Debbie (she's been gone for 20 years now) in her Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme listening to Billy Joel on 8 track in her 1978 Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme on the way to a family reunion. I was 7 or 8 at the time.

if you listen carefully to the lyrics the song is about a guy named Levon who is an ordinary man who lives his lives following his believes (work to get money without giving too much attention to his dreams) and Jesus, his son, wants to go sailing and enjoy live leaving his father behind to live his days until his live ends. Its brilliant!

What a rush to have been in that string section. Madman Across the Water broke new ground as it won the orchestral community's nod of approval. The lack-luster attempts in earlier recordings to "pad" pop music with strings - or something trying to sound like a string section - were shunned. The arrangements for the album by Paul Buckmaster are simply perfect.
