Shelly Winters, so watchable, stunning to look at and just in that short scene, she had more captivating magic than any of the insipid so called female stars of today, I am defending a truly talented and amazing actress of old Hollywood, shame some of the watchers of these classic film noir masterpieces can’t see beyond their own noses and unable to appreciate a natural fine actress as the late Shelly Winters, I’d advise those watchers to stick to the boring unimaginative and totally unstylish films that Hollywood is sadly spouting out these days, Shelly Winters if she was around today could knock the socks off most if not all the sad female so called stars of contemporary Hollywood, where has the real star quality of those glamorous days?, sadly gone I’m afraid.

Didn't mind being ugly in a role. She did the gritty as well as the graceful. Roomed with Marilyn Monroe. They shared clothing. MM stretched out the backside and SW stretched out the bodice front. The history of Ms. Winters is quite the romp. IMDb can give you her filmography. Decades of a master at her craft.

She wasn't stunning. Ask a man. I've seen her early publicity pics. I'm not hating on her, I just don't get her appeal as an actress and she certainly wasn't a looker. Compare her to other beautiful actresses from the era and you'll see how she doesn't fit and was not even close to being in their tier as far as looks. And note how she looked as she aged. Other actresses still look like they used to be beautiful in their heyday while Winters looks like she'd be Roseanne's mother, a role she played.

An engaging good story and picture of styles of the 40s-50s; especially clothing. (Men dressed sharp, like gentlemen. Ladies dressed tastefully, like ladies.) But Shelly Winters, contrary to other of her performances, presents a very unsympathetic character, making a mess of everything; especially the end. The movie was made in the early years of the "jet/atomic age"; notice the jet-styled grill vent on the Ford shoebox coupe. It was also the transition from giant thundering howling steam locomotives to sleek formidable diesel-electrics. By way of a big steam engine casually pulling through a crossing in the background of an earlier scene, is a flash-glimpse teaser of something serious sure to come rolling along later; the monster steam engine, now fully fired-up, pulling a heavy freight train at top speed; opposite direction, at top speed, triple-engine diesel-electrics pulling a long passenger train, sounding its ominous horn in duet with mournful blasting whistle of roaring steam engine. Heck of a perfect film noir. Thanks for posting DFF: C.A.

@angelinacarranza641710 ай бұрын
Of course they can! They didn’t use DNA. The scarf had a New York store label. In those days you did the invoice by hand of each article bought and to be paid in the Cash Register. I guess it was supposed to be a posh store, where items were original & unique with few same items sold.

"Vic-xg2kc," "the opening credits and as with many films the closing credits too are missing" -- as "donmoore7785" has helpfully noted, surely it's a protection, a precaution in order to keep the copyright holder(s) from insisting KZbin taking down "Take One False Step." It was NOT done to intentionally upset the viewers. And it's nearly inconceivable that the poster, any poster, of the movie would do such a thing. p.s. I very much enjoyed the story, the acting, the settings and the great location photography, so it saddens me to observe a seemingly endless pissing match over Shelley Winters' appeal or talent, yet primarily, her unavoidable-to-ignore, difficult to digest dangerous and unsightly weight gain.
@cattymajiv10 ай бұрын
@@scvandy3129 The owners of KZbin movie channels are, or should be, well aware that chopping up movies does nothing to avoid a copyright strike, any more than the other stupid tricks that have been tried will do. KZbin has long since used computer programs that search the content for copyright infringements. Even tricks that make movies literally unwatchable don't escape the software. Now AI, or artificial intelligence, is used, which is even more sensitive, 1000 times as sensitive. And all channel owners know that, so I find it impossible to believe they think this will help them. I think they mistakenly think that people want this. And I think they never read the comments to find out if they are right. But since commenting is all that we can do, I guess we can only continue. They need to realize that although some info from the opening credits is repeated in the closing ones, there are some facts that are only stated once, in the opening or closing, so we need them both to get all the info.
