Jayni,thank you so much. Everything you said about my being an Emotional Suggestible on the previous video turned out to be 100% accurate, and you were right, my answers to the test really did surprise me. The induction was incredibly powerful, the drop into trance was a wonderful free fall, to a place inside I've never been before. I couldn't see my paper with any clarity,but I felt the words were saying,"I have the answer".

@Tim Eman, yes, your Emotional Suggestibility makes you a strong candidate for a musical induction; this is because music is an inferred deepening technique; you are not being asked to directly imagine something but instead are given music to allow you to go wherever you wish. Emotional Suggestibles much prefer it that way. :)
@timeman42310 жыл бұрын
Interesting, thank you for the education. I love the sound of your voice on all the videos, but on this one, when coupled with that music, has an immediate and extremely powerful effect on me, the second it starts, I instantly feel myself dropping,and my subconscious opening, focusing on your voice. If I didn't know better I would think my mind had been pre- programed, but it just happens, every time.

The susceptibility type thing really spoke to me and explained my delayed emotional reaction to emotionally provocative situations and stimuli (which has often come in handy in my previous line of work) and I got pretty relaxed during the hypnosis thing but I started drifting some time before the elevator part and by the time I was supposed to be writing on the paper, I was kind if annoyed with myself because I'm actually in a situation/state of events where I critically NEED TO KNOW THIS INFORMATION! If only I could have stayed down longer for the elevator ride, haha! I'm going to try this again later.

Thank you for another in a wonderful series of videos. The first half I found very engrossing as you taught me something about hypnosis I didn't know and in a way that I could easily comprehend. I seem to have a mixture of the two though physical would appear to have the upper hand. The induction phase was again very skilful and very effective. On my paper I saw the sentence "This is a wonderful state" so I guess my unconscious very much enjoys the hypnotic state you create. Thank you and I look forward with great pleasure to future videos.

michkr144 I am thrilled that you were able to gain so much from the educational part of the video. That is a very important message and I am so glad it came through clearly for you. We are all on a scale between "low and high" for both suggestibilities, so it is natural to feel you can relate to both. Based on the fact that you were able to visualize your paper and the words "This is a wonderful state" shows the higher frequency of Physical Suggestibility that you are in. Wonderful! Good luck in the drawing next Friday for a chance to have a free phone/Skype session!

Hello Bruce! It seems you fit the description perfectly for a very high "Emotional Suggestible". This means that you are likely more reserved and protective when it comes to showing your emotions. This type of personality also has a very difficult time with visualization, but is keenly attuned to sound. There is absolutely nothing at all wrong with you - you are perfect just as you are. If you would like to practice visualization, however, I would have you simply start by looking down at your own hand for 30 seconds, and then closing your eyes and working on bringing as much detail of your hand into "sight". Instead of setting the bar so high that you believe you must see your entire hand to "succeed", instead ask yourself, "If I could just IMAGINE that one detail of my hand was present before me, what would it be?" Use the word "imagine" rather than "visualize"....and start with one detail and work up from there. With practice, you can tap into this tool that is often very useful in deep subconscious work. Hope this helps!

Great stuff! I felt very deep towards the end. BTW, I answered with my first name. And although I usually visualize things very easily in ordinary situations, I almost never do in trances. This time, I never saw any hands, but I did very vividly see a pen writing on paper at that stage of the trance. Stuff like that has happened very, very rarely in all my years of trying hypnosis.
@JourneyWithJayniHypnotherapy8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for joining me on this Journey! Your experience in not being able to visualize your hands at the beginning of the process, but having the ability to strongly visualize the pen and paper later on as you progressed deeper into the subconscious realm is a wonderful example that at the root of ourselves, we are more capable than we know. I hope you'll subscribe and join me again...
@GodfreySilas9 жыл бұрын
The suggestibility quantification and its analysis is very reasonable. I suggest that it is complexified or constrained, in this example, by linguistic ambiguity that afflicts those for whom the English language is a foreign language. I am a world traveler and so I know that most people for whom English is a second language, in spite of their psychologic-framework, would hear the phrasing as asking their name. It is the case that Americans in general are not tuned to implicit nuances that our language entrains. By the way, it is duly pertinent to commend Jayni for her veritably effectual brand of hypnotic induction work. She injects the requisite harmonic melody into her distinct style. - Godfrey Silas
@JourneyWithJayniHypnotherapy9 жыл бұрын
Godfrey Silas Thank you for this very good point made; those who speak English as a second language may not pick up on the inference, if it is there. Suggestibility is so much deeper than this one "quickie test", but it is a fun way to get viewers to consider their "listening and interpreting" style. By the way, and this is a bigger point I want to make in this response --- you have a very powerful energy. I had warm chills when reading your comment. Use it for wonderful things, as I am sure you do. You have a gift.

This worked really well. It turns out that I'm an emotional suggestible, which didn't make sense to me until you explained it. I've been disappointed in the past by what I can now recognise as "physical" methods, which would run headlong into my hyper-analysing tendencies and fall to bits. But with this one I went deeper than I've ever gone before, and really communed with my subconscious. And it turns out that my subconscious is a total troll. It gave me a rickety old picnic table to write on, gnarled wood and great gaps between the slats, so that my pen could hardly write on it, and kept pushing through the page over those gaps, making holes. Oh, and I didn't get a pen, I got a mechanical pencil, and the nib kept breaking off on the texture of the wood. This was all somewhat frustrating, but I felt super-relaxed so I easily powered on and let the message be written, which turned out to be less edifying than I'd hoped. "Hello. Woooo! Australopithecine." Nice one, brain.

LeStargazer I am so pleased that you are connecting so well here, and I look forward to having you along for the Journey. If you had a hesitation between the two answers, then we can learn more about your suggestibility by looking at your primary caretaker in the first few years of your life. Were they the described Physical or Emotional? Whichever they were, you will be. Based on your hesitation, my belief is that you are likely more Emotional, but over the weeks I will help you learn more about your Suggestibility and how to determine it. Thank you for your comment!

Sounds like you liked to see how people would react to a very literal response! Children do this a lot to "test" the waters with others, so it doesn't necessarily mean you are an Emotional Suggestible. How did/do you respond to this question as an adult?

So i got a lot of conflicting signs during this. First part i said yes which would make me physical. Then however during the explanation i fit more emotional considering i keep my emotions hidden which then got conflicted again with the caretaker part. with the imagine or visualize part i think i have a hard time visualizing my hands and during the rest of the exercise i was fully concious but could imagine feeling a pen and seeing paper but when you asked what to wrote i was completely blank. Jayni thank you so much for all your info! What's your take on this... I would think I'm an emotional/inferred bc I said my name & my primary care giver would mostly not follow thru with a punishment as promised BUT was also extremely affectionate which you say makes me more in tune with a physical induction.
@JourneyWithJayniHypnotherapy8 жыл бұрын
Sasha, I'm so happy to see you've taken the plunge into learning about your hypnotic suggestibility! Knowing this about yourself, as well as any lovers/partners you have will help tremendously in understanding your behaviors as an individual and also as you are in relationships. If you answered with your name, this often indicates a likelihood of being an Emotional Suggestible, but this is only the first of many tests to determine this for certain, and in your case I believe we have a different outcome for you. Once we start to look at your primary caretaker from your earliest years, we can get a better sense of your learned suggestibility. If your primary caretaker did not follow through with promises/punishments but was extremely affectionate, that would likely make them a Physical Suggestible (the affection shows that) but with what is referred to as an Emotional Defense (indicated by not following through with things they say.) When a parent does this, the child learns to infer much of the messages they are given - becoming more apt to "read between the lines", study body language and tones of voice, etc. This often creates a very insightful and intuitive child, though this child can also display signs of insecurity and anxiety. What does it mean to have an Emotional (or Physical) Defense? A Suggestibility "Defense" is an exception to the rule of a persons natural Suggestibility which is developed as a way to cope and protect themselves. In your case, this caretaker is naturally a Physical Suggestible (we know this because prolonged physical affection is not comfortable for a tried and true Emotional Suggestible), but this primary caretaker created an unnatural Suggestibility Defense (likely in rebellion of their own upbringing) which in this case mimics Emotional Suggestible traits. Because this primary caretaker was extremely affectionate on a regular basis, this action trumps many and almost positively determines that your primary caretaker was/is a natural Physical Suggestible which would make you one as well. The "Emotional Defense" that this caretaker created when you were very young is also something that was passed to you - you learned to adapt to inferred messages - making you extremely intuitive, quite anxious, but exceptionally affectionate all the same. Please let me know if this made sense - I know it is a LOT of information to download into your psyche! Big Hugs to You!

I have a problem imagining anything my eyes cant see. Yet my parents and grandmother were very touchy , loving people to me and physical with dicipline. Ive tried many inductions to get hypnotized by a therapist or videos. Im beginning to think i cant be hypnotized cos i just cant switch off or clear my mind or focus. I have many problems but cant get the help i need.

+markdagolfa It sounds to me that you are higher on the spectrum of the Emotional Suggestible (saying your name, not being able to visualize as easily with your eyes closed...) Though your parents and grandparent may have been physical in their love and discipline, it is likely that the PRIMARY parent was an Emotional Suggestible with what is referred to as "Physical Suggestible Defenses". The later describes a learned behavior that didn't always come naturally. Being more "physical" could have been something that the Emotional Suggestible primary parent discovered would be a more appropriate way to parent. However, there would have been more Emotional Suggestible behaviors (hard to express feelings verbally, looked for the inferred messages often, sometimes having a hard time forgiving, etc) that may be realized as you reflect about their behaviors. Everyone can be hypnotized, and experiences hypnosis naturally every day -- but trusting another person to guide you there is something that can be harder for some than others. Continue working on self hypnosis from home --- listen to my videos when you have no distractions and begin to teach yourself to trust the process. Not every induction type will be successful, but you are sure to find one in your time. I would be glad to help you with any personal matters you wish to work on. You may message me at my website: journeywithjayni.com

during the trance i wrote on a pad with my right hand, eyes closed, (I am normally Left handed, but have been learning to write with my right hand - bit scruffy 😃) when I looked at the writing after opening my eyes, the writing was clearer than writing with my eyes open !... (I wrote "Hello, Let me learn, Help me") I am surprised.. I believe Im physical suggestible. not sure what that meant !

That was interesting - though it was difficult for me to imagine or visualise myself writing, I could certainly feel what it was like to hold a pen, (I wonder how important it is that I've just written 'a pen' rather than 'the pen'? Though the thought did occur to me.) Anyway, assuming that I wrote something, or at least, that something was written, the word that came to mind, when told to look at what was written, was "Jung". I wonder what you'd make of that?
@JourneyWithJayniHypnotherapy9 жыл бұрын
subbie cross Thank you for sharing your experience with the trance writing Journey - wonderful feedback! These experiences can sometimes be like opening a window just a short ways, and not being able to peak in fully until we learn to open the window wider. This is something that is done with multiple sessions. I invite you to try this again a time or two and specifically ask your subconscious mind to explain "Jung" in written form. If you do not see the pen or paper, at least imagine that it is there and what that might feel like - the message will come through all the same. See you next time!

I answered with my name but I am very good at visualization. Also my mom was physical at first (minus the punishment) and then became less physical when I started turning 5 or so. Also her threats were never true. I'm confused, and I'll also can't seem to be hypnotized.

Tried my best. The only message I got was "what do you want from me?" Is that a normal message from your subconscious? Or am I wired? Or was that still my conscious mind? Any thoughts?

What if I said "yes" automatically, but correspond to the description of the emotional suggestible behaviour and also totally fail to respond to pretty much any induction? Also, visualization of current body state is easy, but pretty much at any "imagine X" suggestion I fail to summon images.

Great questions! No one is every truly 100% Emotional or 100% Suggestible - it is likely that you are very close to a 50/50 split. Often times in these cases, you may have adapted to utilizing a secondary suggestibility as your PRIMARY as a defense. I can discuss this more and we can determine your true Suggestibility percentiles and induction matches if you're interested in a private session. I offer the first at a discount of $45 for KZbin Subscribers....www.journeywithjayni.com

As much as I'd like to try a private session, I'm flat broke. But I find this idea of having pulled some kind of switch on myself really plausible. I'm both hyper analytical and emotional by nature, and have nonstop mental commentary, so it's also plausible that I'm just a hard case. I'll definitely keep trying with everything I can find though!

Great questions, George. Everyone can be hypnotized - but some are far more suggestible than others. You may also not have found the right induction method that works best for you. Have you tried more than one video, with different induction techniques? So...I told you my name (in my head) and would be an emotional. But my caregiver was physically demonstrative and I am quick to feel my own emotions as well as those of others (cause I'm an empath). That said, I also have pretty good control over my emotions too (can be very logical). I also have no problem visualizing. 🤔 So none of this seemed accurate...at least for me.
@JourneyWithJayniHypnotherapy4 жыл бұрын
You seem to be a Physical Suggestible with "Emotional Suggestibility Defense". This puts you more in the middle when it comes to the spectrum, which is a solid place to be.

Sometimes it takes a few "trips" to learn how to let go of the need to stay in control. We get very used to our conscious minds being in the drivers seat while we are "awake".

None of those suggestions work. I listen, hear them, and I know they're suggestions. Many years ago, I (and many other people) took part in a scientific trial of hypnosis, suggestibility, etc. I saw hypnotists and psychologists in two one-hour sessions. At the end they told me I was one of the few people who couldn't be hypnotised.
@JourneyWithJayniHypnotherapy8 жыл бұрын
Than you for sharing your experience, Xavier. The trust is, if someone doesn't want to be hypnotized, they won't be. Pure and simple. This is not a magic trick, contrary to misconception. You have to WANT to "let go" and accept the suggestions - there isn't a hypnotist in the world that can make someone do something against their will. (If that were possible, imagine the things that could happen!) So if you want to use your willpower to "fight off" these suggestions, you have the power to do so, just like everyone else. The idea with Clinical Hypnotherapy is that my work is solely to offer positive suggestions to people who seek them, and who choose with their own willpower to accept them, not reject positive manifestation. Perhaps ask yourself about the level of trust you have of others, and the potential choices you make to deny positive change. There may be a lot to uncover there for you. Thank you for joining me here, and I hope you stick around!
@xavierkreiss83948 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your answer. I can assure you that during those tests I really did want to be hypnotised. The idea was fascinating. The people doing the testing were highly qualified, and most of the people tested responded. My brother, for instance, "regressed" to childhood! The testers just shrugged and said that I was not unique, that some other people were like me. How in the world can I force myself to be receptive? The road to my unconscious mind seems blocked. If I make an effort to unblock it, then I have to do it with my conscious mind. We have a vicious circle here. A hypnotherapist here in London told me I could possibly (but nor certainly) be hypnotised if I first did relaxation exercises twice a day for two or three weeks. I'd never heard anyone before say "everyone can be hypnotised but some must first go on a regular programme of exercises"... he was saying (in so many words) that if I wanted to be hypnotised, I'd have to change. My point exactly. As I am now, I can't be. I have seen quite a lot of research on the subject. Most scientific websites seem to indicate that some people can't be hypnotised. One site, for instance, suggests three people out of every ten. I took an on-line test hypnosis.edu/articles/hypnotized I scored 2 out of 10. The website says the result indicates that "Hypnosis may not be for you. You may find it hard to enter a trance and may have trouble responding to hypnotic suggestions". I know that hypnotism works, and that it's safe. I was hoping that it might help me with a few (minor) problems. But as the website says: it's not for me.

Interesting! Let me ask you this - have you ever driven in a car and arrived at your destination but then realized you don't recall taking your exit or perhaps part of the distance that you drove? Its a very common experience most people can relate to and it is a natural state of hypnosis. We call it "Highway Hypnosis". I am only curious to know if you can relate to experiencing natural "trance-like" states, but are unable to take direction to go into hypnosis on command.
@xavierkreiss83948 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your email. No, this "highway hypnosis" has never happened to me. I no longer drive (in London I find it more practical to use public transport) but when I did I never had an experience of that sort. I concentrated on my driving and on staying in control. This didn't stop me from enjoying the scenery or a chat with the passenger(s) in my car if there were any. This sort of "trance" by the way sounds dangerous. Anyone driving while not fully conscious is a danger to him/her self and to others. I don't think I've ever experienced a "trance-like state" - but would I remember if I did? Thank you for your tolerant attitude. You'd be surprised at the number of people who believe "anyone can be hypnotised" (this was never proven) and tell me I'm not trying hard enough.
@JourneyWithJayniHypnotherapy8 жыл бұрын
I can see how if you haven't experienced "Highway Hypnosis" it would sound unsafe. In actuality, being in a trance-like state is something a majority of people do regularly while still functioning astonishingly well. Subconsciousness has many levels of depth and not all levels mean a person is completely asleep or blacked out. We are just transferring between many different states of awareness. If this is not something you do, then you are in a minority but by no means are you alone! Thank you for sharing your experience with me!
