Thank you for this reaction! It is the chinese version of Better. They were supposed to release this at the same time of BoA's 20th anniversary of debut but got delayed due to several reasons. XIN Liu (pronounced as "shin") is the best selling female artist in Mainland China right now, both for digital and physical albums. Apparently, SM wanted her since 2019 (even if she wasn't famous back then). She doesn't have any connections with SM but she is so talented so LSM wanted this collab to happen so bad. If you want to get to know her more, she has a youtube channel called XIN Liu. She just released her album XANADU (my personal favorite is I and I). Another info about this MV, this was shot in two different places, BoA in Korea and XIN in China, and it was shot a year ago. It was a such a treat to see two QUEENS collabing 😍

XIN was invited for this collaboration. No one actually knows how this happened but Lee Soon Man has constantly expressed his admiration for XIN and named her the Rising Star in Asia. This was filmed last year June in their own respective country- yeap they weren't physically together in this MV! After all, as an audience, I'm truly excited and happy with this collab! Love it!

This is the same song as 2020/2021 Better, the difference is only that this is the Chinese version (with Chinese language), and this actually recorded last year, but the release delayed to until last Monday due to some reasons. Xin is not under SM, she is a Chinese songwriter singer which originally a professional popper, so she also great at dancing different types of dance. She is releasing an album of 10 songs with 10 MVs and 10 different type of dance style. The song is just the Chinese version of BETTER, but the collab between those 2 makes an event out of this. This collab was arranged by Lee Soo Man (SM's founder) around 2019, then covid and Chinese/Korean restrictions happened, they recorded the song in 2020 and the MV separately in 2021, but it kept being delayed. So finally it could be released in 2022. The record it's one of the top releases right now in China, got top 3 in the overall streaming chart and it's doing pretty great. Xin is one of the biggest Chinese female artists out right now.

Long story short (maybe not too short) - It's the same song but a chinese version with a different theme - "confrontation" so SM founder Lee Soo Man's strategy was to find a popular female solo artist who can represent China's best to do this chinese version with BoA, both matched in dance skills and singing skills. In the past year XIN has risen to the top in China so there is no better choice than her. SM approached XIN, recorded the song and shot the MV last year but waited till this year to release for a number of reasons. Throughout the past year, XIN has risen to be the most popular female solo artist in China, best selling EPs and albums of all time by a female artist, all titles matched by her outstanding work and style. Her songs and dance moves are dope. She started with hardcore street dance popping but branched out to be skilled in a lot of other dances vastly different from popping (waacking, krump, urban, dancehall, lyrical dance, power jazz, etc) but still with her own flavor. She also produces a lot of her own songs too. Lee Soo Man saw in her from her first EP "Epsilon" but she then fledged out with her full-length dance music album "Xanadu" with 10 songs 10 dance-version MV (9 are out now). Until this MV, I had no idea who XIN was but, as a queer person with a penchant for androgyny, I was in love even before she opened her mouth. Then she sang and danced and I was like “daaaaang I have to check out more of her stuff!” And then I found out how phenomenal her dancing and rapping skills are. Now I’m in too deep but that’s okay. Hear me out: collab with Taemin. The popping and strong angles. The singing. She can do the rap parts. The androgyny. I would give anything to see that! Make it happen, Lee Soo Man!

You should check out Youth with You (the show she got 1st place on) There are 2 other contestants on the show, Lu Keran and Lin Fan who are androgynous and those two are in a girl group (FanxyRed) where all the members are also androgynous.

If you enjoy Xin's (Xin Liu) vocal, style and performance, they are a lot of songs by her you could react to. All of them have a great dance performance too! To make some suggestions, you could check out "Look Into The Mirror MV" "Like Love MV" "Baby I Know MV". If you search these + the name Xin Liu they will come up =) Also I understand your confusion....the truth is, it's Xin's added vocal and in Chinese, but also BoA's vocal sounds a bit different than in the original version - because the mixing and arrangement was also redone ;).

Lee Soo Man was the one who planned and produced this collab as this is part for 20th Debut anniversary of BoA. It was shoot last year and got delayed because of the pandemic, hectic scheds and other reasons

The collaboration meant to come out sooner, it was shot in early 2021. However, since Xin has a temporary contract with iqiyi for two years after winning youth with you II, that company try to stop or postpone the collaboration since they don’t want Xin to be popular (no benefit can be made due to her contract with her original company if she’s popular). Therefore, it cannot be released until now when Xin got back to her original company
