To the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir - the words of this song are still relevant in 2022! I love the Lord and today I gave Him a part of my life that I had not been willing to surrender fully to him and pay the cost - but Jesus is ABLE! HIS strength is perfect when ours is gone, so I am taking up my cross and walking in Faith for his divine power has given us EVERYTHING we need for life and Godliness. Praises be to God! Keep on being used - you're so right - cause sometimes the road is lonely and we do feel like we can't go on - but we can make it if we TAKE UP OUR CROSS and FOLLOW JESUS EVERY DAY.

Jesus admonished us to deny ourselves, take up the cross and follow him. That is to deny what we think, want and feel. What Christ has for us is so much better, but we won't have that experience until we fully surrender. Let the Lord know that you want him and him alone, take a stand against this world of sin (nothing is worth going to Hell for) . God will supply your soul with miraculous grace and power to turn the temptations down. God's power is real!

Taking up our cross and following Jesus means that we are willing to lay down everything we have, our jobs, our relationships, our educations. all our priviledges, all our rights, and even our very lives to follow Jesus. When we take a stand for Jesus and for God's world, there will naturally be backlash from the world, because the devil is the god of this world, and he hates Jesus, so when we choose to follow Jesus he will hate us too.So the world will cast us out and ostracise us for our faith in Jesus. In the West, persecution may not have reached the level of those brothers and sisters in the Eastern countries like China, but if you read their stories you would have a better idea of what it means to take up your cross. People have been tortured because of their decision to follow Jesus, they have been stoned, beaten, and so on. Just think about what Jesus went through at Calvary. But he went through so much more than you or I could ever go through here on earth. So because of that, we must be willing to go through everything that we must go through for him, since it's only a tip of the ice berg compared to what he went through. 2 Timothy 2:12 If we suffer with him, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he will also deny us. Matthew 5:10-12 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Here is an example of how a preacher in the Bible suffered because of his faith. Acts 7:54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth, But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. And the stoned Stephen, calling upon god, and saying Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. Take note that the people stoning him were the religious leaders of this day. Many "churches" today preach half truths, and if you stand up for the whole truth, they will also persecute you because they are in fact servants of satan mascarading as servants of the light (see 2 Corinthians 11:13-15). Prosperity Gospel preachers certainly will never talk to you about carrying your cross in this way. Here are some other scriptures: Luke 14:26 - 33 Matthew 10:16-42 Mark 13:5-37, particularly verses 9,11,12,13. Luke 21:14-19 So in the physical realm, following Jesus is not always pleasant. Paul also went through his fair share of sufferings (see 2 Cor 6:3-10). But remember that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that will be revealed in us.
