I vacuum weekly I feel it doesn’t disrupt the tank as much when you do it routinely. I still dose good bacteria weekly though.

A little tip, when siphoning the sand bed, you can put the end of the tube into the sumps filter sock and get a continuous loop if you didn’t want to do a big water change.

Great tip!!!

@@Mikeymikemike I suppose it's only one of the few benefits of a sump 😬 apart from extra space to put frags in, so the main display doesn't look a mess 😂
@digsouth13313 жыл бұрын
This is the secret tip that makes ur sand bed always clean , I do this a few times a week , and wash the socks out when done but I’m on a tank that doesn’t have a sump but use a bucket instead and simply wash the socks when done and hang dry the socks out on a clothesline and reuse ever 4 days or so however do not do this method if you have went longer than a month or so without cleaning your sand bed because you can cause a nitrate spike or nutrient / bacteria imbalance. You wanna still do water changes if you haven’t cleaned your sand bed prior

Could you go over what types of filtration you use in your canister filter. (Bio,Mech,chem) I have a 30 gallon with a canister filter and I’ve been struggling with cyano. I’ve upped the flow in my tank recently. Cut back on the feeding. I’ve only been using sponges in my canister and my LFS told me to only use bio today. Would like to know what you’re using.
