Tried this and I've never hit the ball as well in my life. Long and straight with a feel of compression I've never before experienced. Feels like I can hit as hard as poss with the body. Sadly though this has put so much stress on my arms and wrists I've finished up with Tendonitis in my right forearm. Agony. Probobly out of golf for several months. Damn!

Great video AMG! I heard you say something about a screwdriver the other day (left hand loosening a screw). So simple but highly effective. The other thought that has worked for me was pretending I was twisting the water out of a towel with my right hand on the downswing (clockwise for a right-handed golfer). So many pros do this move at the top of their backswing when they start down. I always wonder if the pros were taught this at an early age or if a lot of them were lucky enough to do it naturally. I wish I could've had this lesson at the age of 5.

It's amazing how the smallest things make the biggest differences. I've made a lot of progress in the last couple of years with your help. But lately, I've unfortunately started to regress. Complacency, I suppose. But coming back to this gem really sorted me out today. I felt like I really had control of the face again. It's so easy for me to let my right hand take over. Which can work for a little while. But ultimately, I'm convinced that this is the right way for me to go. Thanks again, AMG 🫡

For the "beep beep" challenge I got "Sqa th", short for sqare the club face,, LOL! That's really fast! No wonder I cant hit it like Tiger, ha ha, the absolute fastest swing I ever witnessed in person (2000-2002)! I always wondered where the dreaded shanks came from and now I get it. Shanks a lot guys! Excellent instruction as always.

My thought was 'rotate left wrist' (to square the face). The first time I tried I got as far as "Rotate le" and just laughed out loud LOL. So I tried several more times and actually got to the point where I almost completed visualising the move before the second beep, but that meant I still needed to start and finish the downswing so I'll need another 0.23 seconds please 😊

What would be your proposal on a golf grip, especially for the right hand. Rather neutral to weak? Most pro's would tell me to have a strong right hand, to grip it from underneath the golf club to promote a draw and work against a slice. Maybe because of forearm rotation !? But does this not prevents me to have this nice compression feeling with the right hand and to cover the ball as you would say? Nice vid btw !! :-)

Can my club face be too closed throughout the swing a la DJ? I guess I'm answering my own question, but I'm an amateur, and don't know if that makes sense for me or if I lose power by keeping the club face more closed throughout my swing. It does make club face control a whole lot easier.

The face open number is relative to the target line though, so with 110 degrees of body/hips turn his face is about 10 degrees open in reality which is due to forearm rotation independent of the body/hips. Is that correct?
@AthleticMotionGolf
@AthleticMotionGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Not exactly because it’s not a true one-to-one of face to body. Have to take into account the arms/wrists as well. But even if it was, there would still be a 20-30 degree shortage.

Firstly, as an instructor, thank you for making our lives easier with material to send students too! Secondly, it's funny how feel-wise this is so opposite end of the spectrum of "shallow the club and get it behind you", and yet the hips just naturally get into that range of 20-45 open at impact

When you show the degrees of open from the top, does that mean open to the swing arc or open to target line? If it’s just the target line then one doesn’t need to have the same forced rate of closure that is being implied, as swinging the club through will square it mostly.
@AthleticMotionGolf

Good stuff, as usual. My nickname is Hooker because I get to the bottom, stall and flip with a tight right hand grip. I’m recovering from hip replacement and have been practicing in my basement with my right hand thumb and forefinger making a big “O” not touching the grip. Club stays behind the hand, better rotation, better contact. Not sure if I can play it this way but anxious to see what happens (-19 degree wind chill and 6 inches of snow so it may be a few days.

Sometimes that requires more thought and effort, but that’s all part of becoming a better golfer.
