Making shots is not always the answer. If you have a bad defense, then yes, your offense better be perfect, and you better make shots. Minnesota wins with defense. The other night in Minnesota, game 6, at the half, Denver was 4 for 21 and Minnesota was 5 for 21 from three. Both teams were shooting very poorly. One team was playing high-level defense. Wolves were up 19pts although shooting the exact same as Denver. It's going to be hard to be a good defense when the 7ft 300lb center doesn't protect the rim at all. This forces Denvers offense to have to be perfect and 'make shots'.
@tzeege7 ай бұрын
@@weights250 So you're telling me that a guy who's top 5 in total steals, defensive rebounds and deflections in these playoffs, needs to be top 5 in blocks too? What you're describing is the best player in the NBA that never existed, considering that Jokic is also top 3 in total points (2nd), rebounds (1st) and assists (3rd). Minnesota's defense is built to stop Denver's offense, not the other way around; with 4xDPOY big man leading the charge. Expecting Denver to have that level of defense is just disingenuous. Edit: T-Wolves averaged 103 points per game vs the Nuggets, I wouldn't call that defense "bad." The Suns are a bad defensive team, with Wolves scoring 118 ppg...

@cobrachannel1007 ай бұрын
MPJ is not the problem. Those "fans" are crazy to put the blame on him. They had 3-2 advantage him averaging 4 pts. They failed with killer instinct in this game 7. They had it in the bag but decided to shoot dumb 3s and make stupid passes that lead to turnovers and easy buckets for Minn. MPJ played well on D and rebounding. Made some shots too. If anything, AG wasnt involved and KCP played rather poorly. Off the bench, Holiday should have perhaps be given more looks. I blame mostly Joker and Murray for trying that two man game too much which Minn has figured out. Instead, they should have tried generating more open looks for MPJ, KCP, etc. IMHO.
@scooterk57 ай бұрын
The main fault in the Nuggets’ lack of depth was actually some poor summers during the Connelly era - specifically in 2017 when they traded the draft rights to D. Mitchell for Lyles and Lydon, drafting Nnaji and Hyland in 20 and 21, and doing a pretty bad job of identifying and signing the really good undrafted free agents (Reid, Robinson, Strus, Reaves, Caruso, Finney-Smith, Dort, McConnell, Jones Jr, Alvarado, Eubanks, O’Neil, Kleber, C. Martin, Boucher, Landale, Hauser etc.), some of whom are available every year. This past year was a bad one for the FO but their options (other than trading rather than re-signing Nnaji) were limited.

Lesson that i learned long time ago. Never take the foot off the gas. They were in control, Ant looked lost and shaken up when they were up 20. And then, all of the sudden, Nuggs relaxed and started taking unnecessary 3s and other dumb shots, turnovers that lead to quick and easy buckets for Minn. Just cant do it. That gave them life and confidence. Not to mention, Denver then also resulted into playing worse D. Fouling unnecessary and other blown assignments on D. Thus, their bad O then lead to poor D. And then, in the end, they had no killer instinct. Nobody could stop the bleeding. That is concerning and disappointing. Cant collapse like that at home and having a 3 time MVP and Murray. IMHO, Murray and Jokic both failed to involve KCP, AG, MPJ in this game. Not to mention they couldnt step up and stop the bleeding when the lead started to melt. Pathetic.

Simply Nuggets lost their version of Naz Reid and Alexander Walker in Bruce Brown and Jeff green. Outside of Jokic and Murray nuggets dont hsve anyone that can beat defense with a dribble. Watson and Braun and limited offensively. Starting 5 played heavy minutes. Jokič played 47 minutes. He didnt rebound him and Gordon. They need back up big and scorer off the bench or combo guard. Minesota was better and deeper team. And they showed thst tonight when Edvards didnt have his best game. Its hard to repeat. Spurs were dynasty and never won back to bsck. Minesota is for me now the favourite. And they will also be better. Nuggets need to retool their bench to rest a starting 5 in very important games. Looking forward to mext season. Looks like last year really was a fluke, theres no way we get even a crack at another title with OKC and Minnesota only going to get better, San Antonio adding to Wemby and the LA teams always get whoever they want and Jokic will start declining as well as he is at the age where bigs fall off a cliff. Window is shut, time to look at selling off as many pieces as possible to get future assets and picks.

A fluke or not how many teams would love that "fluke"? Crazy talk!

It wasn't a fluke, last year's team had a deeper bench. This year's team didn't.

Agree with Adam's take. The coach never put faith in development of young players off the bench. What happened to Julian Strawther minutes? Why didn't they try to develop other young guys? They spent alot of energy in March and April in the battle for seeding. They seemed flat, tired and past your peak for the playoffs. Kudos that MPJ played so many games this year but at the price of being to worked and emotionally flat for the playoffs.

MPJ really disappointed this postseason.Guys just didn't have it locked in unfortunately 😔

There needs to be a stepping back from the Tim Connely talk. He didn’t FULLY put that team together and already had multiple pieces in place before his arrival, and the nuggets literally won a championship. There needs to be more data before they start talking abt a “last laugh” or poor reflection. It’s 1-1 atm and the wolves haven’t even WON the chip yet. Right now the nuggets top to bottom need to reflect upon themselves before they think abt Tim getting his lick back
@GFD6187 ай бұрын
The nepo baby should’ve paid Connelly whatever he wanted. Twolves gave him 5yrs 40 mil and our counter offer wasn’t even close? That’s pathetic. Calvin is going to run this team into the ground with his approach. Tim is the best GM in the game today
@GFD6187 ай бұрын
No wonder Arsenal fans despise Josh Kroenke. Calvin got lucky once with the team Tim built. OKC and Minnesota are only going to get better with the teams they already have. Zeke needs to go immediately

@@GFD618 lol wtf. tim made so many mistakes, and wasnt close to a title before booth came on. even jokic wasnt tims pick, but karnisovas! tim did two things well, picked jamal 7th and traded for gordon, other than that, sooo many bad takes, i mean he could have picked anunoby or spida in '17? horrendous trades, and many other picks and trades were bad. even now with the twolves - if they dont win it this year, what then? they will need to break the core real soon, and they got no 1st round picks for the foreseeable future. lets see how the bet for gobert turns out

Thanks for putting your game faces on and doing this losers lounge. I needed this episode. Not the end of the world, but man what a tough loss. Looking forward to being underdogs again next season, being favorites just doesn't fit this franchise. Looking forward to all the off season coverage! Go Nugs!

The former champs can regroup. However, they need to address their bench and maybe look at even the starters with the exception of Joker, Gordon, and Murray. I think the Nuggets either need to develop their youth or put in a bench of playable veterans like they had with Uncle Jeff and Bruce Brown.

If MPJ is still on the roster next year, I won’t be able to take Calvin Booth seriously anymore. Trade Mike, get a bag for him & upgrade your bench. Get a freaking proper big to spell Jokic. Someone who can actually contribute. You’re wearing out your best player otherwise & this was proven just now. Once Mike is gone, either replace him with an Alex Caruso type of two way player. Imagine KCP & Caruso on the same squad. Jules could even be inserted into Mike’s spot. Many options. Face it, MPJ stans, they cannot upgrade the roster otherwise, with their salary cap situation.

The segment on Tim Connelly sounds so entitled from you guys..Would Tim Connelly have won a championship with the Nuggets the way he was running things towards the end of his tenure? Maybe? I personally doubt it but only God knows. Has he won a title since? Not yet. Was it a bad look on Tim when the Nuggets beat the Wolves in 5 last year (without McDaniels and Reid tbf)? Has Calvin Booth made adjustments (not small like you seem to think/insinuate) that helped the Nuggets win a championship yet? Yes. Calvin Booth did have his failures this year but the way you're wording things makes it sound like he didn't do anything but the mistakes he made this year. While this season/playoff run being a failure is due to the Nuggets having won a championship already

Unpopular opinion: KCP and AG are becoming too old for the levels of effort and physicality that are expected from them.
