I think the problem with kameos is that a lot of characters don't feel fleshed out and are too dependent on kameos to be good. It's just the same combo routes with some characters because they don't have enough combos in general. I mean just look at how many combos each character gets in Tekken 8. Maybe NRS thought adding kameos meant they were allowed to just make basic characters

I mean it’s the same with tekken and street fighter it’s literally the same game from 12 years ago. Same moves but they added a new thing called heat mode or whatever. Mk had always been the more creative of all the games. Street fighters is just spammers low kick low punch same combos and moves they had 20 years ago. Jump kick/puch - low lick/punch jab jab repeats grab grab drive parry… the Problem with mk is some characters need more buttons they seem totally dependent on the khameos. Like why tf did they make the game so unbalanced. Buff all the charters to where they are all solid without kameos. It’s like they don’t even care cuz it’s not like the game mechanics are the problem or the visual effects. It’s the balance of the dam characters, why tf don’t they listen to the pro gamers. I’m pissed cuz I already spend $100 on this game I wish I didn’t because I can’t stand this game anymore. Seemed so promising wheh it first came out .

I wholeheartedly agree with your take in this video. You can see the amount of detail nrs put into mk11 when compared to mk1. Mk11 honestly was damn near perfect the first few patches after its release. It had its flaws afterwards, but was still playable. Mk1's kameo system, like you said, is simply not liked by many. The idea was good but they simply didn't have the right dev team to incorporate that into the game in my opinion resulting in major flaws to the game. Im a competitive player, meaning want the fighting system to make sense. For example, if you block my plus string and its still my turn where i can poke you, you shouldn't be able to override a grab when my character is clearly poking or hitting you with a low attack. The hit boxes in mk1 is the worse I've ever seen in nrs history. Inputs still won't come out at certain times but its not as bad as it was upon release. In a nut shell, mk1 has too many unnecessary flaws within the fighting system to where you really can't play this competitively. Mk1 was a money grab and sold us a half ass incomplete game. They clearly do not respect the fans.

The kameo system wasn’t necessarily a bad idea. However, I just don’t like the fact that my character HAS to depend on the kameo for combo potential. If anything I think it should be a compliment the system that was already in play. I also think that the running was the best feature they could have added to MK. Being able to sprint really allowed you to put some serious pressure on your opponent which was fun. I guess that’s why MKX was my favorite.

I agree with what you said that they had the formula for a perfect game. The jump from MKX to MK11 was amazing. The graphics improved, trailers were awesome, customization was great and the roster featured some fan favorites like Noob, Kabal and Skarlet. They literally just needed to build on that, but they decided to add Kameos which sound amazing on paper but in reality, less than half of them work with every character on the roster. Majority of Kameos, as you said, only work with specific playstyles and characters. MK1 is still a good game, the graphics are dope, and the roster is great so far and I really want it to succeed but yeah.....agree with you that a 2v2 + no Kameo mode would definitely bring more players in !

People don’t like the Kameo system (I couldn’t tell you why but something about expression which is funny considering a majority of players get their “expression” from watching how other people play) so it’s quite the detractor for many people. In a competitive sense MK just came off of Final Kombat and their own tour so they may be burnt out. EVO ain’t even on the circuit so there ain’t even an incentive for that. What’s funny is somehow trying to juxtapose the success or reception of the Mortal Kombat series with its competitive health. These two things are simply not related and misrepresent the “health” of the game. MK still a top seller and understands the actual audience that keeps it afloat. There’s a lot of metrics that even bar MK from being more “esports friendly” and the crazy thing is if NRS went into that direction I.e toning down the presentation and gore of the game then we would be having the “NRS and esport culture ruined MK” conversation. For the many people that exist on this platform that love to talk about MK as the backbone of their channel, their absence from anything competitive or even contributing useful information towards the community makes it quite obvious that they’re just grifters at the highest level. Can NRS do a better job with their competitive support? Yes.Can this game be improved? Yes. Can all you Content Creators do is bitch? Looks like it. The MK is dying narrative is so overused and baseless too. The game is still a top seller on PlayStation 9 months into its release. If that makes it dead, then how would you define SF6 and Tekken which are not on this list? The FGC is too broad for us to just make EVO the first and final frontier. Countless communities exist for Competitive MK streams and as a franchise there’s a lot more going for MK than other fighting games. Movies, animated films, comics and other pursuits keeps Mortal Kombat more culturally relevant in that sense. However, thrashing MK brings the views so hey can’t knock the hustle.

You would be familiar with the sentiment of cope since you basically went on a whole campaign of trying to bring MK11 content across as better than MK1 when attempting to be flagrant about this game. Everyone is quick to look at no diversity in picks at the competitive level as if that is not a common occurrence across all games in the FGC. Can’t wait to see Chun Li and Yang top 8 in two weeks time for Third Strike aka The most perfect fighting game made. This game had a rough launch with many missing features. Some have been added and I’m pretty sure the possibility for more features are very real. If SFV could make a turn around I see no reason for this constant dooming not even one year into the life of the game. You used to actually make good content, sad to see how you’ve fallen.

In MKX It Was Scorpion Who Taught Him How To Fight. As Far As The Game Goes For Me Its Hella Fun I Put In 836 Hours On The Game Already. I Think The Kameo System Is A Good Idea But Its Not Flushed Out Good Enough I Feel Like It Need More Then Just Kameos Too Like A Tag Team Would Be Soo Dope Say You Have Like 2 Health Bars. Here's the REAL problem. The game is fun. But you have to show causals how to play the game. Instead of guiding casuals toward fun game play, e.g. learning neutral and being less concerned with combos many content creators jumped on the, "MK1 is dead" bandwagon. Now all the casuals have bought into that and none have showed up to EVO. Only the hard core guys.
