Chargers must start understanding the importance of a first rate placekicker. If they had drafted Evan McPherson in the third round instead of letting him fall to Bengals in the 5th, they not Cincy would be headed to AFC Championship Game. They have for far too long underestimated the importance of the special teams. That is something that must absolutely be corrected if team is to ever achieve its goal of winning a Super Bowl. Kyzir White has to be resigned for L.A. to become a perennially elite team. Players now want to come to team due to move to L.A. and SoFi. Sorry, but that was never gonna happen if team remained in San Diego. Outdated stadium and softest fan base in the entire NFL is all San Diego could offer. Chargers should have left San Diego after 2003 season when they were first able to. It was simply never gonna work down there. Dean Spanos stayed 15 years too long and all he got for his efforts was constant ridicule. BTW, it was the NFL not Spanos that finally demanded the Chargers relocate north after the league determined there was no way for the Chargers to ever be successful in San Diego in view of the overwhelming defeat of the ballot initiative that would have provided public funding for the proposed new stadium. That initiative had to pass by a 2/3 rds majority per California law. It lost straight up by 15 points. The citizenry of San Diego spoke loud and clear with that vote. They told the Chargers to hit the road and don’t come back, no more. Still Spanos tried to persist in finding a way to stay but in the beginning of 2017 the NFL demanded that he relocate to L.A. Trying to remain in S.D. was like “beating a dead horse”. It was time to move forward and Spanos reluctantly agreed. Now, he can finally see how right the league was in its insistence. The Chargers have gone from, perhaps, the team with the lowest profile in the NFL to being, somewhat, in the middle. The best way to check how overall popular a team is, is to look at how many KZbin subscribers it has. The Chargers are 16th, currently 98.7 k. Dallas is first, which should come as no surprise to anyone. Cleveland, New England, San Francisco and Las Vegas round out the top five. They are a few surprises, most notably the Packers, who have way less subscribers than you might expect. Green Bay has less subscribers than the Chargers and that really is surprising. Guess the Packers are not as popular as we all thought. Rams, despite being a better team than the Chargers, have more than 30 thousand less subscribers, currently only 67k. No wonder when the Niners come to SoFi to play the Rams, their fans take over the stadium. Every team has a KZbin channel and it pretty much reflects the popularity of that team. The more popular a team is, the higher its profile. Simple as that.
