It is true. But the funny thing is that when Takeru is drowning in the episode that Ikkakumon digivolve, Patamon is helpless and closing his eyes. Patamon must have great discernment that Takeru won’t drown for sure and Ikkakumon will digivolve. I was wondering, Patamon could have just easily digivolve to save Takeru from drowning. That episode is really made for Joe and Zudomon.

When making this episode the animators surely thought: Oh, Angemon's digivolution will overshadow everything else, so we don't have to care so much. One time piedmon climbs up the rope only to be on ground again after a few millseconds and the other time when Magnaangemon strikes him on the balcony he still manages to fall of said balcony. But, damn ! Seems like they planned it right - T.K.'s speech and Angemon truly made me ignore those things, be in the past or even now
