Not really. If a normal Muslim is supposed to know the difference between iman and kufr to decide which to follow and which not to follow, then it should be pretty simple to decide when you see someone else do or say something that shows whether they're a believer or a kaffir. You can judge by the apparent according to Umar RA. And we should do that.

No and it is because of the hadith I quoted. Umar RA was an expert in Fiqh we are not. Do you know that the Ottomans were labelled Kafirs by the Wahhabis and the Wahhabis then committed several massacres after that. Do you know that the Kharijis labelled the Companions RA as kafirs? Do you think these matters are so easy? If so then you are not aware of our history and how much damage this has caused.

@@dr.muhammadadeel yes, Umar RA was an expert in Fiqh, so if he made the observation that we can judge by what is apparent then we can judge by what is apparent. Being an expert, he wouldn't have made an observation he knew we shouldn't be following. The difference between judging a _group_ of people as in the examples you've given vs judging an individual is pretty obvious. The Kharijis are an obviously bad example because they targeted the Sahaba, even the munafiqoon among them weren't exposed by the Prophet ﷺ. As for Wahhabis and Ottomans, like I said, there's an obvious problem judging what's apparent in a group, more importantly a political group, of kufr.

@@SabeerAbdulla Not sure what your premise is here. If you accept that Umar RA was an expert then there's no comparison between us and him. Even if we make a judgement our judgement has little to no value. Calling a group kafir is an even serious matter because historically the Kharijis and the Wahhabis have started killing people using this. Again, this is a matter that should be left to the highest authority, not individuals.

@@abrahamsasa3439 No. I dont think we should call him a kafir. There should be a committee of scholars from all around the world from different schools of thought who should form a committee and make such statements. I dont think individuals have the right to do so. I think he is not part of Ahl us Sunnah anymore but I would not go far enough to call him a kafir.
