Did not The sahabas torture and kill ? Even though they did not kill cats.. subhanallah. This is what happens when you live amongst the mushrikeen. So he sent them to Al-Harra with some she-camels of his and said, "Drink of their milk." But when they became healthy, they killed the shepherd of the Prophet (ﷺ) and drove away his camels. The Prophet (ﷺ) sent some people in their pursuit. Then he got their hands and feet cut and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron. I saw one of them licking the earth with his tongue till he died. Sahih Al-Bukhari 5685. and sahih Al-Bukhari 5686 So cutting of their hands and feet and plucking branding their eyes with heating iron is not turture ? all this while they are alive, dying of thirst or blood loss !! Not torture.. So brother yes both mohammed (saw) and sahabas and tabein, tabe-tabein etc etc we have much proof for treatment of what we today would call torture. I say this in favor of Islam, not against, as it was done to those who deserved it. But using the eyes of todays lenses this is torture indeed.

Hisham ibn Hakim passed by some people in Syria who had been made to stand in the sun and had oil poured over their heads. He asked, “What is this?” It was said, “They are being punished for not paying taxes.” Hisham said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ فِي الدُّنْيَا Verily, Allah will torture those who torture people in this world. Source: Sahih Muslim 2613, Grade: sahih Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: وَلاَ تُعَذِّبُوا خَلْقَ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ Do not torture the creation of Allah the Exalted. Source: Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 188, Grade: Sahih There is a difference between torture, and the fixed Islamic legal penalties. The prophet applied legal punishment against murtads but he has not commanded torture against kufaar combatants and there are many proofs for this

It is torture indeed, but it is not defined Islamically as torture as it is a punishment for another crime, but in practice it is torture by its definition. So we have to understand the texts we read not just read texts. what is torture, inflicting pain to someone else without the need to inflict pain. So If the sahabas just killed them quick, this would not be torture, but to let them die of bloodloss and thirst with hands and feet cut of and eyes branded with heated iron in the desert, this is torture upon torture, So therefor we need to understand the texts we read. This hadith you sent . Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: وَلاَ تُعَذِّبُوا خَلْقَ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ Do not torture the creation of Allah the Exalted. Source: Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 188, Grade: Sahih looking at this hadith and then the sahih hadith i sent you where Mohammed ordered the sahabas to do what they did "Torture" proove we can not understand the hadith you gave the way you understood it. explanation is the hadfith before this.. "Verily, Allah will torture those who torture people in this world." So this is the proof for him torturing these people ands also proof for torture to those who deserve it ! It simply prooved my point.. You wrote "he has not commanded torture against kufaar combatants" Yes i agree, but it depends on thew situation as there are also proof for torture on those fighting the muslims. And with fighting them uslims it is not merly in the battle field, it is meant ALL those opposing Islam with bad words and hostility. 2 woman were known to sing poetry against Mohammed (SAW, and their husband, Mohammed (SAW) ordered the 2 woman to be killed and they killed their husbnad when he was hanging on the the fabric of the kaaba ! So again texts are to be understood by the surrounding reality of the life of Mohammed (SAW) not simply byt reading a text that is not in contrast to the the life of the salaf. This simply means the texts are not understood correctly or twisted to the liking of those who follow the west.

@@larsstahl7720 can you precede the name of the prophet with his undeniable rightful title For example Rasulullah, or Nabi Mohamed Secondly you are not allowed to call any of the hadd punishment carried out by the prophet as torture. So again I repeat the prophet executed apostates NOT TORTURED and the apostates deserved such punishment in this befitting manner because of their great mischief. But that doesn't mean you can torture or mutilate a kaafir in the battlefield or outside of the battlefield. This religion is not based upon pure emotions of few misguided individuals so take the ahaadith you are given as they were understood by the sahabas
