Same here! Trail rides on my Appaloosa were glorious! We’d pack picnic lunches and spend the day. The boarding stable where we boarded had a back gate that gave us direct access to the equestrian trails. There were three, sometimes four of us, and we’d go from early morning to late afternoon… trails were similar to these with wooded areas..creeks…and nice open meadows. This video transports me back… I so appreciate that. Those years were the best years of my life ♥♥♥

Oh my goodness. Thank you Shae for taking the time to record these trail rides and then the time it takes to edit them. My destroyed back doesn't allow me to ride anymore and I miss every day. Especially being able to take my horse out to our pastures and trails and letting her just run as fast or as slow as she wanted to go. I miss doing the endurance trainings. I don't miss the amount of money that was spent, but I do miss the ride. And my horse. So I for one love when you take us along for the ride. When you said, "Close your eyes and duck!" I may have actually done that. No one was around to see if it happened, so I can neither confirm nor deny if this happened. Lol Seriously though, there was no greater feeling than the bond I had with my horse and the trust I had with her. The freedom of riding her and feeling like I was flying, especially doing the endurance trail jumps, the best feeling though was riding bareback and being able to feel how powerful her muscles were as she walked, trotted, cantered and ran. It was a feeling that was unmatched. So I say thank you. Thank you for your videos, thank you for saving these horses and the attention to detail that you put into their training and then into their rehoming. You are doing excellent work, you found your calling, don't forget that. Don't let anyone tell you different! Much love to you, Kyle and the whole team that makes Free Spirit Equestrian run. ❤❤😘😘 🕊️❤️🕯️

Shae! Fellow trail rider here, and I have to share a trail game with you that I used to play with my friends. The leader takes a stick and sets it on a branch or bush next to the trail as they ride by. The next person in the trail line grabs the stick and sets it on another branch or bush, and this goes on down the line until the last person manages to grab the stick. If it's dropped or falls you have to start all over again from the beginning. See how many times you can get the stick to the end person!

Been enjoying your videos for awhile now but this one hit home! Grew up training, showing, riding horses and we would trail ride every day for hours! We had permission to ride through all the neighbors farms as long as we were sure to close the gates behind us…we actually rode through an area that was the sight of Indian burial grounds with the mounds 3-4’ high on both sides of the trail…this neighbor had a list of people he would contact in the spring when he would plow his fields…they’d find all kinds of Indian artifacts including arrowheads! There was a state marker along one of the trails as it was a Indian/settler battle sight! So cool 😎 ( can you imagine…in NY where I grew up!) At 14:15 in your video you crossed an unpaved road…we had one too called Sax road…the horses knew when we’d get close as we’d let them go and we’d race full out on that road…The horses ❤ it!!! This video was like I was riding back in time!!! Thank you sooo much!!!!

I had my horse escape one time into a river with no halter on. She escaped from her field, went down the boat launch, and went into the Rideau River. I grabbed a soft rope, got ahead of her by three farms, and asked the farmer if I could get into the river from his property to get my horse. He looked at me like I was crazy!! But he allowed me to jump in the river. As I swam up to her, I had fashioned a rope halter/bridle for her, I got on her and rode her to the next farm, where my gf was waiting for me. She had gotten permission from that farmer to let me come out of the river on his land. Now I'm miles by road from where she's supposed to be. I'm soaked and saying to myself, "Thank goodness it's July, and the temperature is 92 F!" My gf asked me what I was going to do now, and I told her the only thing I could do is ride her home. And that's exactly what I did!! I rode her the 3 miles home, with my gf following with her emergency flashers on behind us. She stayed on the side of the road, the shoulder, where I was riding. People going by us were very kind. They saw the emergency flashers going, saw me on the horse bareback and only using a rope halter, and every single driver slowed down as they passed us. I was so grateful for my gf for doing that, that I took her out to dinner the next night as a huge thank you!! I also asked the owners of the property where I was boarding her to please make sure that that gate was closed and locked so that it didn't happen again. I would hate to think what would have happened if it had happened in the wintertime!! It's too scary a thought for me!! Best Regards, Shea, from your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 💖🇨🇦🇺🇲

Years ago, when I was in stabbles a lot, I remember one time riding when I rode alone on the roads. I was not particularly familiar with the horse. A garbage truck came at high speed. I prepared to hold cause "now we go and fast". The horse didn't care, continued with sure steps. It was a 5-year-old stallion named Bittersweet Battsman. A fine horse whose trotting career was not successful, but became a good hobby horse. One of the coolest horse I have met.
