Guitar Center is the only major guitar store in my town since Sam Ash shut down. Unfortunately I have not had very good experiences there. The service is very poor. On one occasion I wanted to see a Gibson guitar that was hanging high on the wall. I was prepared to buy it but wanted to play it first. Tried for 45 minutes to get help. Finally a sales guy told me he was too busy to get the guitar down for me, so I walked out and bought a guitar elsewhere. Now they even have the guitar straps locked up and you have to ask for help to buy one. Every time I go in there I stand in line for ever to pay for something while they have one register open and fifteen people walking around doing nothing. Sorry just venting.

@@firebellyK I go to Guitar Center in Brookfield, Wisconsin. They have treated me decently for almost two decades. The whole time I’ve shopped there and they consistently treat me with respect. The help is good. They carry on a great conversation with me quite a bit. And they don’t have to worry. I buy from them when I can. And other stores besides GC. But I only wish I could play more than I do. But they don’t give me any grief about my wannabe status.😆Just good people. The turnover of their help is not too bad either. They had to laugh about how darn much I bought in 2020-2022! It was crazy! They were a little concerned that I might have been going through a time. 😆But it’s all good.

I only go to GC to try things out, I never buy guitars there. I may buy a pedal or something but that’s it. My local music shop is still around, but they’ve drastically cut down on what they sold, they used to have a respectful showroom with lots of acoustics and electrics, with drums and other things as well.

I bought a preowned Gibson Explorer from GC. While I was looking it over I checked the truss rod and verified it worked and wasn’t out of wack and the GC sales guys all asked me where the truss rod was and how to test it.

@scottwood3235 They have all contributed. Now Kirk has contributed. He uses it live. Records with it. Etc.... Perhaps there will be more famous owners, each making the guitar more famous than before. Perhaps even the next owner (if there is one) will have a signature model. And then people will be arguing that Peter, Gary, and Kirk made it famous, and not the new owner. We all have players we like. At the end of the day the new Greeny models are Kirk Hammett signature models called Greeny. There will never be another 1st Greeny. But the reality is Kirk owns that guitar now, and he has put his mark on it.

I live in upstate N.Y. and bought 3 guitars from the Syracuse Guitar Center. They have a great staff there and have always given me great deals and service there. I bought a Schecter C-1 platinum, a Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro in KOA wood, and I BreedLove Concerta in Mahogany electric acoustic... I always had them check the set up of each of these guitars and they actually tested for correct intonation, string height, neck warp, fret sprout, and that all the electronics were working properly before I left the store. Great video...

I wish I could say that the Guitar Center I went to last was a great place. Inventory was low, there was trash on the floor, part of someone's uneaten lunch sitting on a keyboard, filthy bathroom and when I wanted help to get a guitar down I could not get anyone to come over. After about 10 minutes, I left. My wife who was shopping next door asked me why I was back so soon, it usually takes me at least a half hour or more anytime I go into a music store.

That is a stunning guitar! I loved my Gibson SG, and I also love my chibsons. People just do not understand the quality guitars that are coming out of China these days. That guitar that you have there, I wonder if some of the actual Epiphone employees worked on it..😂 I think my next one is going to be a Randi Rhodes. I don't know what it is about that guitar but I love it. It reminds me of my yellow Pontiac Firebird I had in the 70s.

Interesting video, the staff at your local Guitar Center seem very gracious, open minded and respectful. It is after all a business that wants customers to feel like coming in to buy musical instruments and gear. Now here's my opinion, which may not carry much weight but here it is. I have owned many guitars over 50+ years of playing (I'm almost 65 years old), anything from great 70's Ibanez guitars, early BC Rich's, Fender Custom Shop stuff and many, many less expensive (pronounced cheap) guitars. Much of the cheap stuff was born of my budget. I replaced pickups, tweeked necks and bridges, all the stuff one might do to make a cheap guitar "better". So about 6 months ago and because I had the money I bought a 2005 Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded 60's that was naturally aged by whom-ever over 20 years of use and the difference is like night and day. I still fooled around a bit with some adjustments and I did add nickel pickup covers to the zebra Burst Bucker Pros that came on the guitar but the overall difference is truly amazing. I spent around $2K for this guitar and I should have saved up some cash and done this years ago. I still own and play some lesser expense guitars including an Epiphone LP, a MIM Strat and also a Harley-Benton SG Jr, none of which compare to the LP Standard. When/if you can get the chance to find the right genuine Gibson Les Paul for you, do it. You likely will not regret it. Thanks for posting this video, it was interesting to watch!

I have a PRS that is a stamped 10 top, which means at the factory, they chose the wood for the body from their special stocks, it has that same kind of wood your Les Paul has, figured maple... in the sun you can look 'into ' it and it is absolutely 3D cool!

I would not put a lot into into how GC sales staff act when a customer brings a guitar in to show off -- not sell, not to have appraised, not to trade. You were also asking leading questions which suggested the right answer for them was this guitar is so much more. Cue over-the-top praise. I watch GC guys turn up the sweetness a lot with customers. They do it to me too. It is also really hard to get a sense of a guitar in a moment as someone stands there asking leading questions with a video running. You would be lucky to get one honest sentence. If you did that to me, I would say what I think you want to hear and keep things really positive. I would not even necessarily be lying because it is easy to pick up a guitar with $200 price tag and think, in the moment as a video records you, Wow, this is as good as those Custom Shops, when it really is not and you would know that after spending quality time with both. Still, your guitar probably is worth the $600 you paid since you seem to have owned a lot of guitars. So congrats! Always good to love your own gear!

It is kinda unnerving. I have to admit 😄. Actually, the whole build process and the wait for it was also unnerving. It even got shipped to the wrong address in the wrong state. I got lucky that the guy who got it was honest and sent it to me. Luckily, the shipper reimbursed him for the cost. It's a beautiful, amazing guitar. But I don't think I will order any more custom builds. The stress is too much, and I'm not what you would call a patient person. Lol.

Im a diehard guitar 🎸 lover of all string axes,and ive bought Wylde Audio Blood Eagle, Warhammer,OdinGrail,few others, Ibanez vai jem 555 and 777 jem and universe models,6+7 strings, to some Shecter Synister gates models i put his sig old and new pickups in! And they are shredders,some say yeah they look and sound good,but never go up n value? Not true.. remember something is only as valuable as someone is willing to pay for it! I have the JHS/Vintage brand Greeny Tribute model. It even has the holes added for when Gary Moore replaced the tuners. The neck is very thin very loud output cost me $400CDN I believe it was modelled prior to Gary selling it. The best ever session this guitar was used is a BBC session of "Still in Love With You" recorded in that very short period Moore was in Lizzy 73/74 kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIbKkIV8a7tse6M IMHO the original Greeny sounds best in a moderately clean Fender or similar. Sure Gary recorded Parisienne Walkways with it, but if it gets overly saturated the reverse pick up loses its distinctive tone and it sounds like any other LP of this vintage

I know someone that paid $2500 for used gold top Les Paul at Guitar center & it was FAKE. They didn't want to believe me that they got ripped off buying from there, & I showed them the 4mm allen wrench truss rod & the cheap electronics & convinced them to return it, it didn't have a serial number on it either.

half of my guitars are from aliexpress and are made realy well thew a couple have a few cosmetic flaws but not realy noticeble unless you look really close i always have no logo on the headstock to advoid having it seized from countems and a few other things but like i said really well built

Hey bro, I happened to be watching a Scar my Guitar video & Shawn mentioned a guitar that I had never heard of. A Bullfighter guitar from amazon. I tried to look it, but I could not find the exact model, but I saw a cool looking single cut & it was the last one. Fearing that maybe it was a return, I passed on it...Some time passed & I woke up & turned on yt & I saw the same Scar my guitar video so I picked up my phone & tried to find it again & there was that same bullfightet single cut so, I bought the last one on Amazon & man am I GLAD I DID! It is a Bullfighter D-120 red. For $150.00 I thought it would be junk. It has a flip open truss rod cover. Very low action. It has replaced all my other guitars (22) to be exact. Maybe part of me wanted to defeat this guitar or see what I could break. It's turning out to be a fantastic guitar. China has got there stuff together! It has a Bullfighter logo on the headstock. Doesn't claim to be anything more! I like it. I do want a Cathy Zhong guitar as well...

A customized china made guitar that is as good as an epi ? Why is that a surprised ? There are no chinese basket players that play like LeBron James. But there are manyyyyyyyyy chinese workers that are able to build guitars like John and Jane Doe in Kalamazoo. Guitars are simple builds and any skilled workers anywhere in the world with the right materials and tools will replicate it exactly. We just need to remember that Japan made the "USA made" Fenders in the early 80's. In here we got an "Epi"... even easier. For decades that we know that big brand prices mean nothing.

There are factories in Japan where they built much better quality than in USA. All the Gretch guitars With prices above 4000 Dollars for Nashville / Setzer guitars are from there ( ordered by Fender ). The most Cars in the world come from Japan, nothing from USA. Hypersonic weapons are from Russia and can easily nuke all USA, USA is not a high quality producer in the world. They buy everything from China. All the Pharma comes from China !!!!

Me and my friend ordered each custom made guitar from Cathy. They both looks great, but unfortunally they are not playable 🥺 My neck is not set in straight, and his neck is really "bowy" and can’t be straightened with the trussrod (+he ordered SS-frets, and it’s not)… So I’m really bummed, and really afraid to try again 🥺

It was not meant to fool them, It was meant to show that the Chinese can make good guitars, that are the same or better standards than Epiphone, A 1500.00 Epiphone has a certain standard. This was a social experiment to see if that standard would be met if the brain thinks its something else. The Epiphone is there to avoid a psychosomatic assumption. that the guitar is junk. Epiphone made a Kirk Hammett signature Greeny. They have a "real Epiphone Greeny hanging on the wall that they bought from they got from me. Usefull tid bit. The second guy knew it was a custom China build because he's seen it on the channel. So it didn't go as planned. Ironically, he still agreed it's on par with the Acutual Epiphone Greeny. And even better in some areas.
