If you want to see a textbook example of "a kid in a candy store", any Kirk Hammett interview talking about guitars is one of them. I love the fact that such an iconic instrument is now being played live on stages around the world. I do remember when I saw Metallica for the last time, and Kirk was playing Greeny. I turned to my buddies, in awe, and said "damn, he's playing Greeny". They couldn't care less, probably like 97% of the audience, but it sure meant a lot for the remaining 3%. Thank you Mr Hammett for keeping that legacy alive.

Nice to see that Kirk really appreciate the famous "Greeny" Les Paul guitar. I do not know if Kirk is still using the Fractal Audio's Axe-Fx II XL+ modeling preamp paired with a Matrix GT1000FX-1U power amp for his LIVE gigs with Metallica...I find that all of Kirk's guitars sound the same through that amp set-up, including Greeny...

I have loved the sound of this guitar for decades because of Green and Moore but never saw videos of them playing, so never knew about the out of phase thing. I just knew the guitar had great tone. Honestly, I am glad that Gibson made a big deal about the Hammett "Greeny" wish I could afford one and am even a bit tempted to buy the Epiphone one. If I see these for reasonable prices on the secondary market I cannot say I wouldn't buy one.

He clearly still knows that it's a ridiculous price, probably even for him. That said, he actually sounds to be getting value and worth out of it. In his position, it's so easy to just be jaded and non-caring about material things, and he found something that still can make him panic and shed a tear if it gets damaged, just like someone buying their first nice guitar feels. Meanwhile, he could probably get an entire garage full of ridiculous cars and not feel half that or have half as much enjoyment from it. Good purchase.

The guy absolutely adores the guitar and plays it regularly. So much better this way than a collector buying it and locking it away in a vault. When Peter Green went loco and faded into obscurity, part of his soul took residence in that axe. Too imagine all the stages, all the Fleetwood sessions that guitar has been on. I have listened to all the studio outtakes, and that guitar was there making amazing blues that was part of the English revival. Clapton was great, Moore was suberb.. But Green was something special to me. Its probably the only guitar i would love to own. I would give anything just to sit down with it and play it.I would not care about Page´s #1.. I would choose this.

But if it ever hits the market, there won't be an instrument, guitar or other, that reaches the $ amount the The Red Special will demand. All the other iconic guitars, The Gilmour Collection included, put together won't be as much as it will command. It will be in it's own classification.
