During his time, Paul Warfield was the most beloved Brownie. When Paul was traded to the Dolphins, he received 5 minute standing ovations when playing basketball that winter with the Browns charity team that went up against various local high school faculty teams. It was sweet justice when he caught the winning touchdown pass to beat the Browns in a game to keep the Dolphins 17-0 alive. Even better was getting him back.

He won a championship at Ohio State in 1961 and won a championship with the Browns in 1964. He was also on the only undefeated team in the Super Bowl era.

@@NigelIncubatorJones I met Paul Warfield back when I was in High School in 1980, when he visited my High School. He was wearing his undefeated Super Bowl Ring, that is the only Super Bowl Ring that I ever had a chance to see up close. Paul Warfield is my favorite Cleveland Brown of all-time, I even have a Paul Warfield #42 Cleveland Browns Jersey.

When you hear these stats for the old timers it's good to remember they were playing 12 or 14 game seasons. For Paul Warfield it was 14 games. I think they should show some of these tapes to young players on the team.

Paul Warfield was the best blocking wide receiver in the Hall of Fame. Why did you guys ignore that? Ask Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly.

I saw Leroy throw a pass in these highlights.

Maybe the greatest receiver to play the game. Unreal! and to think he played halfback in college. Freakish athleticism and probably one of the greatest blockers at the wideout. Unfortunate (or fortunate to play) with superior running games at Cleveland and Miami. Jimmy Brown, Ernie Green, Leroy Kelly, Larry Csonka, Jim Kiick, Mercury Morris were running backs. He was hardly thrown to. Could catch only 40 or 50 passes and still have 1000 yards receiving. Only HOF wideout to average over 20 yards a catch. OH! Did I mention that he was a beast as a blocker. Correct me if I'm wrong but they outlawed the "crackback block" because of Paul Warfield. I see him now adjusting his shoulder pads after he leveled a defensive player trying to make a play on the Cleveland Browns sweep. In my humble opinion Warfield was the greatest wide receiver to ever play this game!

I got a chance to meet Paul Warfield when I was in High School, he showed me his Super Bowl Ring that he won with the Dolphins when he went undefeated. That was the only ring he wore. I also got his autograph.

On the Browns Red Zone Doug Dieken once said that Josh Gordon was more talented or more athletic (or something like that), than Paul Warfield. Doug Dieken played with Warfield after Warfield was about to retire. Josh Gordon was a special talent but I don't think he was as gifted as Warfield. Warfield's moves were better, his speed was as good, his hands were as good, he ran patterns better, in my opinion. Josh Gordon was a great player but I think Dieken is wrong.
