Taking a quick pause to refocus the channel

This one is for the subscribers. After some soul searching, I've decided to readjust my approach to making videos.

I think the name of the channel is very good. More work on Mercedes Diesel cars would make the content much more interesting.. ;) W123, and older is what I like to watch.

Seeing your channel, there is a bit of everything... Bicycles, VW, Toyota, Mercedes, etc... It is usually best to concentrate on something in particular instead to have the channel going all over the place. For instance, someone interested in bicycles will not be interested in videos of Volvo, Mercedes, etc.... People that subscribe for videos of Volvo for instance will lose interest if they do not see more of these videos. Hope you understand what I am saying. Wishing you a happy new year

Fair point, for the most part. Really, the channel has always been about what I'm working on at the moment. There have been a small handful (probably less than ten) bicycle videos out of the hundreds of videos I've done over the years. Most are automotive. But even that is limited to what I'm driving and what the project is. Really, looking at the numbers. I think DIY videos and summary videos of completed projects are the way for me to go. Just focusing on one brand of cars just isn't a possibility for me.

Maybe you should create several channels. For instance, people that have a Volvo will not watch video about Mercedes or VW. Maybe you should concentrate your channels on a specific car and people will definitely watch. Just my view. Take care and success 👍

That would only worsen the issue, unfortunately. The problem at the core of this is not having the time I used to. No regrets here - it's mostly that I have kids running around and many other conflicting responsibilities as a result. That, as always, will take precedence.

My favorite videos you did, was when you you had the w123 Mercedes cars. I would recommend changing the name of your channel.

I'm always on the lookout for W123s. They're not easy to find around here (not what I expected in the south). A friend of mine seems to be the local hoarder of W123s. I agree, the name was never a great fit. It came from what I was interested in. I've had W123s back to my first car almost 30 years ago. When I picked the name and started the channel, I never expected or intended to do a lot on KZbin. The channel kind of took on a life of its own, as I mostly wrenched on Subarus in the early years of my content. I would be very reluctant to give up this username. My archived content would have a different name than the new channel name. But, also. This many years down the road, I fear it would be more difficult to pick out a new name that would be distinct. Plus, for what it's worth, I still like the channel name.

@@MercedesDieselGuy Up here in New England w123 are not easy and cheap to find anymore. The name of your channel would be perfect, for someone who only works on vintage diesels MB.

@vintage76vipergreenBeetle that's a big no. Hoarder is an exaggeration. He has a few. From a complete rust box so bad the body is flexing in places it shouldn't to a couple that are pretty pristine. Out of respect for his and his family's privacy, I wouldn't post anything. Besides, it really wouldn't be visually compelling.
