Well I will say that it never hurts to go OEM on these cars. However there is a big aftermarket as well as OE quality parts that are available for these cars. I typically get parts from FCPEuro for these cars. As a matter of fact the original factory in Milford, CT is about 40 minutes away from my house. I would say that you should definitely get an OE fuel pump for this car for sure. I think Bosch makes them for MB.

Hi, is this a job I can do from under the car with no lift? How heavy is this transmission? Also, did you need a pilot splined shaft to align the clutch disc before putting the pressure plate? Thanks
@MercedesDieselGuyАй бұрын
@@makingcookingfixing I did this job once, something like ten years ago. I had the car supported firmly on jackstands and used a transmission jack from Harbor Freight. I don't recall the transmission being all that heavy, BUT lifting it unassisted under a car is something completely different from moving it around the garage. I do remember using a clutch alignment tool when I reinstalled the new pressure plate. Hope this helps, but I'm understandably fuzzy on the details after all these years.
@makingcookingfixingАй бұрын
@@MercedesDieselGuy Thank you for your reply! Totally understand being fuzzy :-) wondering if I should tackle this myself or hand it out
@MercedesDieselGuyАй бұрын
@@makingcookingfixing I took a quick look at your channel. If you're timing your own injection pump, you're more than capable of doing this. Support the car safely, lower/lift the transmission safely, and you should be good. The job is not logically difficult. Bleeding the clutch hydraulics can be a bit tricky, but I think I had a video on that.

@@MercedesDieselGuy I appreciate it very much boss! i think I will give it a go. I already replaced both the master and slave cylinder to no avail, my clutch is just sticking. I'm hoping the clutch arm is not bent.

@cursedwolf23 I heard that same criticism before on a lot of my early videos. Keep in mind that the vast majority of people posting videos here are not trained media professionals, including myself. I don't post much anymore. Getting to the point, as you [correctly] put it, really is harder than you'd think. Pretty much anyone filming is naturally going to try to inject a little humanity and backstory. As people, we rarely communicate just the facts. Comparatively few KZbinrs are actively trying to waste viewers' time.

@akseakayaker3 ай бұрын
Unfortunately the brass fittings you used are very thin where they are threaded. Engine vibration will over time weaken these parts with possible sudden failure. This of course means catastrophic loss of oil leaving you on the side of the road.
@MercedesDieselGuy3 ай бұрын
@akseakayaker maybe, but a moot point. The engine's oil pressure problems turned out to be very real. This engine was only in service for a few more weeks after this video until it failed. I assume it was a toasted bearing, but I never disassembled it. Several months later I replaced the engine with a good running used engine which is still running and in use as of September, 2024.

The driver door window on my Volvo S79 98 is full down and won't go back up. I did everything in this video and put it all back and it still won't go up. Everyother button works fine and the sensors all have grown lights. However when I try push the orange piece up, which should close the driver window, nothing happens. When I push back, to close it, it makes a clicking noise. What do I do know. Need to close window before rain comes. Do I need to remove door panel now?

Also sorry quick follow up because I started freaking out but when I went to get back in my car a couple hours later, when I unlocked the door the alarm started going off and the hazard lights blinking repeatedly. It would then stop the alarm but the lights would keep flashing. Then the alarm would start up again if i tried locking the door or unlocking it again, also it wouldnt let me start the engine during all of this. This went on for about 20 minutes until I had given up hope and went to lock the door and it didn't trigger it. I managed to unlock the door and start the engine and drive home. It looks like the red light for the alarm is off now do :( so not sure if that will come back on and the alarm shit will start up again tomorrow... Anyway regardless when I got back I checked in the unit and saw that all the green lights were now off. Also none of the windows worked and also onto their own doors. I don't understand how this made it so much worse and not have any of the windows work. Do you think maybe a fuse got blown? Would that explain the green lights not working? The door lock button still surprisingly works. Any help please? I am going to order a new unit of Amazon regardless but I am unsure of what to do next as I don't want to bring into shop and was the whole reason I did the steps in this video😢

Do you happen to recall if the handlebars had any retention mechanism outside of just the clamp on the tube? I picked up a very neglected hon classic, but the handlebars won't slide up or down to allow me to fold or disassemble. However, they will spin in place if i apply torque. I would imagine if i can get the handlebars to spin in the tube that would mean theres no rust locking it in place, unless theres skme mechanism inside the tube that is locking it from vertical motion.

Your issue from 12yrs ago I believe helped me to figure out why , after replacing my water pump and taking it for the drive home ,,, one of the buzzers came on. Well , I realized that I had forgotten to reattach it after replacing the pump. It had broken off, (the plastic around the copper wire was super brittle and the wire broke off while I had been working on the pump replacement). I repaired the wire last night and just didn’t have the oomph to start it up again with hopes that the buzzer wouldn’t come on again … Crossing fingers as I’m heading out to start it up again . Thanks !

Diesel Guy: Removing that vacuum tank has turned into a challenge. What are the specifics? Are there any hidden screws? All I see is that single plastic washer thing holding the vacuum tank towards the middle of the unit, and nothing else. Don’t want to force out the plastic part for fear of breaking it. Any help greatly appreciated.

@@MercedesDieselGuy Thank you for your quick response. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting any feedback considering your video is nearly 15 years old, as of June 2024. There’s only one fastener that I can see, and I’ll be darned if I can’t figure out how to loosen it up. Don’t see any screws nor clip-ons nor springs. And I’m afraid to pull it out and break it in the process. Those parts have been discontinued long ago. I’ll keep trying, and if your memory recollects anything, please reach out and share.
