Act 3 is indeed the weakest part of the game, and I often find myself skipping over it it when watching StS videos. However, you also really can't take act 3 away from the game - it's integral to late game, and to what makes act 4 exciting.

I couldn't agree more, have been quitting at act 3 for a while now, rare for me to make it to act 4

Of course you can change act3 a lot? I wouldn’t say it’s integral. The game wouldn’t break if you made it much harder and made it a challenge in itself, just win rates would drop and people would have to play differently. I think act 3 is the way it is because the devs left it as a victory lap of sorts for the majority of casual players, and there were immediate complaints when they made it harder.

My problem with act 3 is the boss(es). They're all gimmicks. The time eater especially sucks, you're playing with velvet choker basically. But your deck could be reliant on playing many cards and you won't know if you roll time eater or not. Especially on A20.

Act 3 is pretty hard at face value. Just stats and mechanics wise the enemies ARE harder than act 2. Its just that the difficulty curve from 1 to 2 is SO STEEP that smashing through act 2 usually has you into a monster by 3 floors or so into act 3. Really the issue is with Act 2 more than anything, but thats a different conversation.
