Taking apart a 2017 Ford F-150 Grill Emblem for Painting

Sorry I missed the comments. I just used normal superglue to re-attach all the parts. For the most part they snap back in to place and on the back side I added the glue to the spots where it was held in place before.

Has the paint peeled or scratched / wore off ??? I’m doing this with my side f150 stx emblems and it’s already peeling off . I’ll use a 1000 grit , maybe that will work what you did . I didn’t prep it so maybe that’s why idk

The paint hasn’t peeled at all. I did the side emblems as well. One thing I did do to help the paint was to use a spray on adhesion promoter. Duplicate-color adhesion promoter clear primer

Yep, just normal superglue on the back where the plastic was.

how does it go back together if you took off the melted plastic??

Correct, I took the “lip” of melted plastic off to get it apart. When I put it back together it still snapped in place. I then put superglue on the back side where the plastic was.

Digital Eye no worries ! Thank you so much for this video . I haven’t done the emblem but I took off my 2018 f150 STX side emblems and it’s the same process. Only thing i over heated the plastic on the back piece of the emblem and it wouldn’t go back together lol . ( purchased one ) Is the super glue still holding up good ? I was not to sure with weather conditions it would hold . What I was thinking of doing is soldering another piece of plastic onto those plastic tabs to not use glue but I guess glue will work . Thank you again !
