Hi Everyone and Welcome to Promethean Sewing Machines, where I am unashamedly rebelliously creative when it comes to taking old forgotten sewing machines and bringing them back to life in a beautiful way.
Meet my new project:
This Egyptian decaled Singer 27 Treadle is up on the table to be taken apart today. Her upper decals, I think, are pretty good, but everything on the bed is not. My goal is to retain the good and repaint the bad. Wish me luck!

New subscriber here-- I was recently given a Singer 27 which is very rusty and totally seized up. I am not mechanically knowledgeable, so I procrastinated and restored the treadle cabinet first. Now I am ready to start on the machine, and I am SO happy to find a video about my exact model! I will probably watch this several times before I even start with the WD 40, etc. to try to take it all apart.

Loved watching you take this 27 apart. I have her sister, the 127 from 1923.I restored her as her decals were beautiful. I ss the only true visible difference is the bobbin placement because my 127 is a hand crank and the 27 you have is a treadle. I hope you find her decals in good condition under the crud. Hi! And tell Jane hi too 🤣 I think the only other thing besides the bobbin winder, is that yours has a place to hold on a motor, or hand crank, and mine does not. 😊

So happy I found your site. I have a 1902 model 27 singer treadle machine and am looking for a manual that will tell me how to set the pressure and stitch length. Do you have any info ?

There should be a round knob above the bobbin winder. Turn that in and out to adjust stitch length

I absolutely love what you do with the old machines. I have recently purchased an old Standard treadle in a tiger wood cabinet. It's beautiful however I know nothing about them, as all my others are Singer. Any chance you can point me to some references as far as photos? Up close of machine and all parts? I'm really having a hard time finding anything I can use.

I don't have one. Standard made a few models, and there is a copy of the manual for the rotary version on ismacs.net ismacs.net/standard-sewing-machine-company/home.html Maybe that can help...

You can't imagine how much your video has boosted my confidence to commence the restoration of my Great-Grandmother's Minnesota Model A.. It might night be an exact match to the Singer 27....but very, very close. Thank you, thank you!
